  1. Craw, we absolutely got embarrassed by the Magic in the second round of the playoffs with the same team we have right now. I have a chance to sign a piece to even the stage. Now if you are happy with doing well in the regular season and getting beat in the playoffs, then we shouldn't make any changes.

I'm pretty sure our game plan has already changed. We may be outmatched in the middle but we were also outcoached in how we dealt with Howard.

Signing Shaq would be a huge gamble. We're hoping he negates Howard in the playoffs. Shaq's a McDouble with cheese and a McTwist of the knee away from becoming obsolete. Forever. The $$$ is not worth the risk IMO. I'd have rather "overpaid" for Miller or Heywood. Both of whom will be around for a few more years and at least the entire next season.

  2. Heywood just signed a contract that will pay him 9.1 Million per. What's Shaq's value again?

No one really knows Shaq's value. He's been on a STEEP decline every year now. It depends on how much he's declined this offseason. It seems like everyoff season that drop is more significant than the previous one. Heywood is younger and is actually getting better. I can promise you Shaq isn't better than Heywood or Miller. Sure his ppg may be close but that doesn't matter when you put in half the total mins played, which is what I'm guessing Shaq's will be this year.

  3. Problem is they have 2 superstars and 1 allstar. One of these guys will be on the floor at all times. We have 1 legit allstar and 2 borderlines. Barring injury they will always have a better player on the floor. At worst, they will have Bosh (JJ's equal) on the floor at the same time as JJ. Bottom line is they are loaded and scarry and their bench doesn't matter.

  4. Ok, so there's an injury. I must say I was pretty impressed with his handles and demeanor on the court. From all the talk on here I thought he was going to be severely overmatched. I may be wrong but judging from that first game we may have an NBA'r with that pick.

  5. I have never once heard or seen Al Hoford make the comment that he's not a center. In fact, in his most recent comments, he said that he has no problem playing center and realizes that the Hawks are better with him at center. He stated that he just wants to get him AND Josh some rebounding help. This idea that Al Horford is going to leave if he doesn't play power foward is nothing but supposition that has been made up. The fact is that in todays game, there is very little difference between the center and the power forward position.

Unless of course you're talking about the NBA champs who have 2 legit "true" centers. Let's see they played the Celtics in the finals who have 2 "true" defensive centers. In today's NBA the champs (and runner ups) don't have PF's playing center.

Forget the champs, we're not getting past Orlando with Horford playing center.

  6. What's going on with him? He had an OK first game, looked very comfortable, then had 2 DNP's. Is there a story here? If not the rook should be getting some PT.

  7. It doesn't matter if a player like Al is the NBA's new center. What good does that do us when our "center" doesn't think he is a center? I could give a rat's *ss what HS's think a NBA center is when our center doesn't think he is one. That means he walks and then not only do we not have an "old school" center but we will be without "today's NBA" center as well. Bottom line is if we want to keep Al we better find a "true" center.

  8. FIXED

Umm, the word "defense" mean anything to you? I doubt we're going to be running that switching D (thank God) as much as last year. We're going to need good Defensive players. Duhon is better than average. With Joe signing we now have two (hopefully) adequate scorers coming off the bench. Who gives a rat's *ss if our BU PG can't shoot? He's a smart defensive minded PG which is EXACTLY what we need on our 2nd unit.

  9. Exhibit A: All the unadulterated love Marvin Williams gets around here. Oh, wait...

    ~lw3

Pointless. He said there was Duke hate here not Tar love. Duke players have a stigma that carries with them in most fan's hearts. Regardless, Duhon is a very solid backup, period. Other than him being a Devil I can't understand why no one would want him here.

  10. I don't think I'd make that deal if I were Sund because Ellis has a scorers mentality and unless we're moving Joe to SF we'd either have to bring Ellis off the bench or have him start at PG and keep Teague as the backup and I don't want to wait any longer to make him the starter.

In that case I'd trade Bibby, Marvin AND Teague for Ellis. He's that good.

  11. The guy annoys me. He is like a big loud cartoon.

Some people just annoy you. Just like how Marvin Williams annoys you.

Understood. But you still have to admit he's not that bad. Michael Jordan annoyed the hell out of me but I had to respect him. He's at least a slightly above average actor and is much better at that than being a rapper.

  12. They actually have the video posted on nba.com along with the article about his hire.

I like what he did for 2 reasons:

    1. It shows that he KNOWS he cant be a Woody repeat and not have an offensive system in place, and he will focus on making that difference clear with the team next year

    and

    2. By using Teague he was demonstrating that Teague has the capapility to run an offense, he has confidence that he can be taught the new system, and he will in effect actually be used next year.

Both are things we as fans wanted in the new coach

    an Offense

    Somebody to develop Teague

That or he's just as good as Woody at BS'ing.

  13. I like it. And here's why, from Marc Stein at ESPN.com:

"Although he's well-liked and well-respected in the Hawks' locker room, Drew is bound to be dismissed by the Atlanta public as a coach too closely connected to the Woodson era, even though Drew was a respected NBA assistant long before he landed on Woodson's bench.

Those who know Drew best say he'll inject the built-for-speed Hawks with some needed offensive creativity and get them playing faster than the stubborn Woodson ever did. They also say he'll reach Josh Smith and Marvin Williams like Woodson never could and that knowing Atlanta's personnel so well gives him a head start no one else could enjoy."

Drew is not the sexy hire, but seems like the perfect fit :helpsmilie:

OK I get he may change our offense (which is a good thing) but why would anyone think he's all of a sudden going to reach Smoove and Marv now? Hasn't he had that opportunity for a few years now? Anywho, between the 3 I'd have like to have seen a new voice all together but if he gets our guys up and down the floor while still focusing on D I'm all for it. I don't think he' necessarily going to be a Woody 2.0 as he was coaching loooong before he became Woody's assistant.

  14. Dude, I would not brag that Stern is in agreement with you. Will Smith is a decent actor and his son didn't do a bad job in the ONE movie I've seen him in. You then call his wife a dike? Seems like you have more against this man than his acting and you're letting that hate warp your perception of his acting abilities. That's obvious by the fact you wouldn't tap his wife's *ss. She's pretty sexy but your man-hate for the dude is even more proof that your sense's have been warped. That and the fact you have replied to your own Smith-hate thread 3 times already out of the 4 replies.

  15. lol watch it because shmucks is the same as what you and I are doing..... you call them shmucks because you disagree. Well, you are doing the same as they were.... voicing your opinion which puts you and i as shmucks too

Only problem is this shmuck is looking at that deal in the real world. The shmuck on the radio is being an actual shmuck if he believes that deal is possible. You're not a shmuck for voicing your opinion but you are a shmuck for discussing insane trades.

"I believe LeBron will sign with Hawks." <--- This makes me a shmuck. Not because I voiced my opinion but because of what my opinion was.

  16. Am I crazy for wanting us to just draft the best PG available? Anyone that has a good BBIQ and can distribute the ball would really help maximize Horford and Marvin in Year Zero A.W.

Two years in a row? I think we should give Teague a legit shot first as I don't think there will be even a remotely better option at that pick. We need to trade for a legit C and draft a SF or vice-versa.

  17. If someone would have told you about our trade for bibby and the tade we did for Crawford before thet went down. I bet you would have said the samething. Hawks have pulled off some good trades

Ummm, ok. I don't care what some shmucks calling into a local radio station said, there is NO WAY a GM trades away a guy like that for a washed up PG with a new contract and a below average SF with a new contract. They are not taking on two long term garbage players for a man with Iggy's credentials. Not happening.
