  1. Quote: Thank you for posting this topic! For all of you who argued with me on the other thread about how fans feel about Smooth I hope some of these people help you realize what I meant.Look at the number of posters who believe Josh Smith is overrated. So to say this guy is truely appreciated is untrue.I agree that his game isn't without flaws but he nor the Hawks have done enough for the National media to rate them at all.But capstone didn't say who the media overrates he said the fans.In my opinion it has to be: 1.Marvin Williams - Look at DJlaysitup's sig 2.Sheldon Williams - After one month last season many people expect alot of this guy.Not me! 3.Esteban Batista - This one surprised even me on the other thread Simply put.If a player is drafted #2 in the draft and has not shown consistent drive on the court to be great and the fans of that team are forced to talk about potential and what they will see one day in the future then that player is overrated.AKA Marvin Williams HAHA!!! you caught these fools in the act. i wonder what they gonna say now. who on our damn team is worth being rated besides smooth and jj....none CASE CLOSED
  2. smith must of gotten a new contract or something? if he didnt then yall dudes crazy and i will personally start clownin everybody who said smith...im gonna clown them real hard!!! let me check the forum section to see if he gotten it. maybe ai missed a thread about his new contract or something.
  3. does anybody play trombone, used to play trombone or is good at writing music? if you do can you please write me some songs that my trombone section (marching band) can play. like this i know there are some musically girted people hear.
  4. Quote: Arroyo vs. Speedy... I would take Arroyo here. Bogans vs. JJ... JJ by a mile Lewis vs. Marvin.. Lewis by a mile. Howard vs. Smoove... Right now it's Howard all day. Foyle vs. Zaza. I take Zaza. Right now, I don't know if it's Battie or Foyle starting for Magic, but Zaza is better than Both. I don't know if it's Arroyo/Nelson or Arroyo/Bogans in the backcourt, but it turns out the same way... i truely like haward but the boy is overrated. is he better than smoove...barely. 5. rafer is a average player but can bring more than what u exspect. the east is gonna be competitive this year im tellin ya I dont get teams like miami, nets, cavaliers and pistons. they must think that there automatic locks. cavs are 1 lebron injury from slippin out the plays, miami is gettin old, chi and det are the only 2 locks.. everyteam in the east except for them 4 teams and philly made improvements this off season.ATL,ORL, MIL, TOR, BOS, WASH, CHAR, and maybe even new york has improved this offseason. we got to be healthy(at least smoove, jj chillz, marv and law) got to be 100 percent this year and will us to 43 wins(just to be safe)
  6. yeah he was good but hes gonna struggle this year becuase he would get double team and force up shots. he will average 17 points while shooting a low percentage.
  7. Quote: Secondly, refer to Chillz's recent polls as to how to gather opinions here in a respectful way. You sound a bit arrogant when you ask your question but then say "kill dogs crap" and "dumbies." There will always be those who can't respond to what you want to find out but it doesn't help when you ask for opinions while at the same time lacing your question with not so subtle insults. Do you really want to know about how big Smoove could be in this city or do you want to insult me and others like me who sort of are LEGITIMATELY disgusted with Vick right now? Just wondering. what the hell are u saying? i was with you on yo first paragraph but u lost me with the 2nd paragraph. i eliminated the talk of the negativity of vick because i hear it and see it everywhere and i wanted FOR ONCE TO NOT TALK ABOUT THE sheit(excuse my language). if i wanna talk about it then i will go to the falcons board
  8. Quote: As much as people want to slurp him on this board, it will never happen. He isn't Dominique, and most likely won't be. damnit hawks fans are slurping on him because were got damn thirsty.
  9. Quote: This city is all about media hype. There was a lot of hype when Vick came out and it interested the city. even without the hype, believe it or not more folks in and outside georgia know smith than you would think. if he becomes an allstar calliber player then folks would say "u heard of that smith dude that plays for the hawks, he got them winning games". then they would jump on the hawks bandwagon and act liked they always watched the hawks like they did the falcons.also, u said the city is about hype/ what hype. just because 1 player got hyped coming here doesnt mean this city is about hype
  10. what do yall think. i think he is on his way. if the hawks can become a playoff team this year and smoove put up all star numbers i think he can become the face of the city. of course he wont be the face of the league(nor the top 5 player anytime soon)but it could happen. Before yall go saying "mike vick is overrated or mike vick kills dogs crap" think about this both. Both are unique(running ability/jumping and blockin) and both have flaws(passing/shooting). yes, mike vick was number one overall pick WE ALL KNOW THAT, he was expected to do good WE ALL KNOW THAT. yes he went through differ systems WE ALL KNOW THAT. but im not talkin bout that. basically for the dumbies im asking " can smoove be the face of the city or a close 2nd"?
