  1. I hope Bibby doesn't mistake "aggressive" for taking ill advised "volume" jump shots instead of taking it to the hole and drawing doubles or a foul. He needs to get his teammates more involved and being more vocal out there.
  2. Wow, ok Hater I see you've become quite the resident statistician. Let us go over this slowly. Adjusted minutes to compare stats Marvin's Career Season Totals Year : 07-08 Team : ATL GS : 80 MIN : 2765 FG% : 46% 3P% : 10% FT% : 82% FGM-A : 424-918 3PM-A : 1*- 10 FTM-A : 336-409 OFF : 119 DEF : 338 REB : 457 AST : 137 STL : 81 BLK : 33 TO : 127 PF : 225 PTS : 1,185 Al's Total Year : 07-08 Team : PTL G : 79 GS : 31 MIN : 2765 FG% : 43% 3P% : 33% FT% : 74% FGM-A : 374-871 3PM-A : 54-165 FTM-A : 273-367 OFF : 124 DEF : 333 REB : 458 AST : 124 STL : 59 BLK : 54 TO : 163 PF : 250 PTS : 1,286 Where did I say Thornton was better than MW. I said played like him meaning - intensity, hunger, 3-pt. threat, explosiveness, etc. That is what Thornton has shown me playing in a rough conference with Cassell/Knight, as your pgs. Worst than A.J./Lue IMO. Who said anybody hated him. I don't know if he killed a couple of dudes or save several children from fire or water. One thing though is he is not meeting expectations. He was drafted here to be potentially the #1 option and the very least #2. Tell me what you see now Sport.
  3. Quote: Quote: How about this deal Bibby and Zaza for Kaman and Mobley or whoever makes the salaries work. 19 million in salary dump in today's market is worth it's weight in gold and diamonds combined. Let's face it, la needs to go back and rebuild. They have the 6th pick and they can choose any of the promising bigs to replace Kaman. They need to build around Al Thornton (who we all thought MW would be playing like right now) and they have question marks at every position. Why would the Clippers trade Kaman? They could have a really good team next year with Kaman, Maggette , and Brand if he doesn't opt out, plus that high draft pick they've got. As for your hopes that Marvin can take his game to Al Thornton's level, I've got some great news for you: Marvin's already outplaying LA's 24 year old rookie. Al Thornton's stats: PPG 12.7 RPG 4.5 APG 1.2 SPG 0.6 BPG 0.5 FG% 0.429 FT% 0.743 3P% 0.331 MPG 27.3 And Marvin: PPG 14.8 RPG 5.7 APG 1.7 SPG 1.0 BPG 0.4 FG% 0.462 FT% 0.822 3P% 0.100 MPG 34.6 Um, maybe the Clips do the trade because they suck. Both Magg and Brand have player options and they will both opt out. Livingston probably won't be any kind of threat he could of become. Somebody will offer Brand a near max contract and this will probably be his last big money contract so it would be foolish for him to stay being 29 and coming off an achilles injury. This is not NBA Live where players always play at a high level (cough shaq) simply off their reputation. Injuries take place, players age, players lose ability, it happens. Um, Squirt those stats are slightly different except for Marvin averaging more than 7 minutes per. If you ask any GM right now who are playoff ready, most would take A. Thornton over MW.
  4. WTF u fail.Where the [censored] is Horford? Whoops, forgot all about the young stallion! Acie/Speedy/Duhon? J.J./Mobley J. Smitty/M.W./Antoine Wright Horford/J. Smitty Kaman/Andersen The east would be ours for the see able future while Boston and Detroit age to death.
  5. Trading for the overrated J. O'neil (who I was big guy of) is not the way to go. How about this deal Bibby and Zaza for Kaman and Mobley or whoever makes the salaries work. For us 1. Acie/Speedy/FA 2. JJ/Mobley 3. MW/Antoine Wright 4. JS/Solo 5. Kaman/D. Andersen The key is for Speedy to be relatively healthy by the trade deadline! Depending on the deal, I'm not opposed to trading MW/Chilldress for a traditional PF or decent PG.
