  1. I agree to some degree. Bibby really sould make an opening pass from time to time. However he also should run the offense more often, sometimes he event doesn't touch the ball which is not his fault.

Only one pick'n'roll, I don't know whom to blame for it.

Johson didn't get one good screen to free himself from Artest.

On the other hand he didn't give away the ball when doubled after pick and eventually turned it over.

Fast break when Evans got blocked was dissapointing. Mo is a solid dunker, he should earn 2+1, instead and he decided to make straight shot off the glass.

Horford was impressive, a real RoY which he was IMO. After 2 early fouls he came back stronger, did solid job defensively (you can't do much better than that against Yao) and played terrific offense showing nice touch around the rim. He wanted the ball, but he didn't get it in 4th quarter.

Horford was solid. He was hitting that mid-range jumper all night.

  2. Smith just does not play within the flow of the game. He tries to create his own shot OUTSIDE. That is insane. Here is where Mo and Flip, along with others, need to sit him down and tell him to grow up.

But is it not Bibby's job to get him into a good shot? And a good shot for Josh is a dunk or layup off of a pass.

  3. Marvin is probably the most consistent player in this team knowing his role and doing exactly what he's supposed to.

I respect Marvin for knowing who he is. Smoove on the other hand has some serious "me" issues. Dude you're not that good! Block shots, get rebounds, and live with put-backs. Hawks don't need you to be MJ all they need is the Pistons version of Ben Wallace.

  4. The Hawks are:

    1. 25-43 since Nov. 2006 in games where Smith takes 15+ shots.

    2. 12-19 since Nov. 2007 in games where Smith takes 15+ shots.

    3. 11-19 all-time in games where Smith takes 4+ 3 pt. shots.

    Winning Percentages?

    37%, 39%, 37%

Doesn't take a math whiz to figure out it doesn't work. Yes, he'll have games where he can't miss. But then he'll have two more where he can't hit anything.

Yet people here continue to bump for the guy. Josh has no business shooting jumpers. Woody should start sitting his but after a lucky make because that's the very thing that fuels this madness. And I don't know why Josh refuse to pass to a guard in transition. He has to be one of the worst ball handlers and passer in transition in Hawks history.

  5. 1) When we play Boston on Wednesday night, show the type of emotion in that game, that you did during our playoff run. Do that "He-man . . . I have the power" double fist pump when the crowd gets hype over a great play, forcing Boston to call timeout.

    2) Put the "Salim Rules" on Flip. If he commits 2 turnovers before he makes 2 shots, sit him down. If he hits 2 of his first 3 shots, give him extended minutes. But keep the green light for him to shoot . . ON. Do not try to limit him to playing a PG role, when his role is to be an instant offense type player.

    3) Tell Smoove to only shoot 3 pointers, when he's at the top of the 3-point arc. Otherwise, take it to the basket or look to pass to an open man.

    4) Tell Zaza to stop missing easy shots on the inside, just so he can pad his rebounding numbers.

    5) Tell Solo to quit fouling so much. He's averaging 7.4 fouls per 48 minutes. Amongst the guys that play at least 10 minutes per game, that's 12th most in the league.

Other than that, you're doing a great job Woody. Keep it up!!

I wish Woody was more demonstrative after no calls. Sometime it's good to take a "T" early to let then refs know what's up. Go all ABM on those fools Woody.

  6. Simple solution. Don't pass the ball to Josh when he's behind the arch.

If he ain't got the ball, he can't shoot. He wants the ball. If he knows that, in order

to get the ball, he must move inside the arch, he will get inside.

There will be times when he will bring the ball up himself and shoot the three. Can't

stop that, but the rest of the stuff CAN be controlled, whether HE thinks it's possible

    or not.

Yet you see Joe continue to pass him the ball when he's 'behind the arch'. Joe, as acting captain, has to know that Josh should get the ball at the 3-pt line.

  7. I agree that Bibby shooting 3s is part of his game and it spreads the floor. Rhino added that part about Bibby after I made my initial response.

