  1. Give me T.J. Warren or give me...well, not death, but anyway...from Chad Ford's blog. He's everything we need.
  2. Yeah, I'd probably go with Boss though I gotta say Bibby was HUGE in this series. His regular season was entirely forgettable, but he stepped up on the court and as a leader throughout the series.
  3. Woody is now the 6th longest tenured coach in the NBA behind Jerry Sloan, Greg Popovich, Mike Dunleavy, Doc Rivers and Lawrence Frank.
  4. My problem is a philosophical one. The Hawks starters played like complete and total *ss in the third quarter of the Lakers game and let it get out of hand. Maybe the Lakers let their guard down and that's why Teague had such success, but whatever the reason for it was, Teague came in and provided a spark and helped Atlanta get back in the game some what. That EARNED him playing time against Portland. Maybe not a lot of playing time, but he definitely earned a few minutes. He damn sure earned more than five freaking minutes against the Kings. That is my biggest problem with Woody. He has always had a young roster in Atlanta and the concept of rewarding a young player for doing well and punishing a young player for doing wrong things is lost on him. What it has done has allowed guys to develop bad habits (cough cough Josh cough cough). Teague has a long way to go to be a starter in this league, but his ceiling is so much higher than Bibby's (at this stage of Bibby's career) it's not even funny. Woody always talked about Acie Law not earning his playing time, but Teague EARNED some burn against the Lakers and Woody won't give it to him. Teague is a tremendous talent. He needs to be playing every night. The only way rookies are going to get over making rookie mistakes is to play through them and learn as they go on the court. I really believe JT-0 can be our point of the future, but Woody needs to be working him into games. DNP-CD's are flat out unacceptable, PERIOD.
  5. Where's Teague? Is he hurt?
  6. This thread is absurd. Marvin Williams, prior to the Crawford trade, was the only player on this team besides Joe who wasn't one dimensional on offense. He's got a good mid range jumper and his 3 point improvement has been well noted on here and he's a very good on the ball defender, defending the hardest position on the floor to defend. The sheer and utter stupidity of people who criticize Marvin for not being assertive enough on the offensive end amazes me. Like Dolfan pointed out, when has the coaching staff asked or expected Marvin to be anything other than the fourth option on the floor? Name me one player in the history of basketball who has taken things into their own hands, completely disregarding the system his team runs, and has been successful. Joe has missed two games the last two seasons (that mattered, the last game of the '09 season doesn't count). Marvin scored 23 and 29 points in those two games and had 14 and 20 free throw attempts in those two games. That sounds pretty assertive to me. So what does that say? It says that it's the coaching staff's fault for not trying to take advantage of what its players do well and just running the Iso Joe into the ground. This isn't a new revelation. the only legit point Diesel almost made was this: the only reason for concern is his prevalent injury history. If you think he's injury prone, then you have to be cautious. Otherwise, not signing him to a long term deal is a mistake, point blank period.
  7. Josh Smith is our basketball Andruw Jones. All world ability in certain aspects, too stubborn to do what it takes to become an all around player. A guy we fear trading because we don't want to see him blow up, but we're probably destined to see him end up being a relative disappointment in comparison to his ability.
  8. And another thing....The Hawks have nearly reached their peak with the current formation of the roster. Perhaps the Hawks could win north of 50 games next year, but unless they do something drastic (which would be entirely Sund's doing) the Hawks are still going to be a distant fourth place team in the Eastern conference to Cleveland, Boston and Orlando. Our best player plays his *ss off undoubtedly but is still best suited to the primary supporting piece for a contender, not a go to player. Our second best player has undeniable athleticism, but is too hot headed to play to the best of his abilities. Our third best player is a one dimensional aging point guard. Our other two players are a gifted Forward with a debatable ceiling, but probably will never be a star and a Power Forward playing center who didn't appear to get any better in his second year. the bench is ok, but it's not going to offset the dysfunction of the starting lineup so the Hawks are what they are. If being a middle of the road Eastern conference team that's barely among the better half of teams in the leagues, then yes, Billy Knight did a fantastic job. For those of us who hoped this franchise might one day amount to something, well Billy Knight was crap. Maybe less so than those before him, but two times zero equals zero.
  9. Exactly. Andersen might be the most deficient big we have in terms of rebounding defense, but he's got a more developed post and mid range game offensively than anyone on our current roster.
  10. Because they are run by awful general managers just like the Hawks were with Billy Knight.
  11. Billy Knight thought that Childress was a better pick than Luol Deng and Andre Iguodala. Billy Knight thought Chris Paul was too small and picked Marvin, who isn't a bad player or a bust, when the Hawks most glaring needs were at Center and Point Guard. Picking Marvin wasn't a reach because everyone had him in the top two, but when you need a point guard and there is a good one there YOU TAKE HIM. Billy Knight passed on Brandon Roy to draft Shelden Williams a player that was a fringe lottery pick on just about everybody else's draft board. Billy Knight panicked and gave a four year contract to an injury prone career back-up named Craig Claxton. Billy Knight got lucky that his terrible drafting landed him back in the lottery and he ended up in the top three and drafted the clear cut third best player in the draft in Horford. His drafting decisions were from flawed in logic to just terrible decision making. His free agent signings, outside of Joe, were either average or terrible. Billy Knight did a piss poor job as GM of the Hawks. Yes, he did get things right. When you're given so many opportunities to draft in the lottery you're bound to get it right eventually...unless you are the Clippers. Whoop de doo, we aren't the Clippers.
  12. Yes, thank you Billy Knight for spending three top five picks on a career sixth man, a solid but not spectacular starter instead of a future hall of famer and a guy who will be the LA Sparks' biggest cheerleader once his contract is up. If Billy Knight had done anything right prior to drafting Horford this franchise would be serious contenders in the East, not trying to piece together a contender thanks to a GM who has half an idea of what he's doing.
  13. no details or anything, just posted on his twitter page. Hope he's right. Update Hawks, Pachulia agree to terms