  11. predict your hawks indivitually team stats. we will visit this before the season starts smoove 22/10/5/2 or 19/10/4/3 marvin 17/7/3 jj 25/6/6 acie 11/7 ast chillz 13/6 rebs horford and sheldon 10/8/2(a peace) team stats 97 points a game 16 in defense whats yall
  12. right now hes better than everybody u named(u can make an arguement with ray allen). he should get in over them
  13. i just think we got just so we could have an excuse in getting law. but i think horford will be a solid player
  14. joe johnson is a 1st tier allstar heres the lists 1sr tier superstars(in order) duncan shaq kobe wade lebron nash kidd(hes no lower then 2nd tier superstar) these guys are a little better than the 2nd tier superstars 2nd tier superstars(in order) pierce KG mcgrady iverson staudemire ok you can argue about staudemire and iverson but the others are clearly 2nd tier superstars thses guys are arent better than the 1st tier superstars(win/loss wise with the acception of kobe, wade and lebron)but are clearly better than the 1st tiers allastars 1st tier allstars(in no order) jj vince gilbert redd rashard lewis ray allen marion bosh baron davis 2nd tier(in no order) butler dwight howard(soon to be promoted) josh howard gordan, hinrich, deng(deng is soon to be promted) josh smith(should put up at least the same numbers as last year) all jefferson(him and smith should be close) richard jefferson jason richardson antwan jamison if jj is an allstar this year then he would have to have an allstar year with a DECENT playoff team. he should be an allstar this year. he should be out vince carter and MAYBE gilbert. but if it comes down to jj and pierce then its a no brainer its gonna be pierce. but both should make it because both teams should make the playoffs this year
  15. i think we should give josh smith a nickname too. smoove just sucks. i think it should be "the human entertainment system" the godfather(horford) acie law(the name is cool enough) scarface(marvin)
  16. Quote: Quote: And I think Horford could be the Wade in the sense of getting the ring before the two most hyped up guys because of the better situation. I could see that for Durant, but Oden? Sorry but are you crazy? That team is stacked, the only positions we have an advantage on is JJ and Smoove, but I am not sold on Smoove being ahead of Aldridge as of right now. Sorry, I just don't see Portland ahead of us unless Marvin starts taking steroids and Speedy/Law plays like an above average point guard. smoove>>aldridge
  17. 1. chicago 2. cleveland 3. toronto 4 boston we can compete aginst every one else

  21. y SEKOU SMITH The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 06/30/07 They didn't partake in the league's frenzied trade circus on draft night, but the Hawks aren't done tinkering with their roster yet. Thursday night's draft was just the beginning of their offseason shuffle, one that could include as many as two or three more subtle moves to balance the youngest roster in the league. The free agent negotiating period begins Sunday, providing the Hawks one more avenue to fill in their gaps. While they're not expected to be as aggressive as they have been in past years — they have about $5 million in cap space to work with — they're hunting for complementary scorers to Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, the team leaders last season at 25 and 16.4 points, respectively. And with Eastern Conference rivals like New York, Boston and Charlotte shaking up their ranks — the Knicks traded for Zach Randolph, the Celtics for Ray Allen and the Bobcats for Jason Richardson — the scoring race appears to be on. "It certainly looks like the East is loading up on scoring," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said Friday. "And I think we need one more scorer, unless one of our guys already on the roster takes another step. It could be Josh [smith], Marvin Williams or Josh Childress. But I think there's no doubt we need another scorer." The Hawks nabbed one Thursday night in rookie point guard Acie Law, an accomplished offensive player at Texas A&M who will be asked to, at least at times, play more of a traditional point guard role. "I'm comfortable doing whatever Coach Woodson asks me to do," Law said at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport on Friday while waiting for a connecting flight to Dallas. "I know I won't be the best scorer on the team when I get there [to the Hawks], but I feel like I'll be able to handle that role if they need me to." But Law will have enough on his plate just trying to learn the nuances of the point guard position in the pros, the same way Salim Stoudamire did his rookie season. Both Stoudamire and Tyronn Lue have worked well in that complementary scoring role in the past. Woodson said the Hawks still need to locate another shooting threat, though, and one that in comes in a bit larger package. The Hawks are loaded with frontcourt depth, including rookie forward Al Horford, the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft. The scoring focus for most teams, though, has shifted away from the paint and to the perimeter, for players of all sizes. "Our league just isn't a post-up league anymore," Woodson said. "That's just the way things are going. We're seeing that more and more every year. I think we saw it [Thursday night]. That's why I think there is still going to be some movement. Some of these rookies that got picked ... I could certainly see the Knicks and Milwaukee doing some things, and we should be in the mix, too. "Because I think the Celtics got a little better by bringing Ray over. And Charlotte got better bringing Richardson over. People are following the lead of the Wizards and the Nets, to a degree, by trying to put together a team with multiple scorers. Those three main scorers." ADDED BALANCE The Hawks are still loaded at the forward positions but look bit more balanced today with the addition of rookies Al Horford and Acie Law from Thursday night's NBA draft. A position-by-position look at the Hawks' depth chart: • Point guard: Speedy Claxton, Tyronn Lue, Anthony Johnson, Acie Law • Shooting guard: Joe Johnson, Salim Stoudamire • Small forward: Marvin Williams, Josh Childress • Power forward: Josh Smith, Al Horford, Shelden Williams • Center: Zaza Pachulia, Lorenzen Wright, Solomon Jones
