  1. Horford is a true 4 and Marvin is a true 3.
  2. You should have mentioned this 6 months ago. Theres no way in hell it would happen now considering that Kaman's value has probably tripled. He's averaging 17 and 14 with 3 blocks. He's also the only NBA caliber center on his entire team while it seems the Clippers are OK at the wings. Maggette also has decent value even though he's an expiring.
  3. Just use the 2nd rounder on Joey Dorsey. Morris sucks.
  4. yuck...they didn't even get the shot off in time.
  5. The Denver broadcasters just gave Joe props. Let's hope Denver can tie it up and go into OT.
  6. Joe played 42 minutes because we never really pulled away. You have to remember that we have some games where we allowed the other team to get back in after leading by 15+ it like Memphis and Cleveland(although we eventually won)and games where we have actually trailed after leading by double digits like Jersey,Minnesota, and Detroit. This team has no idea how to play with the lead for some reason. If we had made an effort to run after rebounds like we did in the 1st half we would have been up by about 30 in the 3rd IMO. We were up by about 14-20 points the majority of the 2nd half but I always thought the Bulls had a good chance to get back in the game until Joe stole the ball and hit the 3. The Bulls are a pretty bad team this year...any decent team would have gotten the game in single digits in the 3rd quarter considering how poorly we played but they never went on a run to make it close.
  7. Joe was the man today. His points were also very timely...he basically but Chicago in a huge hole to start and they had to play catch up from that point on. He also responded in the 4th qtr when the Bulls made their little mini-run to cut it into 12...capped off by that steal and 3 in the corner that officially sealed the game.
  8. The majority of our turnovers in the 2nd half were unforced and in the half court set. Chillz traveling on the baseline when he's wide open...offensive foul on Chilz. Josh Smith two offensive foul on moving screen(which was BS)and drive to the bakset...Joe Johnson throwing the ball past half court while trying to pass to Marvin. We were getting defensive stops in the 2nd half we just handed the ball to Joe or AJ after the rebound and walked it up instead of making the outlet pass like we did in the 1st half. Most of the turnovers in the 1st half were while running. I recall Josh Smith throwing the ball away trying to make a full court pass and Law throwing a dime to Marvin(that was dropped) but I will take those because for every turnover on the break there are like 5 dunks and layups that go along with it. I don't expect to score 69 points in a half but I would atleast like to go back to what got us the lead when something clearly isn't working(the 3rd quarter in particular). Quote: And we were actually pretty good in the half court offense in the 1st half. The half court offense will always look good when Joe Johnson is abusing the other team and hitting J after J but he can't always do that. Chillz,Smith,Horford, and Marvin(although he can score in the half court)are all much more effective offensively when they are running the floor.
  9. Defense is not our problem. Our roster is designed to be a fast break team. We are undersized, athletic, and we don't have the shooters or low post presence to run successful half court offense. If we pushed the ball in the 2nd half like we did in the 1st we would have won by even more. We left Chicago alot of chances to get back in the game by slowing down the game and committing dumb turnovers but fortunately Joe bailed us out(which he can't do all the time)and we faced a Chicago team that can't score.
  10. The Hawks can sign a player for the MLE(Duhon,Diop, etc) even if they re-sign both Joshes and Speedy doesn't decide to retire. I just don't think that will fit within the Hawks budget.
  11. Marvin was playing well even when the Hawks were struggling at 3-6. He has been our most consistent player and the most reliable second option on the team but the other players that were struggling(Joe,Josh,AJ)are no longer struggling which is why the Hawks record has gotten so much better this month. The two biggest reasons why the Hawks have improved are AJ's recent play this month and Joe finally playing like he did last year. It took him until half time of the Toronto game but he finally got his swagger back and hasn't had a bad game since.
  12. Quote: BK had been under such pressure about duplicating a position and ignoring need with drafting Marvin over Deron and Paul.. that he would have been crazy to do it again. This is true but I don't think he was under pressure for not taking a defensive big man. He was under pressure in the national media because he used 4 1st round picks on wing players in his 1st 3 drafts while ignoring the point guard position. I doubt Phillips arena would have booed if he had traded down and taken Rondo,Lowry,Farmar,or Williams. The media and Hawks fans wouldn't have clowned him if he had taken Roy or Foye either. As long as BK didn't take Shelden,Gay,or those project centers...most people would have saw it as a decent draft.
