  1. Woody is our Doc Rivers. Boston fans were always calling for man's head then what happend when he got talent and heart to work with? Give Woody a less-sissyfied PG and a center that's not afaid of contact and watch how good of a coach he'll become.

And yes Dolf I 100% with your assesment on the Hawks offense. But what else do you expect when the PG only want to pop 3s to boost his pay scale next year.

  2. I put most of this on JJ. He's is supposed to the leader here but he seems to want to fit in with the other guys. You think Bron or Kobe would allow this? Joe has to give Bibby a kick the arse for putting up those gay 3 pointers and not taking the ball to the defense. Bibby has these guys wanting to be the old school Suns or Kings instead of the hard-nose team Woody wants. So all you guys that kiss Bibby’s butt for making shots when things are going well should now step up and blast him for undermining Woody’s philosophy.

  3. I would agree with you except for two things. First Solo and Acie I think have played with a lot of effort when they've had the chance but still end up on the bench. Second Woody himself keeps saying he needs to get guys more playing time but he doesn't.

I just saw this in Sekou's column about Woody's practice after the Orlando game:

I think starters know this is an idle threat. Its never happened no matter how poorly they have played. Zaza and other bench guys who play 1 to 10 minutes a night get held to this standard but not the starters.

Acie and Solo have played well when given the minutes but I think Woody may be a big practice guy (a Larry Brown type). I f Woody sees a guy hustling during practice then he's probably more willing to play him.

But I don't know if this applies to Mario West. From what I've heard Mario always going hard at practice. Then again Mario just may not be NBA material.

  4. We’ve all been killing Woody for a while now about this. But here's another way to digest it. There was a point last year when Zaza was playing like crap and Woody didn’t hesitate to sit him. I think he and Z even exchange words over this. This year Z is getting tons of PT. Has his offensive game improved that much? No. It’s because he’s giving more effort on the floor. Z’s defense and rebounding is much better these days. And if he’s giving more effort on game day then he’s probably doing the same during practice. This may explain why your favorite bench guy isn’t getting much PT. We see a DNP and think “Why is this guy not getting minutes?” Do we really know that it’s not all on the player? I would love to see more of Acie, Morris, and Solo but I'm starting to think that these guys may not be giving Woody much reason to do so.

  5. Just popped in my inbox

  6. Actually Diesel and I don't argue even half as much as we used to. he is just having trouble letting childress go.

We all have to move on. Listen to the piece Childress did on 790 last year. He talked about how he thought he was more than a bench player. He also made several references to having more leverage as a player. Did he sound like a guy that was looking forward to being a Hawk? Josh got his wish so to suggest that his leaving was the result of poor management is not fair to the Hawks. He’s happy and Hawks are winning so enough said.

  7. NJ Nets.

I know it’s way too early to be talking playoffs but....

It just seems that the Nets have the Hawks number. Vince Carter has always been a Hawks-Killer. Now add in Harris and this team is a very bad matchup for the Hawks. Say the Hawks make the playoffs as a 4 seed or better. There would be good chance the Nets would be the 1st or 2nd round opponent. Call me crazy but I think the Hawks would have a slightly better chance playing opposite the Celtics or Magic early.

  8. This eight-man rotation is here to stay. I hate it but the reality is that Woody’s #1 concern is keeping his job. I wish we had a coach that had the patience and vision look ahead but sadly we don’t. So no more bumping for Acie for now I realize that it’s a huge waste of time. All you Solo and Acie fans can let it go; No way in hell Woody will change with so much volatility among NBA coaches.
