  1. Your points are valid. This is still a major transition, regardless of whether Shelden was a graduate and had 4 years under an elite program under his belt. Listen I am not saying Shelden won't be a major bust. He just may turn out to be a major bust, but I would hold judgement until the actual NBA season starts and ends. Then I will flame or praise this pick. Too early right now!!
  2. Based on how the draft unfolded for the Atlanta Hawks, Shelden was the best pick at 5. Now if any other big man fell then I would have changed. But the fact that Aldridge and Bargnani were gone, Shelden was the next big man in line to be drafted. While his numbers are kind of alarming in SL, I still will not give a true evaluation of this pick until the END of the NBA season. He sucks now, but Marvin sucked to last year too. Now look at Marvin excel!!
  3. What part of "very little" vs. "nothing" do you not understand. "very little" means a small amount but nevertheless an amount. Go to webster dictionary if you need to clear that up. How is that an assumption?? So no you are WRONG in that your assertion that your evaluation had "NOTHING" to do with Summer League. It is called comprehension 101!!! Read YOUR statement again. This is no coverup....I posted exactly what you said and gave you the definition of what it meant. I am sorry you are trying to bend the truth, but then again that is what you do. From your definition Diesel.....Is there a difference between "very little" and "nothing"? Give me your definition.
  4. The bottomline is that you hate Marvin and will live to regret it. Now if you want to get technical and nit pick we can. "has very little" versus "nothing" have two totally different meanings. Now if you said "has nothing to do with Summer League" then your contention is correct. However saying "has very little" implies that Summer League had something to do with your evaulation of Marvin. It may have been a small factor, but "little" means that it had some factor in your evaluation. Enough of this bickering...you know you were at home smiling when Marvin wasn't playing well in SL and during the 1st half of the season!!! You will be eating a ton of crow soon enough my friend!!! Keep up the Marvin hate.......
  5. http://www.hawksquawk.net/forums/showflat....rt&Number=93475 Quote: I don't think Marvin is ready to start and may never be. This was posted by you right after last year Summer League performance. You attacked him vigorously in this post after Summer League. You tried to come back and say your hate VENOM in this particular post didn't have anything to do with his Summer League play, but I think most people knew where this renewed sense of hate for Marvin was coming from. He didn't play well and this was your opportunity to bash Marvin even more!! You have so many negative post on Marvin, you would need a year to go through them. You have an unbelievable number of negative Marvin post.
  6. Dude, you have been hating on Marvin since day 1. Actually, you were hating on Marvin even before we picked him. How many Marvin trade post and negative post have you written about Marvin? Too many to count!! The bottom line is you need to let all of the Marvin trades and negativity rest. Let Marvin develop into the player most people think he will turn out to be. He showed in the second half of the year he will be a stud and to think that he is so young is mouth watering!!
  7. My two cents. Diesel know good and well when Marvin was struggling in Summer League last year he was talking about bust and all other types of negative BS about Marvin. Now I am different, I still think Shelden will turn out to be a good pick for us and I am not going to judge him until the ENTIRE SEASON is over and I wish others including Diesel would do the same....yes even with Marvin Williams. Diesel was way way way too early to even remotely trying to evaluate this guy this year and being as young as he is you can't truly evaulate Marvin until 3 year out. All these trades you are throwing out on Marvin is ridiculus. Deep down you know that Marvin is the real deal and will eventually be a stud for the Atlanta Hawks. So why are you hating on this Marvin?? Good thing you are not a GM because you would have traded away a future All-Star player. Trading him would be 18 times worst than what Diaw ended up looking like. You trade Marvin you minus well move the franchise, he probably has the highest potential than anyone on our roster!!! Out of integrity for yourself and credibility, don't put Marvin in anymore of you BS trades!!
  8. I agree. Magloire would be the perfect move for this team. You get true starting Center and you have true big man DEPTH with Zsa Zsa, Batista, Solomon and Shelden off the bench. The Hawks can actually start banging a little down low!!!
  9. That is a nice lineup. I would have Marvin at the 3 and Josh Smith at the 4. Zsa Zsa , Salim, Lue and Childress off the bench is nice. Not to mention what we get for Al. This lineup can win some games!!!
