  1. the point is for non-basketball related moves that the Phillips Arena staff can make that will lead to a better experience. one of the BIG problems that Phillips Arena has is that if you don't have lebron/kobe/durant then you're going to have to think outside of the box in order to have people to show up at the games.I've been to hawks games in the past and it feels like they just re-use the same stuff over and over again year after year. over the years, the environment has just gotten bland (kiss cam never gets old though).also, this really should be something that teams across the NBA should look into. they are 41 home games in a year and only a quarter of them are going to have road players that "sell out the house". Arena staff need to start thinking of ways to differentiate themselves and make it so that people have a reason to come to the arena other than "Atlanta is playing Lebron".
  2. While watching the playoffs one of the things that I thought of was how much all of the Arenas in the NBA had in common. for the most part they play the same music, have an organ guy, play the same mini games during timeouts. I can't really think of any arena that can say, "this is what sets us apart from other arenas in the NBA". So I was thinking? 1) What does Phillips Arena do that sets them apart from other arenas in the NBA? (while we may do kiss cam the best it isn't unique)2) What are some things that other NBA arenas do that Phillips doesn't do?3) What are some fresh (non-basketball) ideas that the Hawks front office can do that would make you want to go to a hawks game.for example, I think that the music in Phillips Arena is horrible, it's generic rap or 80s rock that is way to loud and doesn't get the crowd into the game at all. you would think that it's sole purpose is to make the quiet anger of the Phillips Arena crowd. My Idea would to have live music at the games. for ordinary games Phillips Arena could set up a glass booth for a jazz band to play during the games. the music could even change depending on pace of the game. For big games, Phillips arena could bring in the Atlanta Orchestra. make a national TV game epic.what are some other suggestions that you would give to the Phillips arena staff to make the Arena experience better?
  3. It's very surprising how little coverage the Dream get in the local Atlanta media seeing as though they've done the best out of any professional team in the past decade, but all that aside, i'm looking forward to seeing if the Dream can bring home the trophy.
  4. I've seen articles on the hawks drafts before, one of the big problems we had was that we never got really high lottery picks and the hawks as a franchise has relied on veterans for a vast majority of years over the past 2 decades. this articles says more towards that absolute fail that the franchise has gotten for player development (personally i look toward the absolute waste of potential that the hawks squandered on boris diaw, salim stoudmire, donta smith, and almost jeff teague). also, the hawks have done nothing to bring over the Euro talent that the hawks got in the mid 2000s. I don't see how you allow a team in europe to spoil your potential bench players. i always thought they should have brought over Gladyr, Aknol, and the others early on and stuck them in the D-League. *i still think of boris diaw as a bum, but he could have been our bum.
  5. that actually could be a move that the hawks should do. get away from the tax. What I thought could be good for both teams was. 1st trade: Josh Smith & Marvin Williams for Pau Gasol and a 1st rounder. -this trade gives them a decent 3/4 combo to surplant World Peace and Matt Barnes Lakers fans would think we're ripping them off but then we do a seperate deal. Hinrich for TPE. -that way we give the Lakers a starting caliber 1/3/4 to go along with Bynum. Hinrich/ Bryant/ Williams/ Smith/ Bynum should be enough to win the west. especially with Josh essentially becoming a 3rd option. for us it gives us a conventional lineup and Pau's FG% would be a HUGE boost compare to Josh's wayward shooting especially when combined with Horford and McGrady who would get more PT with marvin out of the picture Teague/ Johnson/ McGrady/ Gasol/ Horford (once he comes back for the playoffs)
  6. I think that you have to take into account the fact that the 1st team starters (Johnson, Smith, Horford) can create their own shots as opposed to the second team players (Green, Rad, Zaza) who depend on good passes to be able to take good shots. Bench players are always more likely to run sets to get shots up and are less likely to default to isolation. you would want to see a higher percentage, but more likely it would take for Joe, Josh, and Al to refrain from going iso (not going to happen).
  7. even if a player is assigned to the D-League, he still counts as a roster spot.
  8. Guessing at the Depth Chart at this point PG-Teague/Pargo/Sloan SG-Johnson/Hinrich/Green/Stackhouse SF-Willams/McGrady PF-Smith/Radmonovic/Johnson C -Horford/Pachulia/Collins/Benson hawks have to cut the roster down to 14 and with Stack a long shot to make the roster, you have to look at Sloan, Johnson, and Benson for the last cut. the Hinrich injury really hurts right now because if he isn't injured i doubt we sign willie green. i think Sloan is going to be the last cut.
  9. decent signing, looks like sund is taking the year off when it comes to multiyear bench contracts. i looked at hoopshype and our cap number goes down to 60 million if we don't resign kirk. we could be players for the mid level next summer so i'm cool with taking one year vets for what is pretty much a throwaway season.
  10. Potential Trade to LAC if CP3 is traded for EG this trade could work out for both teams ATL-Craw (starting salary 8 million)/ M.Williams for LAC-Kaman (will be a free agent next year) this trade works in Trade Checker and would lower the team salary by alot. LAC would get a replacement for Aminu and a starting SG in crawford ATL would get a starting C in Kaman. after the year they could sign Kaman to a lower deal or let him go and steer clear of the luxuary tax line.
  11. there is no way the owners would allow stern to void out contracts. do you think Miami would want lebron, dwayne, and chris bosh out on the open market. or orlando with dwight howard. new orleans with chris paul?
  12. from ajc.com's minicamp notes could he have been the hawks fourth guard? with point guard being set with Teague and Hinrich, the hawks could use to have a minimum salary player in Lighty to back up Joe.
  13. i'm starting to realize now why LA wants andre igoudala...