  6. Quote: As much as I would love to trade Marv (I have made numerous threads about it) The thing that scares me the most is the lesson of Mcgrady. This is about the time of his career where Toronto decided to let Mcgrady go to Orlando. Eeerily Marvin's career numbers almost mirror Mcgrady's. He went from avg 15ppg in his last year in Tor to 26ppg the year after. If we dump Marvin that is the chance we take. If he blows up twice we basically get fukked by the Chris Paul draft twice. I think MW would blow up somewhat if traded to another team but Mcgrady is infinitely more talented than MW. Mcgrady was playing second fiddle to Carter and when he was traded to Orlando that was his team and subsequently became the leader and he blew up. Unless some team wants to build around MW exclusively, I don't think he will reach all-star status. Quote: "When you have a duck booty like he has, it is hard to stand upright. You'd think he attended college in OZ" You didn't know he was bunk buddies with Simon Adebisi.
  7. Mario did miss a wide open 15 footer yes but let's go in deeper into the scenario. 3 some odd seconds left, ball inbound from under Celts basket if I'm not mistaken, I believe it was Joe's shot but he was doubled and found the open man, Mario obviously cold coming off the bench and shoots his first shot with 0.1 seconds left on the clock. HELLO!!
  8. Man, you MW sack warmers are unbelievable. Who is matched up with JS most of the the game? Probably the best overall defender in the league. The dumb ass coach sat JS the whole second quarter and made him lose all the momentum he established in the first quarter. As soon as KG was inserted with 10:00 in the 2nd, he should of matched the move or atleast when KG picked up his 3rd fould with around 4:00 left when of been the perfect time to insert JS than making him sit out the whole 2nd and halftime. How accessible is it for a 6'9" forward to shoot semi open jump shots? That's the easiest offensive move at his disposal on the floor and it's a reason for that. He can get that shot anytime he wants like JS shooting open ass 3's anytime he wants. Why not drive either left or right since you have the skillset to do so? Oh, that's right because he has weak hands and a slow and high dribble with no agility comparable to Zaza. How can a guy pushing 6'9" 240-250 not mix it up down low with swingmen guarding him? Oh, because he is the softest player on the court maybe.
  9. I mean really, what's the deal with him coming out after six minutes every game? Is Woodson trying to imply that he is really a bench player ala R. Ivey starting 2-3 minutes every game and then Lue comes in and plays the starters minutes? How many times can he drive and finish as weakly as Zaza? Didn't he have a 33 inch vertical ish, 9ft. standing reach ish, and a huge wing span and why is he barely reaching the rim?
  10. http://www.nba.com/news/NBA_playoff_schedule_firstround.html (1) Boston Celtics vs. (8) Atlanta Hawks: Game 1 - Sun April 20 Atlanta at Boston 8:30PM ET TNT Game 2 - Wed April 23 Atlanta at Boston 8:00PM ET TNT Game 3 - Sat April 26 Boston at Atlanta 8:00PM ET ESPN/R Game 4 - Mon April 28 Boston at Atlanta 8:00PM ET TNT Game 5 * Wed April 30 Atlanta at Boston TBD TBD Game 6 * Fri May 2 Boston at Atlanta TBD TBD Game 7 * Sun May 4 Atlanta at Boston TBD TBD Damn, wanted a game on Sat. but from now until then let's work hard in practice on running different plays for guys instead of stale jump shots(Bibby, Marvin) and J.J. isolations. He could gave the scrubs the 3rd/4th quarter last game and grinded the starters for those missed little minutes in practice for preparation with the four remaining days left until Sunday.
  11. Quote: i feel the same way, i really just want to take out my gun and shoot the hell out of him. But i know that he is not coming back next year and just waiting for that.... Come on newbie it's not that serious that you need to use a firearm. While you can use the olympic caliber bow and arrow I just purchased online.
  12. *Sighs* That bumbling idiot had the chance to go top five last year being the only true center behind Oden and now he won't even see the lotto. I'm pretty sure we would have drafted him if he declared last season knowing BK so I give Hibbert credit for not declaring. Unless he can get more lean and rip, I don't see him being a starter in the league. Somebody should have given him the script of James Forrest back in 93-94.
  13. Quote: I know Washington will probably win but why would you make this thread BEFORE the game is over? :eye-popping: :Handshake_emoticon_-_UPDATED: :static: It's a good day!
  14. these last two games. Give Solo, Acie, and Salim atleast 15 minutes per game to end the season especially against the likes of Miami. If they are going to start a bad D-league team than our bench needs to match their minutes. Starting line up: 1. Acie 2. Mario 3. J. Rich 4. Solo 5. Zaza Again it doesn't matter if we get blown out, win, lose, or draw. Nothing to lose and potentially something to gain if they can develop some kind of rhythm/confidence somewhere along the way going into the new season.