  10. Quote: "Now, we're looking for Marvin to step up and do more," Woodson said. "I want him to shoot as much as he wants. ... I won't put the clamps on him at all. We brought him along slowly last year, which I think was the right thing. This [summer] team is his team; it's his time to shine. He can go out and do his thing." Which brought a smile to Williams' face. "I'm excited," he said. "It should be good for me. It's a big difference from last year to now. Completely different." So they had the clamps on him last year!! Woodson has learned his lesson with Diaw. Don't put clamps on talent like Marvin. Marvin is the real deal people (Diesel). He will eventually be the star of this team.
  11. Buzzard I am totally with you on this one. I have never seen anyone wine and cry over Marvin Williams like Diesel does. The guy showed everyone from mid-season on that he is the real deal and will be a HUGE asset to this team. Plus this guy is a kid and that was his rookie year. You can't evaluate him on his rookie year. He will be an all-star!! Nobody has ever bashed Shelden Williams and I wouldn't start bashing him until after 3 years of play in the NBA. I think he will be solid in the NBA and personally thought it was a good pick.
  12. Yeah there are so many rumors I have no idea what to believe unless I see with my own eyes on paper. There seems to be some truth to this potential GS deal however. They are reporting it on their online papers too. There could be a 3rd team involved. Who knows?? I just want to get good value for Al!!! If we do that we are ready to compete this year. Screw the ownership and potential ownership (Belkin)!! I am tired of reading about these clowns!!
  13. I reported this a few day ago. A radio station in Oakland said this is pretty much a done deal. They said they will announce it on July 12. Now I am not sure how this legal thing will affect this deal because I understood this deal was in progress when the court ruling came down.
  14. http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?foru...PostID=25356446 One of their radio stations is reporting this. It will be for Troy Murphy and Mikael Pietrus. Some on the forum say it is BS, but one of their stations reported it.
  15. Good read. I understand the Hawks, Al and Golden State have already agreed on a S&T. They have to wait until July 12 to announce it officially. This negotitiation was already in motion before this ruling!!
  16. This was a very good sign. I personally didn't want Cassell and I am happy that deal fell to the waste side. Speedy was next best option other than Mike James this year in FA. Hopefully he will help out at the point. I think he will do fine. Now lets get one more big with Al as bait!!!
  17. Quote: The financially feasible possibilities include Harrington and Wallace being swapped in a sign-and-trade or Harrington going to Milwaukee in a sign-and-trade for veteran center Jamaal Magloire and third-year point guard Mo Williams. I would love this trade. I think Mo Williams is an up and coming PG and Jamaal is another big. This is the deal I hope we are trying to pull!!
  18. ESPN has an article about the 2007 draft today. THIS DRAFT WILL BE LOADED WITH EVERYTHING!!! 1st rate PGs to Centers. Whatever we do in the Al Harrington Sign and Trade we have to pick up a 1st round pick next year. We will not be in the Top 3 next year so we are going to lose that pick to Pheonix. We have to find a way to get a pick next year.
  19. Based on how the draft unfolded.....I have to agree!! It would have been more controversial if Aldridge or Bagnani would have been there at 5. This was the right pick based on the circumstances of the draft. Some would argue for Roy, but I am not angry we picked up a skilled big body that can play defense. This is definately an area of need we addressed. I am satisfied with the pick.
  20. Quote: That does not sound interesting, it sounds stupid. We are giving up the best player and highest pick in that deal. I didn't say I agreed with this. I just thought it was interesting that this is what they are talking about on their board. They actually think Stromile is much better than Chillz to the point that we would give up our pick. Interesting not agreeable!!! Too different meanings.
