  1. Remember Willis rode the bench for about one-third of the season in 2004-2005. I think he was replaced by the stiff we got from Indianapolis . . .
  2. Adding a shotblocking, rebounding big man or two would go a long way towards decreasing our average points per game, and make those long, athletic swingmen seem a lot longer and more athletic, not to mention a better defensive team. Still missing key pieces two years into the plan, but we are on our way.
  3. Right. I opted for DirecTV years ago because I grew up in Buffalo and am a long-suffering Buffalo Bills fan. The NFL package is the killer application for DirecTV, and noone else offers it. Over the air means I'd have to invest in an external antenna, rabit ears do nothing in my house. Interesting though, sounds like not many folks here rely on DirecTV, though I appreciate the sympathies of those unaffected by this change.
  4. Thanks. I've e-mailed the owners and will probably call tomorrow. I live in Gwinnett, which means I can't even get games on my car radio (though I can on the net). Atlanta Spirit must do better on broadcast rights.
  5. While watching a decent game turn into a blowout tonight, a message flashed on my screen that DirecTV was dropping PAX efective 3/1/2006. That means that the 13 Hawks games broadcast on PAX after that date will unavailable to me and others who rely on DirecTV. I called (888) DIRECTV and logged my complaint against this change, which is apparently being done because the current PAX programming is infomercials, switched from 'family programming'. This can be confirmed at directv.com/pax. If you have directv, make your objection heard both to them and the Hawks.
  6. I have always thought this pick was about leadership down the road. Chillz leems to bee a high character, intelligent guy who tries to play the game the right way, whatever his role. While he may never be an All-Star, he might be the lockerroom glue that a championship team needs 5 years from now. Iggy may be a better player down the road, or one who offsets spectacular plays with boneheaded ones that cost a playoff series. We'll have to wait and see. We possibly could have done better, but I still think Childress is a key building block for this team, and that he's developing into the leader this team sorely needs. Just two cents from a rare poster.
  7. If you're of age, I'll buy you a beer! Say hello!
  8. Section 120, Row N. Hawks folks were gracious and apologetic va phone and e-mail. Can't wait for the season to start, I'll attend at least 8 games!
  9. The Hawks called me back a moment ago, and I e-mailed them a picture of my cancelled order. They were surprised at this and promised to get me an answer by Monday. I'll post the answer once I get it, including any info to get this corrected for others. I promised not to give the reps name for now, so he isn't inundated with similar questions before he has an answer. Let's all sit tight until Monday.
  10. My tickets were also cancelled. I called the Hawks, who gave me a number to call Ticketmaster, saying the problem was with them. Naturally, after I was on hold for fifty minutes, Ticketmaster reported back to me that their "Consumer Services Desk" informed them that the offer was cancelled by the client rep, meaning the Hawks, b/c 'those tickets should never have been offered/sold'. I told TM it was unbelievable that the team owner would make an offer like this and then renege, especially since some folks obviously got tix. When I called the Hawks back to tell the rep this, I only got voice mail. I left a message and am waiting for a return call. I'll update further if I get a call back, and if not, I'll follow up on Monday. By the way, since we were told there was no limit,I ordered 10 tickets to treat family and friends. Just wondering if any other cancelled orders were large ones?
  11. I haven't. Anyone know what the delivery plan is?
  12. I bet you'll get some coverage as we get closer to actual kickoff of camp and preseason, but remember Hawks coverage competes for resources with the NFL which is in full bore, MLB which has pennant races ongoing and playoffs imminent, and NHL which is about to start it's season. Fall is a tough time of year with a lot of sports going on.
  13. Here you go . . . http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...5/12belkin.html
  14. This morning's AJC (Tim Tucker & Sekou Smith)cites another clause in the partnership agreement that ATL/WAS relied on: " . . .there is no opportunity to rescind if the removable action is a willful or intentional violation of a stated position of the majority of the group . . ." I don't think this judge has final say on which clause wins. ATL/WAs has a decent argument after all, but impossible to say right now who wins. I wouldn't want this judge to make that call, however (he has indicated that Belkin can rescind already. I'd post the link to the story if I knew how to do that here (I'm too new).
  15. Agree, but this does increase Belkin's leverage for a higher buyout price since he can repeat the 5 day loop on each removable offense, the five business day notice period won't kickoff until Monday, and the LLC agreement likely can't be changed without Belkin's sign-off unless there is some majority or super majority override provision (which might trigger a forced buyout at a predetermined valuation method).
  16. The injunction may have prevented ATL/WAS from taking a vote that had to be part of the written notice of removable action to Belkin. In fact, it probably did. I'm worried Belkin has maintained leverage, not on the JJ deal, but on replacement as governor and hence future deals . . .
  17. I agree with you. See my other post.
  18. I just read the judge's opinion, and while he does take issue with Stern's affidavit tone, the opinion is well reasoned based on the LLC agreement and NBA Undertaking language noted in the opinion. Difficult to imagine that the NBA lawyers didn't bring the language regarding Belkin's initial term as governor to Stern's attention before the affidavit, but maybe Stern thought it'd skate by the court. Since they negotiated it, I'm sure ATL/WAS knew about this and have factored it into their plans . . . and yes, unless there is other language, it does appear that Belkin can survive by rescinding his trade block within 5 days. We may get JJ, but it seems to me that Atlanta Spirit decision making will be hamstrung for the forseeable absent a Belkin buyout. Unless there's something elsewhere in the agreements, every transaction requiring governor sign-off can be blocked, requiring 5 days notice followed by recission and Belkin's survival. If attorneys out there see something different, I'd love to be corrected. Sucks.
  19. First time caller, longtime listener . . .The deadline for a Sunday ad is usually Thursday, and you'd need to have it designed. It is expensive, though discounts can be had under certain circumstances. If money is raised and reasonably tasteful ad is put forward, I'd look into the possibility of having it published early next week, perhaps on Tuesday . . .
