  1. This might be an unpopular choice but I think Pau Gasol is the perfect 5 for the Bud/Ferry system. He's very unselfish and one of the best passing centers in the leagueWe might be better off just waiting for the offseason to sign him when he's a free agent though
  2. He found some shorts! That was the most suspenseful part of this blowout game :)
  3. Are you serious?! A lot of us were thinking this could be his breakout game with Teague out but WTF?!Anyone know if he's got another pair? Could he borrow somebody's at the end of the bench?
  4. Can someone explain the Dennis sequence to me? He came in, made a good drive and bucket, and then got pulled IMMEDIATELY. Nique said something about making rookie mistakes but what did he do wrong?!
  5. Full disclosure I don't watch a lot of the Sixers, but if we're looking at their forwards wouldn't we be better off trading for Young instead of Turner? He's got great size, still very young, and is putting up some pretty big numbers this year (the same can mostly be said for Turner but as others have pointed out, he seems turnover prone and a bit of a chucker) I would think that he would/should be the target and if we still like Hawes we can still try to get him this summer when he's a free agent
  6. I totally agree with the description of our ideal center that someone posted aboveRather than Cousins though I think that center is Marc GasolI have no idea what it would take to get him but a core of Gasol, Horford, and Teague (with the right supporting pieces) would be DANGEROUS in the Eastern Conference
  7. Asik, BeBe, and a 1st: I think you're right, Chicago is getting pretty good value and flexibility; I think considering their circumstances (no playoffs, not knowing what Rose can give them when he returns) they'd have to look at this one good and hardKuddos Mr Meltdown: Most fan trades rape one team and stack the other but I think you've constructed one where each team gets better or gains some valuable pieces
  8. I love it.Al and Noah have special chemistry together (no homo) and it reduces our "needs" list down to a scoring small forward (that we could draft perhaps)Asik will hold down the fort on D for Chicago but not win them enough games to cost them a good draft pick plus they get another (or BeBe)Houston gets their ideal 4 and away from a grumpy AsikLooks like a winner all around to me
  9. I want to start by saying I LOVE the way we've been playing lately; very unselfish, competitive, and fun to watch...that being said we still have almost no chance of beating Indiana or Miami in a seven game series and as fun as it is to be IN the playoffs, the objective is to WIN in the playoffsThankfully I think we're only a move or two away from getting thereMy proposal: Paul Milsap and next year's #1 for Joakim NoahBefore everyone jumps on me: I realize how great Paul has been playing and how valuable next year's pick could potentially be considering how bad Brooklyn is playing, but you have to give up talent to get talent and I don't think Chicago would let Noah go without us giving them this kind of packageWhy we would do it: Can you think of a player who better fits Bud's system? Noah is unselfish, intelligent, and never stops; he also fills our glaring hole at the 5 and let's his old buddy Al (finally) slide over to his natural power forward position (Did I mentioned the two won TWO titles together at Florida?)Chicago would get a fantastic player on an absolute steal of a contract and what could be a VERY valuable pick. They would also have tons of options going forward: they could amnesty Boozer, trade Deng, and do a total reboot when Rose comes backWe would still have a hole at SF but if we get lucky with our Nets pick... I'll leave it there cause it's too great to think aboutWhat do you think? Would Ferry or Chicago's GM say no? Or would they have a nice long chat about it?
  10. Is there an OKC equivilant to Hawksquawk? I would love to see there views on this oneI would think they'd love it as it silences a lot of the criticism they've been getting since the Harden trade
  11. HorfordIbaka DurantKorverWestbrook That's a POWERHOUSE I love it for us too; if we're rebuilding that's the way to it. We would have TONS of budding players and a good shot at a top 5 pick this yearSomeone forward it to Ferry
  12. I think the word is "moot" :) but I do hear what you're saying; a guy gets to dream though right?
  13. I respect you all's opinion; we can agree to disagreeAll I'll say...Anderson on his own as a first or second option is "overrated" as you all say; as a Dwight sidekick however he is just about the perfect player because of the skills he brings (see the Magic's 2009 Finals run and how he lit up the East)Aminu is obviously not a superstar either (not even close) but he's very young and if he accepted his role as defensive stopper and pesky player he could really carve out a useful niche for us( plus he's another Atlanta guy; that couldn't hurt in the Dwight sweepstakes right?)As for Al, I'll reiterate; he's a fantastic player; I love him. The things you guys praise about him ("great mid-range j" "disciplined") are EXACTLY the same things experts said about Pau playing along side Dwight; that hasn't worked out well thus far...Again though, we can agree to disagree
  14. To me it's all about skill sets. The lineup I posted has: A slasher in TeagueShooters in Korver and AndersonDefense in AminuAnd in inside presence in Dwight and JoshIt would be impossible for a team to double Dwight without those two shooters TORCHING them or Teague getting easy layupsI LOVE Al but he brings a lot of the same things to the table that Smoove and D12 have. As for the best front court, look what happened to the Lakers; on paper Pau and Howard are the best but on the court they get in each others way.
