  1. I am amped about this years game. I was a little disappointed last year but wasn't sure if it was because of the game or the fact I went with PS3's version. I think it was a little of both and am planning on going back to Xbox for my 2K needs. Is everyone here going Xbox or PS?

  2. Forgot about the Netflix so +1 for the 360. I also forgot about the PS3 having it's own web browser and it's usefulness as a media hub is way better than the 360, although the 360's is in fact growing quickly.

Chillz you say you are a professional gamer so I must ask if you are sponsered by MIcrosoft in some form or fashion? Just wondering because for the past 3 or so years you've been in complete denial about the 360's failure rate. At it's highest peak it was above 50% and most considered that too gracious. While it's improved temendously the latest reports (and there are plenty with a wide array of numbers) have it listed at around 10%. (as of earlier this year). That is remarkable progress and proves that the new chips are working better but lets put it into perspective shall we...The PS3 and the Wii both hover around a 1% failure rate. That means that the 360 is STILL 10X more likely to fail on you than the PS3. On the other end of the spectrum a readers survy listed ¥ Xbox 360 has a 54.2 percent failure rate ¥ PS3 has a 10.6 percent failure rate ¥ Wii has a 6.8 percent failure rate. None of these numbers are from any of the manufacturers themselves but even Square trade put out their findings and, while not as drastic, it listed the 360 as only twice as likely to die. Better but still risky. Not sure how you're coming up with your claims but perhaps you should research it before giving out misleading info. Microsoft simply puts out an inferior product in terms of reliabiility.

I'd also like to add that not all BR players are equal. Sure you will eventually be able to get one for $99 but they will be outdated in a matter months as BR's format is still being fine tuned. The PS3's BR player is still a $300 BR player with a free next gen gaming system (and the only TRUE HD gaming system there is)And if you think there isn't a difference in your streaming internet "HD" and true 1080p format than you are missing out on some good looking movies.

Bottom line is unless you play an enormous amount of online gaming I'd go with the PS3. Especially if you can only have one system as you are still playing a game of chance by getting a 360.

  3. If you're talking strictly gameplay vs gameplay, at best, they are dead even. There is still a dated argument that XBox graphics are superior to PS3's despite the PS having superior capabilities with it's procssor and blu-ray games. That is now a myth as programmers have now finally learned the PS3's engine. Still, for arguments sake, take away online play (which XBox is the winner at although YOU HAVE TO PAY), take away blu-ray, and everything else and the two machines are even in performance.

However, the only thing the 360 has going for it over the PS is Live. To me, even though I play a lot online, it's not enough to overcome lack of blu-ray and poor crafstmanship. Since you can hub both machines, I'd take the PS over the 360 everyday of the week. However, I do like to game online a lot so I've made sure to keep one of each on hand to satisfy all of my gaming needs.

Gotta ask you Dolf do you own a PS3? Do you own a Blu-ray player? Being the movie buff you are I'd be suprised if you didn't own a blu-ray and if you do why didn't you just get a PS3 for that alone?

  4. MV's life isn't ruined. However, they tried to keep the man out of the NFL. When they realized they couldn't, they pushed for him to get a psychological evaluation prior to being re-admitted. I'm almost certain that whatever team picks him up will also have to deal with PETA protests, which is making it hard for him to find a new team.

I know of others that have gone from that kind of bank to that kind of debt and offed themselves because of it. Financially the man is ruined and will always be ruined because he's still either making dumb decisions himself, or is still hiring the wrong people to make the dumb decisions for him. PETA isn't making it hard for him to find a new team, him being a slightly above average quarterback who hasn't played in 3 years is why no one has signed him yet. I say yet because someone will (despite PETA) but it won't be for the money he's looking for.

  5. Who cares if they're cheap. They obviously don't have a clue how to field a championship team. Here we are over the cap and, as noted by both HC and our GM, we're only a 4th place team in the East. That's not good ownership/management regardless if you're cheap or not. Our money is spent and we're not looking to be better than 7th place in the leage. Not good.

  6. The people in PETA are absolutely obsessive. It's like borderline crazy. I've been saying this since they were determined to ruin Mike Vick's life after he had paid his debt to society. It's absolutely ridiculous.

I agree that PETA is absolutely out of their minds and I'm a huge animal lover. Without getting into a MV debate MV ruined his own life and I'm not sure what PETA has done to him since his release?

  7. I believe that almost every player in the game is lower than they were last year which is a good thing because the ratings were way too high last year. This gives the ability to have truly elite players in the 90's, guys like Tom Brady and Adreian Peterson. Maybe the Falcons O-line is too low although 4 of the 5 starters are 77 or better which isn't bad but I honestly can't say since I don't even know who some of the Falcons linemen are.

If every player is lower than last year shouldn't that average out and lead to the same gameplay? What's the difference in a 90 WR going against an 85 DB (last year) vs an 85 reciever going against an 80 DB (this year)? Or are you saying star players aren't rated as high?