  15. Hopefully that WNBA ball he currently plays with doesn't affect his ability to play with an NBA ball. Don't know if that is an issue with international players but just saying... This guy is already better than ZaZa Crapula should be a welcome edition with championship success and experience in a professional league.
  16. It was over the top but it was a not so subtle message saying "You will get blown out in the first round". He absolutely destroyed the first unit of a team that wanted the game bad at home. If he did that in your house what will he do in Boston? BTW, how can Marvin "busty" Williams talk smack being one of the most inefficient players on the court?
  17. I feel very uncomfortable with Woody closing out the rest of this season. Him leading the young squad into battle in the first round of the playoffs... *shutters*
  18. Damn, Josh Smith almost embarrassed somebody for life!
  19. Quote: Awesome. I go to my class, miss the entire fourth quarter on the way there... and when I get there, it so happens the class was canceled. So the first time that I decide to go to class instead of watching the hawks and I miss the best freaking quarter and ot that we have ever played... And the class gets canceled. God loves me. LOL, what type of class starts at 9 p.m.?
  20. Acie jr. and Zaza needs to do laps around the Grizzlies arena. They blew a 40 point lead in less than one quarter. Most of it is on A.L. jr.
  21. Quote: BK indicated that both Smoove and Chillz are restricted FAs and we plan on matching any offers for both. He indicated that we would be spending more money next year and that we would likely approach but not exceed the luxury tax. He said that as GM, he did not believe you had to exceed the luxury tax to be good and that the only way he would ask an owner to exceed the luxury tax is if doing so would put the team in contention for a championship. He said that the restrictions that the judge had imposed in the ongoing legal battle between the ASG and Belking have been lifted and that the restrictions DID limit their abilites to do some things but that is no longer the case. He said the legal wrangling is ongoing and that as things currently stand, Belkin is still one of the team's owners. He indicated that we would PURSUE a trade this summer in an rffort to improve the team but that we would not realistically be in the hunt for the top FAs. He said he would only make a trade if it clearly made us better. He stated that he likes all of our young guys but that sometimes you have to trade good guys to get better (hmm...Marvin?, Chillz?, Smoove?). He indicated that Horford is a PF but that he had to play Center for us as we are currently constructed. He said there were VERY few quality Centers out there and that while Al is a PF, he is better than a lot of Centers out there. He pointed out how a lot of teams are playing small ball now. He said that Al was a good player now but that he was going to be great. He compared him to Karl Malone. He said that Al was the only rookie he has ever drafted (including his stints in Indy and MEM) who has never asked him for ANYTHING in his first season. He said that Al has GREAT character and that he is just an exceptional young man. He indicated that if we were able to get a good Center, he could envision a scenario where Smoove moves to the 3 and Marvin goes to the bench. He thinks Marv and Chillz would be great off the bench. He said that we need a vocal, veteran leader in the locker room. He said that JJ has become a little more vocal but that he is a quiet leader who leads by example. He said that JJ leads by being first on the practice court, first in the weight room, etc. He said that we need a veteran (not necessarily an old veteran but maybe someone with 5-6 years in the league) to come in and take on that role. A little funny story about JJ is that he apparently goes around the locker room with his shirt off teasing the younger guys by showing off his guns. I thought that was hilarious. He said that David Andersen's game was more like Jason Collier's than that of a defensive stopper. He said that he had talked to Dale Davis but it sounded like BK didn't think he would help us because he thinks teams would leave Dale open and double someone else with his man (I disagree but what can you say?). He said he would like to see us play more uptempo but that he understands Woody's point that we can't play uptempo if we don't rebound and defend on the other end. He said that the NBA is a copy cat league and that GS, PHO and DEN are the only teams that are committed to playing uptempo at all costs. He tiptoed carefully around all the criticism of Woody. He didn't throw Wody under the bus but he didn't really defend him either. He just kept saying "I see your point" when people made negative statements and he said that the coaching situation and his own situation would be addressed in the off season "one way or another." He indicated that he would like to see JJ and Bibby play less but that he thinks Woody just gets caught up in trying to win the game and he decides to ride them too much. He said that you can ride a guy on occasion