  1. Quote: Quote: We need a great young PG. Nothing is complicated. Point is that we will get a great young point guard regardless of who we draft at #3 because we have another draft pick at #11 But not as good a player as Conley. If we are going to be a running team we need to get the best point guard period.
  2. How about I put up the link of Marvin Williams dunking over Josh Smith. I mean taking Yi at 3 is the equivalent of taking Marvin all over again since he is a project with the P word (potential that is).
  3. Of course he would start over Lue, Anthony Johnson, and Speedy “stay hurt” Claxton. The real question on these boards should be would Yi start over Josh Smith at the 4 or could Yi start at center, which I would answer with a resounding NO! The NBA game is way more physical than the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) or the international leagues for that matter. Taking Yi would be the equivalent of taking Marvin all over again, I mean Yi is nothing more than a project he’s not going to help this team WIN GAMES this year. Here is my campaign for the draft this year, “Taking Yi at 3 means saying goodbye to the playoffs before the season starts”, maybe I should print some tee shirts and send them to BK and the ATL Spirit. Its nothing personal against Yi, he could become a good player in league but the last thing this team needs is another forward or a guy playing center that is going to get pushed around in the paint we already have Zaza for that. The Hawks need a physical presence in the middle at center and Yi isn’t it.
  4. Also Conley shot .518 percent from the field at Ohio State, which isn't to shabby any way you look at it.
  5. Quote: He's really a good mid-range shooter, and an above-average outside shooter. Yet he's only a career .433 shooter from the field. They do differ in fact that Conley is a better defender than Paul. In no way am I saying that Conley will a better player than Paul though. Also with all the point guards waltzing to the hole pass Lue or whomever is at the point, it surprises me that more people aren't behind the Hawks drafting Conley because not only would he dramatically improve our team's offense but he would also improve the defense.
  6. Quote: Conley is no Paul, Paul lead his team, Paul was a leader, the heart of that squad, he created as good as anyone not named Deron that year. Conley is a overrated joke, seriously, he only showed that he can play with a great player and not be one. I'm just as high on Conley as I was on Sheldon. Apparently you didn't see any of Ohio State's basketball games this year, because if you did you would have seen that Conley was the unquestionable leader of the team. It was Conley who led their team; if you had watched more than one buckeye game {outside of the championship game) this year you would have seen that many times Oden was on the bench with foul trouble and Conley led their team to victory. There have been more dominant big guys in college than Oden (not as a freshman) Shaq, Duncan, to name a few but their teams never made it to the national championship because neither of them had a player near Conley's skill level on the team with them.
  7. Quote: He doesn't have Paul outside game, that allows Paul to create. Paul didn't exactly come into the league lighting it up from the outside. In the 05-06 season he shot just .282 from 3-point range, but he improved to .350 in the 06-07 season. Still Paul only has a .433 career shooting percentage from the field. The knocks on Paul when he came into the NBA was his shooting ability and size.
  8. I agree with your post 100 percent. Its amazing how people on this board would rather draft an unpolished project forward with potential a la Marvin Williams instead of the best point guard in the draft. With all the complaints about Marvin being at bust at the age of 19 (which is ridiculous), then people want to draft a player who is not going to help the team win for years. This reminds me of 05' when I really wanted the Hawks to draft Chris Paul, but we drafted a forward instead, at least Marvin Williams was the consensus 1rst or 2nd pick in the draft, while Yi isn't. The player in the draft (outside of Oden or Durant) that will help this team the most right now and into the near future is unquestionably Mike Conley, Jr.
  9. Quote: If you don't think high profile recruits aren't getting paid by boosters, agents, etc. you are being very naive. Yeah like he would be spending thousands of dollars on dogfighting. Sounds like the same thing that the haters said when the truth came out that there wasn't any marijuana residue in the water bottle; coming up with their own conspiracy theories instead of accepting the truth. Until there's real evidence not hearsay that Vick was involved in dog fighting he is innocent until proven guilty. If he’s proven guilty then let the hounds come after him.