  8. Trust me, Flip is better.

Unless you have some stats to prove that I'd have to disagree. I've seen enough of both to know that crawford is better. I've also seen enough stats that PROVE this. Now, Flip may be a better bargain, that is a legit argument, but to say he's better and even to say he can play back up PG is complete BS.

  9. Good to hear Dolf. Madden is the King at adding VERY minor tweaks and promoting it as "groundbreaking." The worst thing that's ever happened in the gaming industry was when Madden bought out the NFL's rights. I'll rent it then make my decision because so far they've been living off the name "Madden" for years.

  10. Yet another topic that has been addressed ad nauseum.

Yeah, I thought it was already agreed that Flip's BEST year (last year) wasn't even as good as Crawford's average? This is correct, correct? So, I really don't see the argument in who's actually better.

  11. Yaaaaaawwn........

when so much energy is directed at the disputes of these posters, it only acknowedges their over-hyped sence of self-worth. it grows tiresome and i find myself simply skipping over more posts than not when they are both replying within the same threads.

i will say that they obviously value each other more than they let on, because they otherwise they wouldn't give the attention to each other in their signature tags below their posts.

    I'm with Psycho

  12. And ask yourself this, if they used cheap Chinese parts do you think that so many businesses would use them?

The number one selling car in america was a Ford Focus for many years. I'm just sayin.

I may have a skewed view on Dell's but I've seen way too many issues with them. The car reference is a good one though because, just like buying a car, it's going to be a crapshoot. Dell absolutely buys the cheapest parts they can find and will switch contracts on a whim. Maybe that is standard practice for computer

companies, I don't know but I do know Dell does this.

  13. Our desktop PC died during our somewhat recent move. We would like to replace it and to take the harddrive from the old computer and install it in the new one to be able to transfer pictures and other valuable content. (I plan to dump the key files onto the new hard drive and then reformat the old one). The computer isn't used for too much - it will be primarily used for web browsing, storing files, and for school work for our (young) son. Any recommendations on best bang for your buck? We don't want to spend a lot if it can be helped and will probably just use the old monitor/keyboard/mouse, etc. so the key is the actual desktop machine. Thanks for any ideas/insight on best value brands, configurations, and/or websites for deals!

HP or Asus (I think) is the two I hear good things about.

  14. Jordan is the only coach off that list I don't take over Woody. A few are equal. A very few. The rest are clearly better coaches.

Of course if you put a line through a few more coaches Woody will look even better vs. the field.

  15. I thought so too. Not sure why. Less BS. Toor responsibility for what he said last year. Hope it is for real.

Took responsibility for only aiming for the 4th seed? OK. Regardless Woody is king of not practicing what he preeches.

Hell, I’d love to do the same things, but we’re committed to what we’re doing and it’s worked for us, so I don’t see any reason to change now.

Another example of their being happy with the 4th seed, no need in trying to bring in an impact player.

    Q. You and your staff are entering the final year of your contracts without any assurance that you’ll be here beyond this season. Does that allow you the freedom to push and grind forward the way you have in the past?

    A. I can’t worry about that. I’m not happy about it. Not at all. I don’t think anybody on this staff should be worried about a contract based on what we’ve done here the past five years, but it is what it is. We’re going to continue to work and do what we do. I haven’t worried about that in the past, and I’m not going to worry about that now. We’ve got business to tend to on the court. We’re trying to win a title here. Everything else will take care of itself in the end, as long as you’re pushing toward that ultimate goal.

And that is possibly the biggest bunch of BS I've ever heard him say.

Not to mention he once again let's us know he's aiming high for that 4th seed. Yay. :-/

  16. Put it like this, in terms of combo of size and athleticism, Josh Smith ranks near the top of the list in the NBA, and he also has great coordination as well.

The guy has proven on numerous occasions he can be a very dangerous player attacking the basket. His back to the basket game is not that great but his face up game, he could be as good as any PF in this league at that. Even without a back to the basket game he should at least score 19 PPG, AT LEAST.

What you just described isn't "talent" it's "potential" and I would agree with you.

  17. I too used to be strictly sony when it came to electronics. No matter what I was getting, it had to be sony because of their quality and performance reputation. However, they are now living off that reputation, at least as far as televisions go. Quality wise there are 4 brands that produce a better picture than Sony...Pioneer, Samsung, Panasonic and some argue that even the Sharp looks better. Their quality is still up there but it is no longer sitting alone at the top. You factor that in plus a 15% extra cost and Sony is going the wrong way. I hate it too because now I actually have to research electronics before I buy them.

  18. You're certainly right about that. I think the point that people are trying to make in this thread, well at least me, is that Woodson does seem to know what he's talking about so he's not clueless or a moron as he is far too often labeled.

I can't speak for others of course, but being one that has labled Woody a "moron" I can assure you I'm not comparing him to some average message board wanker. Any time I speak down on the guy I'm comparing him to his peers. So, to me, he is a moron when compared to other past and present NBA head coaches. The guy knows more basketball than all of us combined on HawkSquawk but that doesn't make him a decent coach.
