  1. Seems that Both James Anderson and Damion James will compete for a roster spot as defensive minded wing. Source: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/1736/damion-james I don't think that's the plan, Anderson is a scorer and defense is one of the points he must improve. D. James is definately a decent defender. Personally I would like to have Anderson playing spot minutes at SG and SF due to his potential rather than DeShawn Stevenson or even Morrow. When playing at San Antonio Anderson showed some promise. Teague/Harris Williams/Jenkins/Anderson Korver/James/Morrow Smith/Scott/Benson?/Williams? Horford/Zaza/Petro

  2. Any fans of Sam Young (6'6", 220#)? He was the starting SF for the Grizzlies during the second half of their 2010-11 season and during their epic dispatching of Danny Ferry's Spurs in 2011. A defensive minded player, Young slid back down the rotation as Tony Allen and O.J. Mayo emerged during the playoffs against the Thunder, then after Rudy Gay returned to their lineup in 2012. Shooting poorly during sparse minutes, he was traded to Philly for basically cap space (to get Gil Arenas) at the trading deadline, then hardly used by Doug Collins. Not a reliable jumpshooter, but he's fairly efficient offensively when he gets his minutes (something that wasn't happening behind Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Turner), and a notorious gym rat. I don't believe he was given his $1.48 QO by the Sixers, so an offer in the $1.25-1.75 million range might be enough to give him a chance to prove himself once again. ~lw3

I agree Young could be one of the best options left at FA, others I would consider Gee, T Williams, B Rush and even Donte Green all of them I think are solid defenders and have some upside
  3. We were a pretty good defensive team last year going mostly with Teague/Hinrich/Joe/Smoove/Zaza. I don' t see where we are much weaker or smaller than say Teague/Harris/Smoove/Horf/Zaza. In fact its bigger. Plug Stevenson in and its pretty good defensively.

Hinrich is an elite defender that can shut down nearly any SG, Harris can`t. Joe is a very good defender at either SG or SF, Smoove isn't a good wing defender, he will be beaten by quicker players and the plan B is Korver a liability on defense and last year we already had problems defending big Centers and players that play well on the post. You also had Marvin to defend big SF on the bench. Now on your bench you have L. Williams, Korver, Morrow, all are liabilities on defense, Jenkins bigger hole seems to be defense also. As I salid we are weak at SG, SF and C defensively
  4. I mean a 24 year old PG that in his first season starting has put 12,5 ppg, 5 apg, 1,5 spg, 0,475 FG%, yes I think we should be looking to extend him, he is one of the best young assets we have on a team entering rebuilding mode. 6-7M$ a year sounds fine.

  5. I just don't see where there is a big dropoff having just lost Joe. Lou williams provided comparable production in fewer minutes for the sixers. Out depth and shooting is greatly improved and for a jump shooting team that's a big deal. Defense won't be as good but I expect Josh and Al to have career years. I can't see us dropping out of the playoffs. I expect us to be right there and be even tougher to beat.

The big dropoff comes from defense, we are an undersized team at very weak defensively at SG, SF and C positions. I think that if we don't get Howard is a lost season but it doesn't matter, we should use the season to develop Teague, Jenkins and Horford as the new go-to guy, and sign some young players at the post to develop them for next season as Jordan Hill or A. Randolph. Next season 2 draft picks and tons of cap space, if you have a good core, FAs would think on signing here.
  6. If you take the "team approach" to win a championship that's fine and shooting is a good thing to have but you have to had definately defense and rebounding and we don't have any of those. We don't have any decent defender at the wings, probably 3 shooters is a little bit too much and after 8 years we lack a true Center that can control the paint.

  7. Barnes is far and away my favorite choice there. Wright was a rookie who put up 25 points in his only start last year, the season finale against.... the Spurs! McGuire has big time potential but he's been in the league 5 years and hasn't really put it together yet, although he's not 1 dimensional like Childress. Jeffries was included in the trade for Felton so he's not an option anymore. I view him pretty much the same as Childress, except that he probably doesn't have any bad blood towards Atlanta like I think Childress does.

Chris Wright is not a starter, one final good game against Derrick Byars and James Anderson does not make him a starter, he is not even starting on Summer Legaue, neither is McGuire, they will be lucky to find a roster spot on any NBA team After we missed James Johnson the best options left that could eventually become valuable pieces are Matt Barnes and Terrence Williams, or sign an offer sheet to Brandon Rush or Alonso Gee.
  8. To Sacramento, damn it!!! I knew we could have him cheap, the best option we had as Starting SF, a versatile player that can do a little of everything and a good defensive player, exactly what we need. I cannot understand why we haven't go after him as Toronto wante him out badly. Now if we want to sign a SF best options are T. Williams, C. Delfino or M. Barnes but as I said I think the plan is to get another Big and play Smith at SF.

  9. We need a starting SF first and foremost. Korver is only a borderline SF and he's backup quality, not starter material.

At the wings we have L. Williams, Jenkins, Morrow, Stevenson and Korver and I agree none of them are starting material but probably Jenkins or Morrow will start at SG. At PF and C we have Horford, Zaza, Petro, Ivan Johnson and Jordan Williams, only Horford is starting material. So the question is where Smith plays? and I really think that Ferry is seeing him as SF, I would not understand Korver signing if Smith is not going to play SF, also on the FA list I don't see any SF that could start on any NBA team just more backup SF and we don't need more of them as we already have Korver and Morrow, only if we could deal for James Johnson.... so I am beginning to think that the rotation is going to be Teague/Harris Jenkins/L. Williams/Morrow Smith/Korver/Stevenson Horford/I. Johnson/Scott Zaza/Petro/Jordan Williams Scott and J. Williams ar probably gone to NBDL, I also hope we cut Stevenson but we have bigger hole at the bigs than at the wings, Petro and Ivan Johnson are not quality backups, we need to sign someone to be quality backup for Zaza.
  10. Probably the best FA at Center remaining, good defense, is still young can provide quality minutes at Center. I think we should sign him, I prefer him than Milicic or A. Randolph as I don't see a way to sign Robin Lopez that would be my preferred option.

  11. I forgot about Jordan Hill, definately someone I would take a look to alongside with Randolph and Milicic.Probably the best FA left is Robin Lopez but I don't think we can put the money to sign him to an offer sheet that Suns don't match, but if we would have not signed Korver and his 5M$ we could have offered 4-5 M$ and the Suns probably would have not matched.