  21. Quote: NEW YORK -- The spin continues among the lottery teams Tuesday morning, but after sifting through the smoke, there are some new revelations that could certainly shake up one of the most unpredictable drafts in recent memory. There are two players who didn't have any medical concerns among the proposed top seven: Connecticut's Rudy Gay and Italy's Andrea Bargnani. And, at least at this late stage, there is a chance -- albeit an outside one -- that they could be the top two players selected. League sources confirmed to ESPN.com that Toronto is considering Gay at No. 1. This would certainly shock the draft, since Gay has been considered a lock to drop over the past few weeks. Sources close to the situation said Gay worked out exceptionally well in Toronto, had a clean medical report, has the prototype NBA body for a small forward, is an "outstanding individual" and is considered a "safe pick.'' Gay was the projected No. 1 pick in the preseason, but the perception is that Gay had a down year for the Huskies. However, Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun told ESPN.com last week he disagrees with that perception, especially when one considers the fact that Gay scored 15.2 points per game to lead a team that was loaded with scorers at similar positions. According to league sources early Tuesday morning, Gay is considered now to be a top-five pick, with the two likely destinations being Toronto at No. 1 and Charlotte at No. 3. The perception that Toronto must trade down to draft Bargnani also is taking a hit. League sources said the Raptors are now worried that they couldn't get a guarantee that Bargnani would be available for them below No. 2. League sources told ESPN.com that Chicago is seriously considering taking Bargnani -- or at least is putting that out there -- so if the Raptors want Bargnani, they may have to take him at No. 1. Historically, the No. 1 pick is extremely hard to move. The two notable times it did move were in 1993, when Orlando and Golden State swapped Chris Webber and Anfernee Hardaway, and the notorious 1980 deal involving Boston and Golden State, when the Celtics got Kevin McHale (the No. 3 pick) and the Warriors' Robert Parish for No. 1 overall pick Joe Barry Carroll. Toronto isn't ruling out Texas sophomore LaMarcus Aldridge or Gonzaga's Adam Morrison, either. A decision could be made sometime late Tuesday. League sources said the Bulls are considering a host of options at No. 2, with Bargnani among those at the top. Aldridge is also in the mix, along with LSU freshman Tyrus Thomas. There are other scenarios whereby the Bulls could move the pick, but league sources say Chicago also is listening to offers for Tyson Chandler (but not necessarily trying to push him out). Meanwhile, Boston and Portland are talking about a deal that would send second-year point guard Sebastian Telfair to Boston for the No. 7 pick and injured point Dan Dickau (Achilles tendon). The decision for general manager Danny Ainge is whether or not Telfair is a better fit for Boston over whomever the Celtics could land at No. 7. After Monday's workout, the top choice appears to be Villanova senior guard Randy Foye, but Foye could easily be gone at No. 6 to Minnesota. The Timberwolves were supposed to watch Foye on Monday in Boston but general manager McHale decided to go see England's Joel Freeland -- a possible Wolves second-round pick -- in a workout in Houston, instead. Telfair, the controversial pick out of Lincoln High (N.Y.) who went at No. 13 in 2004, played in just 68 games last season because of an injured thumb. He started off the season well but never recovered his role after returning. Telfair is now behind Steve Blake and Jarrett Jack on the team's depth chart, making it obvious why the Blazers are willing to move him. Still, Ainge is reviewing how Telfair performed prior to the injury to see if he fits in Boston. This trade, if it happens, might not occur until after the draft, once Boston sees who falls to No. 7. Deals that are apparently dead, don't have life or never did include Houston and Atlanta swapping picks No. 5 and No. 8; Utah and Boston doing a Carlos Boozer trade that was a part of a larger package with Philadelphia, with Allen Iverson going to the Celtics; and Chicago shipping Chandler to Phoenix in a Shawn Marion Anyone like Telfair?? Looks like the Houston deal is dead.....and Rudy Gay may go No. 1. What a draft??
  22. I just the Houston boards and there is a lot of talk about an exchange of Stromile for Childress. Something like Stromile and 8th pick for Childress and the 5th pick. Sounds interesting!!!
  23. Exactly!! I like Head last year and wanted us to draft him last year even over Stoudemire. He did very well in the pre-draft workouts and easily solidified himself as a legitimate 1st rounder last year. Head did very well for a rookie in Houston. He would be a great addition to this team and we get true value for the 5th pick with Shelden and Head. Very good deal in my eyes!!
  24. I am seeing this deal on every NBA site. I think this may be the deal for Wednesday. We either end up with Roy and nothing else or we either end up with Shelden and Luther. Either way I am fine with the results. I think Roy is a good pick at 5. I think we get good value with Luther and Shelden for No. 5.
  25. I actually like this deal. We get true value for the 5th pick instead of stretching the value for Williams if we are the only team that wants Williams in the Top 5. Will Roy be there at 5?? Will Shelden be there at 8?? Risky business, but I like the deal.