  15. If God smiles on us and D12 does come home this summer I think a trade of:Al Horford to New Orleans forRyan Anderson and Al-Farouq Aminuwould be EXCELLENT for us. Anderson was nearly unguardable when he played next to Dwight in Orlando and could be a spark of the bench or inserted into the starting lineup depending on the matchup. Aminu is a big physical 3 who could be our defensive specialist against the LeBrons and Melos of the league. For New Orleans part I think they'd be ecstatic to play Big Al next to Anthony Davis for the next half decade; kind of a Robinson/Duncan 2.0. I don't think it would make sense for us if we DON't get Dwight but on the off chance that we do aHowardSmithAnderson (or Aminu depending on the matchup)KorverTeaguelineup would be a juggernaut and a serious threat to Miami and the rest of the East. What do you all think?
  16. Just out of curiosity: If Jeff Teague and Jeremy Lin had the same contract which one them would have more value? In other words who would say no to a Lin for Teague swap if their contracts were equal: Atlanta or Houston?Teague is quicker, younger, and more of a slasher; Lin is a better shooter and distributerI could see both players excelling on the other team, especially Lin in a pick and pop role with Horford (or dare I dream Howard)What do you all think? Which team would hang up the phone if one of these guards were offered?
  17. I know our defense would suffer but I think Teague and Monta's ability to penitrate and Al and Lee's mid-range game would put a LOT of pressure on the other team's D. If we could get something for Marv we'd have a LEGIT starting 5.
  18. I don't know if anyone has beaten me to it, but I thought of this one today and have really talked myself into it: Joe Johnson and Josh Smith For Monta Elis and David Lee Gets us out of the JJ albatross and gives us a nice 1-2 combo down low with Lee and Al. What'd ya think?
  19. I'm not an expert on what it would take to get him, but I do know that Bogut is very solid on both offense and defense and is a top five center when healthy. He's a great passer, rebounder, and shot blocker. He's very unselfish with the ball and money close to the basket.
  20. Any chance we could put together a package to pry Bogut away from the Bucks? I've always loved his game and he would seem to fit quite well with the pieces we already have.
  21. FYI: I just tried it on the ESPN trade checker and worked on the very first try! Outgoing: Mike Bibby Jamal Crawford Josh Smith Incoming: Chauncey Billups Nene No first rounder needed!
  22. It probably can't happen until the Carmelo situation is resolved, but assuming Melo leaves... Could we swing a deal for Billups and Nene? It's pretty obvious we have two glaring holes on our roster: a point guard and a center to bang with the guys too big for Al. I have no idea what the numbers would have to be (hopefully Mr. Hot-line reads this) but could we make some sort of offer along the lines of: Josh Bibby Jamal's expiring a future first for Billups and Nene Here are the arguments for Denver: A border-line superstar who is still emerging to build around if Melo bolts (Josh) A veteran backup point for Lawson as he takes the reigns (Bibby) A huge expiring contract to begin the rebuilding process (Jamal) Another first-rounder to jump-start said rebuilding process. I can't see Chauncey sticking around during a rebuilding process They've also got several bigs (once they get back from injury) to cushion the loss of Nene (Bird Man, Martin, etc.) The arguments for us: Look at the balance on our roster once Joe returns pg: Billups sg: Joe sf: Marvin pf: Al c: Nene For the first time since the Billy Knight era we have a real starting 5 and not a Frankenstein conglomerate of 6'8 people playing out of position. Al can move to his natural position at the four allowing him to really blossom. We have a point guard who, while in the twilight of his career, is still extremely productive and who brings a championship pedigree. A legit and vocal leader in Billups (something Joe is not) who was a TON of big game experience. A beast defensively (Nene) who is not afraid to get physical. This will really even the playing field as we move into the playoffs against Howard, Bogut, and Shaq (and allow us to dominate Miami and Chicago in the paint). Shades of the Pistons team that won the title in '04 no? No super-star but very very balanced and with no glaring holes. I'd go to war with this roster in the playoffs wouldn't you? ...now give me the reality check, why won't this work? :)
  23. Hey, I like Smith too, but you have to give talent to get talent. I agree that neither Conley nor Thabeet have come CLOSE to fulfilling their potential, but that's the very reason they're available. Most teams don't trade players who consistently play at an all-star level. Thabeet is EXTREMELY raw, but most big men are when they enter the league. Andrew Bynum, Andrew Bogut, etc. didn't do squat their first few years but once they learned how to stay on the floor and stop fouling (the very problem that plagues Hasheem) they became crucial to their respective teams. Al Horford is great, but there is no way he can continue to take the pounding he does at the center position for years to come. Al got eaten alive by Dwight Howard in the playoffs, and I don’t see him leaving the division anytime soon. But… you put Al and Thabeet side by side in the front-court and suddenly we become a VERY intimidating defensive team. No one is getting a rebound over those two. Conley, for his part, has the quickness to breakdown defenses and get teammates easy buckets. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, he is Teague’s equal; a stable of lightening quick point guards is never a bad thing. All I'm saying is that after a trade like this we finally have players in their natural positions. We can move past the Billy Knight hybrid Frankenstein team. Thoughts?
  24. Smith for Conley and Thabeet - Works on Espn Trade Checker -Fills the two most crucial (and difficult to get) positions -Conley and Thabeet are young and haven't come close to fulfilling their potential -Best case: Mookie and Deke version 2.0 Worse case: Two (former) high draft picks for a future trade -Removes our redundancy at the power-forward position -Memphis might need Smith if Rudy Gay bolts for the T-Wolves 2011 Hawks Conley/Teague J.J./ Mo Evans Marvin/Childress? Al Thabeet/ Zaza What do you think?