but that you have to be concerned about their AVERAGE mpg. He said that he is aware that JJ's mpg are among the league leaders and he thinks JJ gets tired late in games and he think it limits his effectiveness. He said the he and Woody have talked about it and that Woody agrees that JJ plays too many minutes. He said that Woody will say after a game that he knows that JJ played too many minutes in that game and then he will go back out and play him too many minutes the very next game. He said that he would like to see Mario and Jeremy play more at SG. He said they are night and day as playes, one offensive and one defensive. He said that NOBODY likes being guarded by Mario and that he frustrates guys by "getting up in 'em." He said that any time a guy like Kobe, T Mac, Pierce, etc got hot on the perimeter, he would put Mario on them. He said that Jeremy can really shoot the ball and that he had scored 50+ in an NBDL game. To add a little on the Speedy front, apparently he went in for the microfracure surgery but when the doctor cut him open, he determined that microfracture surgery would not help his condition. The doctor did cleaned out his knee while he was in surgery. Billy said that it appeared that Speedy would try to play again next season. I'm sure I am forgetting something but that was pretty much it. So do we still have rights to D. Andersen? I was going to make a thread about him but here some new info here. http://www.euroleague.net/competition/play...e=csk&pcode=AKT His free throw and 3 point % are video game like. I think he would be the perfect replacement for Zaza that could hit open shots from 15-20 feet all day. Diop or Kwame could be brought in for rebounding and defensive purposes. Another replacement for Chilldress could be Antoine Wright. He would not cost as much as Chill and could back up both SF and SG. J. Smith at Sf is not that bad of an idea. Obviously you don't want him there too many minutes but there are certain advantages there. Him there we could be a top 3 defensive squad and he does provide slashing at that position and the ability to get "and 1's". With Bibby, Joe, Horford, and potentially D. Andersen you have to believe they can shoot from 15-25 feet particularly well and alleviate some of Josh's errant shots.
  22. Marvin and Horford had worst games than him against the Bulls? Horford - 32 min. with 3 points is unacceptable. Marvin - same old same old. How about Woodson with a 7 man rotation killing everyone by the 4th quarter. (more or less he's been doing it since the all-star break) If Smith had a bad half he deserves criticism but you got to give more to the players that performed more poorly. We can compete with anyone for first 24 minutes of the game but everything unravels after that.
  23. Woody and staff are terrible at developing young talent on our team. Smith and to a certain extent Chilldress have improved despite of the coaching staff. Smith works with Nique and Hakeem to elevate his game. Chilldress was a four year player at good program with Stanford. We need a coach with a guard background (preferably point) to help work and help develop our young talent. Look around the league at the successful coaches that have played guard in the league or college. Horford is coming in playing like a veteran but he has been bred at a program that has prepared him to work hard and become a champion. Billy Donovan as new Atlanta Hawks coach. Make that happen ASG.
  24. Quote: I really don't want any rookies on the team next year. I think we have more than enough young players and that we need to move one or two of them and bring in some solid veterans that can contribute and fill roles. I disagree, we don't have any depth especially when considering J. Childress current contract situation in doubt and can you count on Salim, Speedy, Solo, playing any meaningful minutes in the near future much less on the roster. Hell, I don't even see ZaZa sticking around near the trade deadline of next year. I would love a veteran big but how many have we signed in the past 10 years?
  25. Quote: Quote: I don't remember seeing anyone outside of Chad Ford lauding Darko Milicic as the #2 player in that draft. Like I said though. Many of you are going to act like you never criticized Marvin when he's putting up 24-25 PPG, 8-9 RPG, 3-4 APG, while shooting a high percentage from the field and behind the arc, getting to the free throw line and shooting a high percentage, and playing lock down man up defense. Marvin Williams will be a top 10 NBA player in 2-3 years. Chris Paul won't be. That's why taking Marvin was better than taking Chris Paul, not to mention the fact that Paul doesn't fit what the Hawks want. I missed commenting on this back in my lurking days without an account on here...but LOL, that may be one of the dumbest comments ever. I'm not really a critic of Marvin, but to say that Chris Paul won't be a top 10 player in the NBA in the next 2-3 years is just dumb. Yeah I remember reading that as well back then when I was a locked out lurker... Going out on a limb for a guy who couldn't beat out the likes of Reshawn Terry and Jawad Williams for a starting job.
