And here is the thing: if they don't have a good deal for Schröder already lined up, they now just lost all leverage in trade negotiations about Schröder.

You cannot bring in  Young and keep Schröder. And everyone knows it.

Worked fine with Teague and Schröder though..

Well, let's see.  He can't shoot, he makes a lot of turnovers and plays no defense.  All he is great at is throwing the ball at the backboard.  Dennis already did a good job at that.  And he makes Dennis look big.  Pathetic.

Terrible take on this one boss.

Only question now is . . . what kind of guy is Trae in the late night hours?

    - A Magic City guy

    - A Cheetah guy

    - or a Follies guy?

Thats the real question of the night!

When the NCAA’s points and assists leader is the next Nash, I’m on record as calling this early and loving it. When Donciccio is the next Joe Johnson, a great player but not the next Nash, y’all come in back onboard.

    Big Facts.

If they don’t add Cousins, they will not make the playoffs. Doncic won’t be that kind of difference maker and Dirk ain’t getting younger. Be realistic.

This ^ Dallas is in a tougher conference and Dennis’ game doesn’t even really match Doncic’s.

Wrong.  Even if Trae Young is a good idea, make a deal to draft him later.

Instead, this idiot traded for a conditional pick in a lousy draft.  He was gifted Luka Doncic and made a ridiculous deal.

This is simply very poor management.

Magic were gonna take him at six so I’m guessing we should’ve went for the 5.5 pick?

    No, he really isn't. Source:

Young’s downside is clear after he didn’t even measure six feet without shoes at the combine, he had a combine-low 6’3" wingspan, and he had some poor workouts for lottery teams.

You can literally look at the nba combine measurements on their official site. If your choicing to not believe that then you obviously just want to find reasons to keep being mad.

So what? He was a chucker. He got schooled when he played decent competition in college. And you think he's going to be anything but burnt toast on the NBA level?

Did he really get “schooled” though? Lol he’s not gonna have that high a usage in the nba. This man was getting more possessions than most nba stars.

Young isn't even six feet tall. HE'S NOT EVEN SIX FEET TALL. Combine low 6'3" wingspawn and in COLLEGE he was the worst defensive player I watched. In COLLEGE. He's going to be burnt toast every time down the court on the NBA level.

He’s more than six feet tall, and you need to calm yourself lol.

Seriously. I am done. Forty plus years as a fan and this was the last straw. Trading a generational superstar for a guaranteed bust is too Atlanta sports for me. This is the Falcons Super Bowl and Georgia National title game times ten since this is a mistake we are going to have to live through for every year of Doncic's long career and the very short life of Trae Young's career.

Might wanna wait til he plays before declaring him a generational superstar lol

We've experienced a lot of gut punches as Hawks fan, but this one is one of the worst. I really wanted Doncic and Sacramento handed him to us. Really, really disappointed. That said, Young could blow up and make us all look stupid. Here's to hoping.

How is this a gut punch? Lol they haven’t even played yet. Calm down haha

    Here's the thing.

Teams don't take over as defending champs by copying what the current champion is doing. They create something new to counteract the defending champ.

TRAVIS STOP TRYING TO RECREATE THE WARRIORS. BECOME SOMETHING NEW.

I don’t think he’s trying to recreate the warriors. Folks make the Curry comparisons on their own and pretty much just create a false narrative around the situation.

The thing is that this draft is perfectly set up for the Hawks to make several moves that would culminate in a roster featuring:  Collins, Prince, Bamba, Doncic and Young.

The deals are there to be made.  Drafting Doncic and then lazily trading him for Young and other assets that stand questionable chances of panning out, is a big gaff.

The Hawks should finish tonight with the above mentioned starting roster.  The team would surely suffer through at least one dismal season, but in two years could be the fastest rising team in the league.

It's the draft, there's no guarantee they could have every deal work in their favor so easily. You gotta have patience in these situations. Patience with the front office and patience with the players getting a chance to prove themselves.

ALL of the players stand questionable chances of panning out. I trust that any players we end out with will be put in the best positions they can to develop and succeed. Until they have proven that they won't, I won't be negatively judging the players we take a chance on before they've even played.

I’m pro both..2 of my top 5 I think..I did love Bagley too.

I can see a scenario where Trae shines...isn’t that who quavo from migos wanted ?

Yeah Quavo cosigned Trae, that's what the culture wants though lol Atlanta thrives off big name players, Trae could shine just as much as Doncic here. I'd be excited to see either play for us.

Yes, Trae could be just as good.  But right now, perception is truth.  Right now, trading Doncic for Young, a player widely believed to be more flawed, would damage the trust of Hawks fans.

Regardless of who is kept, the Hawks will lose a lot of games the next two seasons.  The bitterness of losing will be compounded every night, as Luca is featured on ESPN highlights.

It would be a foolish move.

I think you're overestimating the talent gap here. If anything Trae is even more highlight heavy than Luka is right now. Both their styles of play would significantly impact and offense.

Both players are flawed, if Doncic was THAT much better then the Suns and Kings would be getting a lot more fire for not wanting him at this point. He's not LeBron James, I'm not heartbroken over having one offensively incredible player with defensive questions over the other.

Wasn't Mike Bibby the starting PG during that year?

Not sure if Joe Johnson played some minutes at PG or not that year. It's been a good while.

Nah, Bibby came some years after. JJ played the 1 and 2 from what I can remember.
