I think he focused on getting expiring deals for next year but the roster is a non sense. We have too many shooters, no reliable starter at SF or C, nobody can play defense on the perimeter, I am assuming this is a lost season and I'm Ok with that, probably we will be one of the worst 8 teams next year, so will go to the lottery and begin rebuilding. For next year, 1st year of rebuilding, we will have Teague, Lou Williams, Jenkins, Scott and Horford 22M$ on 5 players, no reliable starter at SG, SF and C unless Jenkins proves me wrong, 2 1st rd picks and lots of cap space to sign FA, so before giving my vote I want to see how he makes a team. And for all of you that think that JJ and Marvin can be replaced by Lou Williams and Korver... that makes me really wonder if you have seen any basketball match.
Harden and Ibaka are one of the 2 main targets we should have. There is more to free agency next season than Howard. Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum, Manu Ginobili, Paul Millsap, and Al Jefferson.

You guys are really scaring me, DeShawn should have been out of the league years ago. Brewer is 2" taller, 4 years younger, more athletic, better rebounder, averages more steals, has better offensive game and is even a better defender, more suited to play the SF position and someone that would sign on any team on the league, no team would sign StevensonWould take him for the right price but he and Stevenson are very similar and I don't know if Brewer is really any more of a 3 than Stevenson
-
I really hope DeShawn Stevenson gets traded, he is someone I don't want on this team, bad attitude, more known for his issues outside basketball than for his game, null on offense and overrated defender, his last 4 seasons have been a disaster, I don't want him to play a single minute for Atlanta.

You are so wrong if you think basketball is all about cold numbers. Kaman would give us the needed presence on the middle we don't have and will make the team better giving an alternative on offense at Center, playing effective defense on opposing centers and allowing Horford to move to its natural position, it's a win win for the team. Korver would not be more than another shooter on the bench playing 10 mpg.Kaman is also not very good. 0.024 WS48 this past year, and he's had only one season in his career where he has had better than 0.100 WS48. I would not use the trade exception on him when I could possibly get Kyle Korver and his 0.175 WS48 from this past year, which is a number that is consistent for him along with his career 57% TS% and 55% eFG%. Korver would be a great addition. Chris Kaman would likely be a negative addition.

I don't like this signing, too undersized to play the 2 and not a 1. Mayo or Lee would have been better fits, Mayo in particular can provide the same offense or better with 3" more, I just don't like it.
-
He is becoming an unrestricted FA and would be a great addition for the team as we have a BIG hole there at SF, thoughts?
-
Definately Brewer an James Johnson are the best options out there to improve the SF position, Lee and Mayo for SG.
-
I had some hopes to see Machado or Alex Young or someone who could play SF there to see if we can have some luck, nothing at all...On the ohter hand I like to see there Derrick Character an Brian Butch, let's see what can do Jenkins and Scott
-
Ok, so what about Okafor? I mean they need a PF and we need a Center and is better to have a long term asset for our team specially a center than losing Smith for nothing.
-
I was thinking the same thing, I would even send Zaza for James Johnson, I think he can really be something special and a great fit here and Zaza would be a good backup for Toronto.
-
I agree, we should focus on signing a reliable wing player as we have a big bigh hole there after JJ and Marvin departure.I also agree that the best options are Mayo and Lee, whoever wants to sign by 5 M$, let's sign him, we cannot miss that as we are one of the few teams that can offer a starting spot.I think Mayo could become the better player, however Lee is also a good SG, more size and better defender than Mayo although less ability to create.
-
No way we sign Kirilenko, too much money for not so much production, Green is an option I likeAnother options I would consider at SF position Alonzo Gee, Delfino, Matt Barnes, Brandon Rush,Terrence Williams, Pietrus, Sam Young, CJ Miles, Donte Greene.About the center Robin Lopez would be my preferred target, I think we could sign him cheap, 4M$ a year and would be a true addition to the Center rotation.
-
The trade works, I think is a great trade for both teams.Atlanta gets their so much needed Center. Horford and Nene is a better combo than Smith Horford and let's face it, we are not getting HowardWashington gets the PF they need to pair with Okafor, nice team by the wayWall/MackBeal/CrawfordAriza/VeselySmith/BlatcheOkafor/Seraphin
-
I would trade Smoove for Nene and a 1st rd pick to the Wizards, makes perfect sense for both teams, Atlanta gets the so much needed Center allowing Horford to play PF and Washington gets their needed PF that would make with Okafor a perfect frontcourtWashington John Wall/ Beal/Ariza/Smith/Okafor, really nice teamAtlanta Teague/Jenkins?/FA/Horford/Nene, better frontcourt than Horford and Smith with the same need to fill the gaps at the wing.