  13. Paul took the same New Orleans team that won 18 games in 05 to 38 wins in 06. I would think a team with Paul and Joe Johnson would win more than 38 especially how weak the East was at the time.
  14. They wouldn't do it. Raptor fans want one of Smith,Marvin,or Horford for Ford or Calderon. They already have their versions of Chil and Shelden off the bench in Delfino and Humphries so there's no incentive for them to do it.
  15. I didn't say they would overturn it...I said that not every flagrant 2 ends up in a suspension..The league office always has the final say. Like AHF said..I expect him to be suspended but it doesn't mean that it was intentional. Since you appear to be a Bulls fans..I'm sure you can relate to this example. Posey only got one game for this when it was clear that it was intentional and he has had a past history of committing dirty & intentional hard fouls. Al is probably going to miss more than one game(based on Sterns recent ridiculous suspensions)even though it didn't have any where near the malicious intent that Posey did. If Horford had missed the ball and hit him any where other than the head and Ford didn't get hurt no one would care. If Deng broke his wrist on the way down or something Posey would have gotten a double-digit game suspension. This is why the league has turned into a joke.
  16. Not neccesirily. The league reviews all flagrant fouls and can overturn them if the ref made the wrong call. For example...remember the "flagrant" foul by Hoffa on Marvin which was a joke. The league overturned that and he never received any fine or suspension. I don't know what's worse...the horrible call or Steve's reaction. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6144399317124583419
  17. Mitchell was a very intense player so no surprise there. It looked like he wanted to go after Woody not Horford. Maybe he thought Woody ordered a hard foul ala Isiah Thomas in the Knicks Nuggets brawl last year. None of his yelling was directed at Horford. After looking at the replay it was clearly unintentional.
  18. Here is a site that basically has all of Hollinger's stats(not that I understand them) for free. We are ranked 13th in Defense(slightly above average) and 19th in offense(slightly below average) according to Hollinger's possesion stats. As some one said earlier...I imagine our defensive ranking has gone up since Lue and Zaza have been out with injury. Some of that is definitely due to playing a few crap teams though. http://www.knickerblogger.net/stats/2008/index.htm
  19. There are so many wrong things with that post. Brandan Wright making the Hawks better immediately? He was/is the definition of a project. Also....LOL at trading Marvin for a mediocre 2 like Peterson to make room for Yi. Marvin>Yi.
  20. Defensive FG % doesn't tell the whole story. We are top 10 in the league in turnovers forced, top 5 at defending the 3,and our opponents are 25th in free throw attempts. Our defensive FG % is 15th but our overall defense is probably better than that when you take into account the things listed above.
  21. Quote: So Chris Paul is infinitely greater than Marvin Willliams and Acie Law because of three seasons? So I guess McGrady and Garnett don't measure up to the likes of Damon Stoudamire and Keith Van Horn who outshined them in their first 3-4 years in the league. This is Marvin's 2nd year in the league as a starter This is Law's 1st You pessimist SOBs are the reason why this city doesn't even deserve to ever have a successful franchise Your comparison doesn't make sense. Paul is only a year older than Marvin and he's still younger than Law(who you should actually compare to Harrington, not Paul).Your Van Horn Mcgrady comparison holds no weight because KVH was 4 years older than Tmac when they were drafted in 97. I could basically use your analogy to show why Darko was a better pick than Carmelo Anthony because he's a year younger despite being much worse. The only thing worse than people who keep bringing up how bad the trade was(when the general consensus is that it was a bad move)are the people who still try to convince others that it was the right move. It was a questionable decision at the time(though not nearly as bad as people make it out to be)and it turned out to be a bad move in hindsight. It's time to let it go...
  22. Of course...but the complaining is getting old. It's been two years. Portland could have had Paul and Williams but traded down and drafted Martell Webster because they had Sebastian Telfair ...Detroit could have had a number of franchise players in the 2003 draft but took Darko..Toronto took Hoffa(hell we took Chill) when they could have had Iguodala,Jefferson,Smith,etc..yet those team's fan bases have moved on because it's old news. Hawks fans should do the same.
  23. He also hit the game winning layup. He's a great player but it's been over two years since the 05 draft....let it go. The good news is that Memphis played an OT game so they should be a little fatigued tomorrow vs the Hawks.
  24. Jersey,Washington, and Indiana are all down. Milwaukee plays Seattle so they will probably win. I also hope Miami loses even though we are about 4-5 games ahead.
