I hate to sound pessimistic but as more time elapses from draft night. I keep thinking why we didn't draft a point gaurd? It is argubaly the most important position on the floor. This year there were at least two perennial all star caliber point gaurds in the form of Chris Paul and Derron Williams. Instead we got another small forward, who will take two to three years to develop. This off season, despite the owenership debacle, we have done nothing to address our critical needs. How come the Suns offense slumped so poorly last year when Nash was out? Will Joe be a point gaurd of Paul or Williams caliber? Look at Billy Knights history, he has never had a winning team since he has been GM in the league? It just makes me think did we do the right thing,or are we just lost at see with no clear direction or plan?

I am not a Hendu fan but (forget contracts) talent wise I think Hendu is better than Dickau

I still remember when you wanted Patterson from Settle and were willing to trade half our team for him.

Diaw has been playing the point for his entire carrier in France. I think he knows how to play the point. He needs a little time to get used to the US Game but it should not take too long. There is just no doubt in my mind he should play the point. He should be way better than Dickau. Dickau was unimpressive at best last year.

Right on Point Theo intimidates other teams. They think twice maybe three times before driving the lane. He had a slow start last year ( it was the first time he played in TWO YEARS). I think that tainted our impression of him, but his impact was seen in the later half of the year. We need to complement Theo with a shooter (not scorer) who plays good D at SF. This SF would in theory relieve the scoring burden off SAR and JT w/o hogging the ball i.e Big Dog and play decent perimeter D to keep his man in check A healty Demarr comes to mind.

Just because people say he is a poor man's pippen, there is no reason to assume Daiw is a SF. Daiw is a tall PG who will play sf on occassion(We can not have a non scoring and poor shooting SF and expect to win). Jt will assume his SG roll. This will turn down the TO and increase scoring. Plus our D improves because you have a tall PG to complement JT. If this is our team look for this rotation: PG Daiw/ dickau SG JT/ ? Demarr SF SAR/ CC/ Hansen Center Theo/ Mohammed PF Hendu/ ?

At a meeting about Hypertension and its management in NY, I ran into Jason Collins of the NJ NETS. I asked him in front of every one at the confrence, " What do you think about the Hawks?" The [censored] just smirked and said, " The Atlanta Hawks?" He then slowly replied they are a good team having a bad year. I like the squad we have. We have the talent. We can beat good teams look at our record v.s. winning clubs. Our problem is we fail to get up for lesser teams i.e chicago, memphis. This is a sign of immaturity. All teams go throught it. We are starting to come together.Just look at the little things On offense look at the ball movement its starting to look like winning basketball. Our D is stepping up we are rotating covering for each other. Our turnovers are decreasing as the players get to know each other better. [censored] even our fast breaks look much much better. Unfortunetly it took the whole year but the team is coming together. I just hope Babecock dosent do something stupid this offseaseon. Its nieve for us to think we can just put together five guys and expect them to go to the playoffs on top of that switch coachs on them in the middle of the year. The guys now understand there rolls we need to give this group another year at least.

Hawks have several options 1. Keep this team intact and a. Hope team starts to win b. Keep losing and try to get Lebron in the Draft either via luck and get 1st round pick or trade shareef, big dogg, theo to a team with the first round pick(mike vick like) 2. Trade now A. Shareef with a combination of either henderson or nazer to Clippers for elton Brand B. and Trade Big dogg with a combination of either henderson or nazeer to Knicks for latrell sprewell I think plan one will not work but it would be nice to have lebron. I think plan 2 is solid ny gets a scorer and a big man we get latrall a guy who scores and more importantly plays D same thing with shareef to clippers we get Elton who scores a little less but plays much better D than Sharreef but I dont know if Clippers whould do it. With a front line of Brand,Ratliff, Sprewell. that is impressive