  10. Quote: I believe that if a man is involved in the culture, owns the house where 60+ dogs are found, is being investigated by the FBI, and has failed to say he is appalled at dogfighting or that he is innocent of any allegations against him, is not worthy of being the QB for our team. Using your logic Patrick Kerney should have known that a rape was tacking place downstairs in his house, or that a landlord should know if a tenant is selling drugs on a property that is being rented. Seeing as how Michael Vick lives in the Atlanta area yet using your hate blinded logic he automatically knows what goes on at a property he’s letting his cousin use in Virginia. When did Michael Vick become God being as how in the mind of the haters he can seemingly be in two locations at a one time or that he’s omniscient. Since Vick lives in Atlanta and not in VA, what would the difference be if the house was in his cousin’s name. The truth of the matter is the guy bought his cousin a house, but keeps it in his name (just like the house he bought for his mother) most likely since they can’t afford all the property taxes and bills that come along with owning a house that expensive; its common practice for the rich and famous to do that for family members.
  11. This supposed source stuff has me LOL. Supposedly Vick was a heavyweight in dogfighting when he was still at Virginia Tech, seeing as how Vick wasn’t drafted until 2001, but according to the source the dogfighting took place in 2000. Like Vick had 30,000 dollars at the time to throw around on dog fights. The haters are to dumbfounded with hate that they can’t even put things together to see that Vick wasn’t even drafted until 2001. Its funny also how the media (ESPN, AJC) dosen’t even mention this, I guess the witch hunt continues.
  12. Quote: Schaub could be one of those, you know, quarterbacks that can actually read defenses and pass and shred us up like so many qb's did this past year while we sat back and waited for Vick to rush for 100+ yards for us to have a chance at winning. Just admit you have a strong dislike for Michael Vick like gsuteke. Sure Vick needs to improve in a lot of areas but did you actually watch the games last year. It’s obvious when Vick has adequate protection to throw the ball he can make all the necessary reads {even the new head coach said so}. Part of reading a defense is being able to audible out of bad plays but guess what none of the falcons qbs could audible because of that supposed know it all Knapp. You expect Vick to just stand in pocket while 300lb guys are busting through that weak line, it's either run or take a beating like David Carr (I mean its amazing Vick hasn't had a concussion yet). I don't care how good Schaub could have been he would have been toast behind that line.
  13. Smoove is more of a 4 than a 3. Don't discredit Haslem's post defense. JSmith has a better chance of taking Haslem off of the dribble than posting him up. Diesel, Smoove would still be playing the 4 even if Chris Paul was drafted instead of Marvin Williams. If Paul was drafted Childress would start at the 3. The fact of the matter is JSmith is hell of a lot more productive at the 4 than the 3.
  14. Eddielives it's of obvious you have an open hatred of Michael Vick. Some reason you think Schaub is the next Brady or Farve, but I just don't see it. The one game that he played good in (during the regular season) was against the Patriots defense that was ranked in the bottom five versus the pass in 05, and played the Falcons without there best defensive players (Richard Seymour, Tedy Bruschi, and Rodney Harrison) yet the falcons still lost. The fact is the Falcons did make out like bandits with this trade when you compare what the Vikings got for Daunte Culpepper, you know considering Culpepper has at least won a game and has made several trips to the Pro Bowl. Let's compare the career stats of Matt Schaub and Daunte Culpepper. Culpepper stats CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT 1759 2741 21091 64.2 7.70 82 137 89 249 90.8 Schub stats CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT 84 161 1033 52.2 6.42 59 6 6 12 69.2
  15. We should really look at drafting Mustafa Shakur with the Indiana pick. Does anyone know where he projects to be drafted? Here is a link to his stats: ESPN
  16. Petrino needs to get in Vick's ear when he makes a mistake (like Sean Payton) unlike Mora who would just kiss him on the helmet. In ways I do believe Vick has got caught up in his on hype to much. I equate it to what I call the model/celeb syndrome (where a model will hear there beautiful so many times it gets to their head, or an actor or athlete hears there so great that the person can get to high on themselves). Let me tell you about one thing I noticed that I didn't like before the Detroit game. On the radio before the game there was a report they do with Vick before the game and the reporter just stroked his ego so much that at time I was yelling no at the radio. He was saying how he got a chance to hang with Michael Jordan at some event and the reporter said " I guess greatness hangs with greatness", and the whole time I was thinking I hope that doesn’t go to his head ( I mean after he had the 2 good games). All in all I think Vick won't be traded and Schaub will be traded to Cleveland (if they win the toss for the 3rd pick) since Schaub is from Ohio, (my brother works with his dad). IMO Vick's going to be fine he (and the whole team) just needs the proper direction and discipline from the coaches not some ammonia sniffing, helmet kissing, guy who wouldn't fire his BFF unlike Billick.