I'll admit to being a little unreasonable with Bibby's game. I seriously doubt if asked to penetrate more that he could do it. At this stage of his career he's probably best served being a jump shooter but Woody could give Acie more meaningful minutes to offset Bibby's lack of aggressiveness.

  8. Four from me:

    1. Send Josh to the locker room the next time he jacks an ill-advised 3.
    2. Get Josh to pass the ball to a guard while in transition.
    3. Get one Mr. Ronald "Flip" Murray to play team ball. I can't count how many times (while at PG) he's taken the ball down court and hoisted up a shot without anyone else touching the ball.
    4. Get Mike Bibby to realize that he's not paid to pop cute little 3-pt shots all night. He must understand that it’s his job as PG to get players (other than JJ) easier shots by penetrating the defense.

  9. Now is OUR time. No more waiting for a guy to develop. We have the players to compete RIGHT NOW. Bibby has been great for us NOW. Acie will be nice for the future but Bibby gives us the best chance to win right now. I don't know any other ways to say this. Woody would be run out of town on a rail if he made this move. Bibby is the best PG we've had in a decade and you move him to the bench for Acie? You and maybe one or two other posters on this board may be the only people on board with an idea like that. BTW, I remember you posting last night on the Chat that "Bibby sucks" while he was on his way to 20pts and 10assts. Dude, I don't know if you hate Bibby or just love Acie that much but you gotta face reality here.

    :brick wall:

the "Bibby sucks" thing was a joke. Bibby is OK. I only wish he was a better defender and focused more on his inside game.

  10. You must not have been following the Hawks very long but we've been "playing for the future" for the past 10 years. I'm sick of it. This is the best start we've had since 97 and you now want to start an unproven PG over Bibby who's been playing at an extremely high level this season? Kill that noise man..

I see your point. But man I would really hate to win this year only to take a step or two back next year. You think these fans gonna give Woody a chance in hell next season if the Hawks were to lose Bibby in the offseaon? But like many have already said, we can play this season out and let whatever happens happen.

  11. So you are saying we are a better team without Bibby? Would we have made the playoffs last year had we not gotten him? You just aren't making much sense. Bibby has his faults but he is the best pg we have had sense Mookie and that is not stretching it.

Right now Bibby is the best PG on this team. But I don't care about right now. I'm looking foward to the years to come. It's Acie's time to shine. By default he's a better defender and he's never been shy about driving the ball. Plus the Hawks have one of the best PGs in NBA history on the coaching staff to school him. I have little respect for Bibby's game. Yeah the 3's are cute but....

  12. Bibby is fool's gold? Really? Dude, the guy has played at this level since he came in the league. Acie is cool but we have to be realistic here. Bibby is playing great basketball right now and only a complete idiot would start Acie over him. BTW, what the heck has Acie accomplished to suggest that HE isn't fool's gold? He's been inconsistent at best, with some of his best games coming when the game was already decided. That all can change, but for right now this thread just seems ill-timed.

how far will you make it with a "PG" that refuses to drive the ball. Sure he knocks down threes. That's cute when there dropping but what happens when the shot no longer falls. Will he take it to the hole? Give me a PG that drives and get his teammates easy shots anyday. OK...Acie may not be that now but giving him more playing time will only make him better.

I forget to mention that Bibby is a horrible defender.

So yes...Bibby=fools gold. He'll get you to the playoffs but he damn sure will not do much once he gets there. Don't belive me...check his stats from last years playoff run.

  13. This has to be the craziest thing I have ever read.

I think you're missing the point or just giving a response out of emotion. Four Questions?

Will Bibby resign with the Hawks?

Do you see the hawks trading or paying for a veteran PG?

Have you seen enough from Acie to suggest that he deserves a shot?

Are the hawks good enough as is to win it all?

I'm not saying bench Bibby due to a lack of production. I'm mearly saying that Woody should prepare this team for the future. Yes that may mean more losses this year, but take it and enjoy all the good to come in the future.