True he did not start at Memphis but the truth is that Memphis did have too much scorers (Gay, Randolph, Conley) and needed a defensive specialist as Tony Allen to compliment Conley and Gay, that does not mean he will not start on other NBA team He is not so undersized, is a good scorer, much better than anything we have, could be signed cheap and provide a good ratio quality/cost, I think will be a good compliment to Teague and anyway could play a similar role as Jamal Crawford, we don't have any wing player that could play more than 10-15 min on any NBA team right nowI don't see this as a year where we are actually competing for anything. I think the idea might be to let our assets showcase themselves and build value. I could be wrong, but either way we don't need another 6'4" wing player whether you feel he's starting caliber or not (FYI he didn't start in Memphis).
-
He is a SG, not a PG, a starting caliber SG, Jenkins, Morrow and Stevenson are not, Besides Morrow, Stevenson and Harris are FA next year, they should not be on our long term plans, but Mayo could definately be a player we can use many years here, he is an underrated offensive player. We already have 2 PGs and 2 SGs. We have no need for Mayo at all.
-
He is not demanding a lot of interest so we could sign him cheap, probably 5-6M$ a year not affecting financial flexibility for next year, he is certainly underrated, we could offer him a starting job that Pacers for example would not offer, fills a need as we don't have a starting SG, could replace JJ scoring, could become a good compliment to Teague or Harris and will be a good piece to attract a good FA next year.Next year you could offer a young core of Teague, Mayo, Jenkins, Horford + 2 first round picks, at a cost of only 20M$, that means you have around 40M$ to sign any FA.
-
We are definately worse and we will be out of the playoffs for sure.Devin Harris was crap last year and is always injured, we don't have an NBA starting SG and SF, Morrow and Jenkins are bench players at best, Smith and Horford play the same position and we don't have a legit center.Basically we have 2 PGs and 2 PFs as our best players and some bench players that would not play more than 15-20 mpg on halft the league as Zaza, Morrow and Jenkins. The rest Petro, Farmar, Stevenson, Jordan Williams would not make any roster on the league.I cannot understand how some of you think we will go to the playoffs next year.

Well, the coach will sign for next year when we will suck and our history signing big FA is the worst on the whole NBA... I cannot see why all this optimism. I have to agree on something Horford and Teague are a good young duo but not enough to attract big namesI don't think Ferry is done dealing. A new coach would see what the potential of having financial flexibilty and what they can build going forward. It's not just about next year.
-
Why don't we ask the right thing? Which coach would want to come here with the team as it is? With the current roster Hawks are one of the worst 8 teams, no playoffs next year
-
I forgot completely about William Buford. I think between Alex Young and William Buford we could have a wing player, and a good one, whoever does better on SL could get an roster spot.Machado should get an opportunity at PG and Kevin Jones, Drew Gordon, Henry Sims or JaMychal Green could have a chance at bigs.Drew GordonJaMychal GreenAlex YoungWilliam BufordJordan Taylor

On draftexpress analysis Mike Scott is the most efficient forward ahead of Perry Jones, Moe Harkless, Royce White, Terrence Jones...http://www.draftexpress.com/article/By-the-Numbers-The-2012-Forward-Crop-3991/I´m not saying he is going to be special, but can score with good percentages and can rebound, plus is a solid defender, I think we got good value on 2nd round.

Some players who ar falling and could be available on draft day, as Second round steals, ordered by position Scott Machado, William Buford, Kris Joseph, Drew Gordon, Kyle O'Quinn, any of these list I think has a chance to become a role player on NBA.

Terrence Jones, Terrence Ross, Toney Mitchell or Kendall Marshall
Ferry as GM Poll

My list of preferences would beSG Harden, M. Ellis, T. EvansC Howard, Bynum, Jefferson, Ibaka, PekovicOklahoma cannot match 12 M$ for Harden and Ibaka and both of them deserves the money, there is risk involved on the operation but both would be reliable starters and future stars on the league, so if we make it well we should have at least one of themThe problem I see is that I don't see any SF FA that I would like so that would have to be through the draft or a trade.
