Definitely feel like we’re gonna be a lot better once JC and Dedmon are back. I feel like our defense isn’t this bad in general lol.

So I'm guessing there won't be a Carmelo appreciation thread?

I feel like after this next draft we'll probably have one more season of putting player development over competiting for the playoff spot. from then on I think we're aiming to compete for a playoff spot.

Loved him at Kentucky, injuries just got in the way of him reaching his potential there but he definitely still has upside and an NBA ready body. I hope he does well and gets some PT with us.

I think he and Baze are the type of vets you love to have on a team that's building the way ours is right now.

I definitely think he deserves a shot, especially with those listed. Skill wise he's not too far off.

I'd be happy with it, keeping 3 PG's on the roster would be tough for Trae and Lin is by far the better teammate and mentor for him.

Has anyone seen the crowd/bench reaction on a made 30 footer? It's a little guy's dunk. It has benefits and if you can hit a wide open 30 footer at a 35%+clip then why pass the ball around for 20 seconds? I'm not saying take a lot of them but pulling the D out that far has advantages. He makes them at a decent percentage because they are usually wide open and in rhythm like you're shooting in practice vs. normal 3s that are more contested.
Also nothing diminishes the hearts of the defense quite like a guard hitting a few of those in a game lol

Yeah he’s starting to get comfortable out there. It’s really great to see. Let’s hope he builds on that for the regular season though.

I feel like Karl was also a lot bigger in mass but JC has more finesse and athletic ability. I'm loving the 3 pt shot being added to JC's game, I really feel like he can develop into a star.

like who?
IT could come in and give us the same lack of defense and amount of losses with less than half the felonies lol

There are better serviceable mentor PG options than Dennis. I won’t be mad at having him though. Even if it’s just to sharpen and prepare Trae more.

Ehh, can't get too tied up in summer league. It's basically like watching pick up at a gym. Not a lot of chemistry and a bunch of players just trying to figure it out as they go. Trae does need to get his legs under him and stop overthinking his shots. He looks hesitant to shoot a lot and I'd rather he keep shooting until he's out of the slump than let his confidence in his shot dwindle. The slump is a lot harder to overcome when it's mostly mental.

Given that initial 5-10 year timetable I think we have a solid shot at getting LeBron James Jr. my boys. Who else is excited?! haha

We shot so bad it was hard to watch tonight. I almost feel like Huerter could’ve shot better than the players on the court and that’s WITH his injury. Trae was better, just no one else was.

He'll be an All-Star, but my gut says he's the type of star that'll join up other stars elsewhere and not the type that'll attract them to Atlanta. That may just be my fear speaking here, but I think he'll be the PG we need in Atlanta. The street ball PG days are numbered as long as Schro doesn't wear off on Trae.
Idk he seems like a really loyal type of guy, and players seem to like him. I think if he starts play up to his potential he definitely has the chance to bring other players here. The culture surrounding the team will also dictate that though.

Smart move by Cousins. I’m sure he was getting lowballed on contract offers because of the Achilles injury. He definitely will be able to injury a year of proving himself and being a virtual nba championship lock lol

I’m gonna be patient with Trae, he’s definitely gonna have rough games this year. That NBA adjustment ain’t easy for guards like him. But he made some smart decisions that will make for a good foundation to build on.

LOL I was thinking the other day, imagine how the magic fans feel. They went into the draft liking Trae and Luka, ended up seeing both taken and got a center to add to an already crowded frontcourt with no real leader on offense.
If that were us I know our board would be in a state of depression lol.

Saw the video, definitely great to see him engaged in a way that seems receptive. The more early chemistry Trae and JC build the better.

That’s really the best way to approach summer league with a college star coming in

Trust me, if anyone can revive the life of your hair it'd be the barbers of Atlanta.
The only example I need:

Yeah if anything I'm glad we didn't dump Baze, he's really the best locker room veteran we have. That's just important to have around a franchise that's rebuilding anyways.

Ehh, it’s a double edged sword. Cause hitting long distance 3 the way he does is pretty much equally as energizing to a team as dunking on someone