    Vick

Quote: what's the guy doing with that water bottle? if you've got something to hide i have to question your maturity level. I guess you've never traveled somewhere and bought something that you wanted to bring back and show to people. What makes you think Vick bought the bottle just to hide something in it. Vick probaly bought the bottle at a market in Miami where their a popular item. You should have seen a report that was on CNN about the bottle, they are not as exclusive as you might think. The bottles have become really popular in Miami you can buy 1 for $20 or 2 for $35.

    Vick

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was not carrying marijuana or another illegal substance at the Miami airport and will be exonerated, league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Sunday. On Wednesday, Vick surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that authorities believed smelled like marijuana and contained a substance in a hidden compartment. Vick was not arrested and was allowed to board his flight to Atlanta. Miami police had said it could take weeks to decide whether charges would be filed against Vick, a three-time Pro-Bowler. A Falcons team source confirmed that the team expects to hear something formal by Monday. What happened to innocent until proven guilty its funny how everybody jumped to the conclusions that Vick had some weed just because someone thought they smelled weed. This seems to be a problem we have here in the U.S. "to convict someone before that person has been found guilty of something".
  19. So are you saying that Schaub had a good or that the offense was better with him in there, if so please have your eyes checked immediately. Maybe you didn't watch the game just like you probably don't watch hawks games that you post about you just read the recap and the boxscore.
  20. First of all the trade Mike Vick talk is just stupid. Tell me what did Matt Schaub do in today's game that was so special. The truth of the matter is that the falcons are just a poorly coached team. Its quite a contrast watching the coaching of other teams. Gregg Knapp is horrible play caller and it shows week in and week out. For all you guys that want to blame Vick for everything explain to me why Knapp continues to run the smallest running back in the NFL on short yardage plays and not the fullback. Tell me why the falcons could not stop the same running play that the panthers ran last week. Tell me why Jason Webster continues to start at cornerback when he plays 10 yards off every wide receiver in the league and still gets beat deep. THE PROBLEM WITH THE FALCONS IS COACHING NOT 1 PLAYER just look at the Eagles even with out McNabb the Eagles still play good football beacause they are a well coached TEAM.
  21. It may just happen with all the injuries, just finded out that Smooth could be out a month with hernia surgery. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...hawksnotes.html
  22. Atlanta Outgoing #5 pick to Houston #33(Second Round)to Seatle Incoming Houston's #8 pick Seatle's #10 pick Houston Outgoing #8 pick to Atlanta Future 1rst round pick (lottery protected) to Seatle Incoming Atlanta's #5 pick Future 2nd round pick from Atlanta (whenever they give up there lottery protected first round pick to Seatle) Seatle Outgoing #10 pick to Atlanta Danny Fortson to Atlanta Incoming Future 1rst round pick from Houston (lottery protected) Atlanta's 2nd round pick #33 Why would Atlanta do this trade its simple at #8 we take Shelden Williams or Patrick O'Bryant, and at #10 we take Randy Foye or Rajon Rondo. Houston does this deal if Brandon Roy is still available at #5, he would give them that 3rd scorer and whould take a lot of pressure off of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. Also the first round pick they would give up would be lottery protected. Seatle would do this trade because it would take Fortson's 10 million contract of the books and would allow them to sign Wilcox. Also they would be receiving a 1rst round pick and second round pick. To me this deal works out great for everybody, what do you guys and girl (Ms. Princess) think.

  24. Hey Im new to the thread but how about this trade. It worked out on ESPN Trade Machine. Atl Incoming Kirk Hinrich Mike Sweetney Eric Piatkowski {cut after trade) Outgoing Al Harrington Tony Delk Chicago Incoming Al Harrington Steve Francis Outgoing Kirk Hinrich Mike Sweetney Eric Piatkowski Orlando Incoming Tim Thomas Tony Delk 1rst round pick (from Bulls) Outgoing Steve Francis To me this deals works out for everybody. The Hawks get their point guard, the Bulls get some needed scorers, and the Magic get a first round pick, and contracts that come off the books at the end of the season.
