  9. ray allen THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics' new Big Three will stay together to try for a second NBA title. Ray Allen confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday night that he has agreed to a US$20-million, two-year contract to return to Boston. With Kevin Garnett under contract, Paul Pierce on the verge of a new four-year deal and coach Doc Rivers also agreeing to return, the Celtics can keep together the core of their 2008 NBA championship team for at least two more years. Allen's agent, Lon Babby, told the AP that the second year of the deal is a player option. NBA teams are not allowed to sign free agents until Thursday. Allen, who turns 35 this month, averaged 16.3 points last season as the Celtics reached the NBA finals for the second time in three years. After Boston lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games, Allen said, "It's obvious I don't want to be anywhere else." Allen joined the Celtics in the summer of 2007, joining with Pierce to lure Garnett to Boston to form a new Big Three that won an NBA title in its first season together. The next year, with Garnett injured, the Celtics lost in the Eastern Conference semifinals. With the team struggling at the all-star break this year, general manager Danny Ainge considered trading Allen and trying to make the team younger by rebuilding around point guard Rajon Rondo. Instead, Ainge kept the core together and the team rewarded him by returning to the finals. Allen was inconsistent against the Lakers, hitting an NBA finals-record eight three-pointers in Game 2, then going 0-for-16 from three-point range over the next three games. But Rivers never wavered in his support, praising Allen's defence and also the way he forces opponents to cover him wherever he is on the floor, opening up space for his teammates. The Celtics said he was their top priority in the off-season. But shortly after the finals ended, Pierce opted out of the final year of his contract, and Rivers discussed taking a sabbatical so he could spend more time with his family. When they both decided to return -- Pierce agreed last week to a four-year deal worth a reported $61 million -- all that was left was for Allen to re-sign. In a 14-year career for Milwaukee, Seattle and Boston, Allen is second all-time in three-pointers and fifth among active players with 20,965 points.

  14. im with ya they dont scare me either. its just that everyone would wanna play for them and would take a pay cut just to play with miami peolpe like ray allen, shaq, raefer alston, etc thats the scary part having talented peolpe taking paycuts and make the team way better
  15. thnx ur rite i never thought about it that way and we already have shooters on our team we need to improve our defense
  16. i say we should get both because shaq is gonna need the rest, dont want him injured before the playoffs mike miller opens up the paint for us cuz he has a good midrange shot and just fits with our team and shaq we need him only for two teams really (ORLAND,LAKERS,) thats really it miller helps all year round
  17. I want to hear from you about the C we should target if it's a MLE signed player. We are not talking about a better C we could get from bigger deal. Why ? Because unlike Shaq, Brad Miller has a good mid-range game and shot, he can even create and pass from there, and all this game can easily allow Josh to stay on the floor with Al at PF, and still be near the basket as Larry Drew wants. Shaq, and lots of other C don't allow that at all. Brad Miller is not young too, but he knows the game, and even in defense, he's boxing out a lot, and would help Al and Josh to get rebound, and since Josh was often not good at this work, better get a C that can do that job. We can even imagine getting both if we can sign one, and get the other by a sign-&-trade and send Zaza or Marvin or Childress (by double sign-&-trade) as main piece. I don't see it as necessary, but maybe some people will think that interesting, so I add this option. Think about all the points because Shaq for example can be a cool thing in ATL and bring some money by selling more tickets, something Miller won't, or indirectly if him and maybe other new guys bring enough to see that the team is clearly on the next level. I start and my choice is Brad Miller, mainly for the game which seems to fit ATL and add new possibilities, the fact that he has no problem coming from the bench. I also have some doubts about getting Haywood with the MLE, or he could cost too much by sign-&-trade, without bringing what Miller can.
  18. yeaaa i want shaq ur rite he brings fans, leadership, big body, etc.
  19. i was wondering do yall think we should go after jermaine oneal hes younger 7 footer can shoot but is he a good defender or a big body we need!!!
