  1. If Billy Knight knew how to build a team he wouldn't be getting fired. It is that simple. In his two opportunities to build teams from the ground-up he has failed to get the job done. When you waste draft picks on marginal talent sooner or later it comes back to haunt you. Oh man that was funniest quote I've read on this forum. That made me choke on my water.
  2. Quote: Billy probably isn't going to be the GM after this season, but you guys typically overstate things in your hatred for anything associated with Billy Knight. Question. When Atlanta gets a new GM, do you think that GM is going to come in and blow everything up by getting rid of everyone Billy Knight brought in? If you answer truthfully, you will see the answer is no. In fact, the talent Billy has put into place is the reason fans are disappointed with this season and the reason there are guys out there chomping at the bit to get an opportunity to coach this team. The fact is, Joe Johnson, Mike Bibby, Al Horford, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Josh Childress, and Acie Law are the primary reasons guys like Larry Brown are interested in taking this job. If Billy is so terrible and so inept as a GM, then how in the hell has he put together a talented young team that one of the best coaches in NBA history wants to come in and coach? Just as I expected though when Billy took the job. Billy did all the hard work. He's the GM that has been forced to suffer through the losing to build the team the right way. A new GM will come in, inherit what Billy has put into place, and will win with what Billy has put into place. In typical fan and media reaction though, Billy will get no credit for what he has done. All the credit will go to the new GM, despite the fact that the core of the team was put into place by Billy Knight. This happened in Memphis, and it will happen here. But you guys are going to get your wish. Billy is probably not going to be the GM of this team after June 30th, if not sooner. I fully anticipate all of you talking about how much better whoever the Hawks hire is than Billy Knight, and I fully anticipate you giving that person all the credit when he makes a minor tweak or two to the roster. Of course he isn't going to be tenured this off season. When the corny ESPN commentators make a smug remark about passing on Paul and sometimes Roy concerning the Hawks it has to eat at some of the Hawk's owners. As a fan it eats me alive sometimes.
  3. Well I ask the question because if you look at it, their aren't many teams that actually build around a SF around. Lebron can be classified as a SF, PG, or SG but he's has the game of a SG and that is where he's at his best. Doesn't Wally start a SF? T-Mac again can be a SF but he has the handles specifically for a SG and Battier mans the SF position. Carmelo and Wallace I do consider the best player on their teams that are strictly SFs but what is their team's success? Denver is doing well but they have no chance to win a series in the West(they may be more defensively inept than the Warriors) much less make the playoffs. Charlotte is just an organization in neutral. Durant may be the exception but plays for one of the worst teams in the league.
  4. Who on their current team can be considered the best player on their team positioned at Small Forward? http://www.nba.com/teams/teamIndividualLin...er&file=roster/
  5. Quote: really? I'm just shooting the breeze. I know Johnson is the superior player and an all-star talent. My point is he needs a backup and West is more than capable of contributing. There won't be much of a drop-off as many people would assume with Mario playing limited but consistent minutes.
  6. J.J. Vastly better offense game Better 3 pointer shooter Better mid-range shooter Better post up game Better ball handler Better post defender Better rebounder(slightly) Better free throw shooter Mario West Vastly better defender(all-nba caliber) Better athlete Better shot blocker Better perimeter defender Better driver and stronger finisher Better intensity Better at stealing Lol with that said, can the guy get 10-15 minutes a game? He will not take over a game but he has a positive presence on the floor and he won't embarrass you.
  7. Quote: This is such a FAKE AZZ FAN BASE. JJ scores 29 (( bleepin )) points in the 1st half, and the only mention about it during this thread, is about him actually NOT trying to do the exact same thing, because the Warriors will double him . . like JJ doesn't PASS the ball when need be. Let Smoove, Marvin, or Chill even put up 15 in a half, and people are slobbering all over them. Such fakeness. I kind of hope JJ misses his first 3 or 4 shots, just to see how some of you woul react. And SmoooveTheFuture, this isn't necessarily directed at you. This is directed at all of those fake azz Hawks fans that down a layer when they're playing bad, but don't even give them props when they're playing welll. It's the same ish that KG went through in his last year in Minny. Such a fake azz fan base this is. That's why no one cares about the Hawks. It's not how you start a game but rather how you finish one...
  8. I actually support Coach Mike Woodson... GETTING THE HELL OUT OF DODGE
  9. The organization had their chance at greatness several times but blew it. A.I. and Smoove in the same draft woulda been spectacular but he chose the one player that is actually not going to most likely get extended(Chilldress is a helluva player and he has raised trade stock up tremendously but was still the wrong player taken.) He drafted on a player with the "most potential, small need" and the player "with the most need, limited potential" and that logic has backfired on him. To JJ's defense he hasn't had anything close to an inside presence and is just now getting a NBA caliber PG.
  10. Pierce punks him before and now after the break. Pierce goes for 26 second half Average Joe zip. He has an iso on big fetus beyond the 3 point line and just stares at him unable to get by a 330 pound dude. Before the season I was a big JJ guy believing he was on of the top tier Guards in the league just below the Kobes and Wades, but something isn't right about him this season.
  11. I'm sorry but Z sucks really bad. Consider trading him for a late 1st high second. I swear he pulls a Keon Clark and drinks during the game.
  12. I surely hope not... finishing 8-9 games under the .500 and cementing yourself in the 8th spot is not what I call a good season even for the Hawks. The 6th position is right there for the taking and all they have to do is finish just under .500 for the season.
  13. Nice job starting Edward Scissor hands and not giving the Richardson kid more game time. He only comes in knocks down most of his shot and actually catches the ball. I marvel at your job security Coach.
  14. I think some are missing a great point here, Avery and Jackson had immensly more success than Woody before their big traded player got there. If they made those comments it just to get their big acquisitions more acclimated to the new surroundings and then they can together work on a game plan when it allows.

    JJ's weight

Quote: and Marvin. Those guys were supposed to be "Alpha Dog", but they are not. JJ doesn't seem interested in being his best and Marvin has not the skills. JJ does look slow, plays slow, moves slow. This summer can be interesting with both moved. I'd rather have the Josh's, Al, Bibby and what we can get with the two "Beta Dogs". JJ and Marvin for Miller, Javaris and their '08 #1. I was thinking if we had somehow drafted Roy, that a trade involving the Heat with J.J. for their number one and Mark Blount? Would they go for it, I would think they would with the most dynamic backcourt in the league. Draft the best big and get this Center problem taken cared of permanently or go after the Eric Gordon kid. Oh, with Starvin' Marv don't get me started...

    JJ's weight

Do you think he should try to get down to a lower playing weight or a more toned base? He tries to post but ultimately gets doubled teamed when he approaches the paint and creates turnovers. He has no blow by ability and relies to much on floaters and fadeaways. He seems more and more un-athletic each game. I remember when he first signed their were concerns about a chronic arthritis thing with his foot? Maybe a lower playing weight he can regain some agility and a little more hops? Thoughts
  17. I'm sorry Marvin may need to be traded. Marvin Williams = fools gold. It's funny when he was making those little jumpers people wanted to actually build around this guy.
