  1. com' on squawkers, joe's just in a little funk rite now. He'll bounce back. Besides they asked him at the all star game " how is the elbow?". He said" fine, but not 100%". and on top of that he's been dealing with an calf injury, so joe's just banged up from what you just saw in the highlight reel.

  2. So far I've only had time to watch the 1st quarter of the Blazers game and outside of that amazing 12 seconds from Teague we looked pretty bad, at least offensively, but there was a series of plays that really bothered me. First when we were on offense Josh had the ball and had Kirk standing next to him asking for the ball and Josh completely ignored him and then turned the ball over attempting a stupid pass. Then on defense immediately after Kirk gets knocked down trying to take a charge and gets called for the foul but he falls next to Josh and from what I can tell Josh didn't even try and help him up. Kirk went out of the game at that point with 2 fouls so I haven't seen them back on the court again together yet in that game.

So the question is did anyone else notice this (sorry if it's been discussed but I've been away from the computer this weekend) and do you guys think there is a problem between the two of them?

Oh and damn I can't wait to see Jamal playing for someone else next year!

Man i thought i was the only one who saw this! What josh was doing? i dont know, but you saw how he turned the ball over that same play with that boneheaded pass. "Nique" said he didnt know why josh was bring up the ball and not the PG's on the fastbreaks. Josh did alot of things in that game that would have any other player on the bench, but you know LD won't do it, Why? because he and josh was close when woody was here. Now that LD is the head coach, he thinks he can do what ever he wants. This is really starting to get old.How much longer do we have to put up with this? P.S Josh got a tech. for bitchin about a call, sad thing is that i heard him in my living room.

  4. We haven't had more than four losses in a row all season! True we do have split personalities from night to night but our overall season has been consistent. We have a tough and defensive team (Horford, Smoove, Marvin, Joe, Teague, Kirk, Damien, Powell, Thomas, Hilton). Collin's is a big and smart defender. Jamal is hell for a defender when he is on his game and again is a threat on Defense because of his length. Good/Great playoff teams are the teams that are tough, can grind it out and won't back down. Although it may seem different from night to night our offense isn't stagnant. We have just been settling for wide open jump shots and missing. We have 3 capable All Stars / Captains. Josh showed more of his willingness to play smart tonight.

I've said this a while back but we can be a superb fast break team on offense and defense. We have plenty capable scorers and athletes that can get out on the break. Our bigs Horford, Smoove and Marvin can bring it up the court although that may not always be advised. We got guys that can run down and stop fast breaks on the defensive end like Smoove, Teague and Horford. Marvin, Damien Wilkins and company are pretty good one on one defenders. Our main thing is defining our identity and playing hard and with energy every night.

We as Hawks fans know that making the playoffs is an easy reality with our core but the big test is what we do in the playoffs. We have the ingredients to surprise a lot of people by being low on the radar (maybe Joe will show up there since he hasn't really showed up this whole regular season). Our goal now is to go into the playoffs with a good mindset and momentum. We have not showed that we can cruise into the playoffs and turn it on then but Don't Panic. It's like the Hawks against the world right now at Home and Away and we have to have that mentality and make it work for us. There is an adjustment period especially being so unsupported at Home but we got the Grits and the ingredients to make something happen!!

Great thread. every other fans speaks highly about thier team why can't we?

  5. Effort was their during the 9-0 run in 4th qrt but just wasnt enough against a bigger and better team defensive and offensive, I know everybody is going into 1 and done mode all ready. We played two title contenders in west lost both and one east team(NYK)that was making every shot in the 4th qrt plus our turnovers. Hawks need to worry about how yu do against the magics minus hawk killers(vince, gortat, pietrus, barnes, and lewis),heat(overrated) can beat them in my opinion, boston(most troubled one to me minus hawk killer nate and one less big body in perkins),and chicago(hawks own them won 6 in row against them i think already beat them once lets see how we do on road against them.rest of month,if we go 3-1 against those teams this month i wouldnt be suprise cause i know hawks can play with all these teams, boston most troubled one, Wait till we play them before yu assume one and done, I have faith in hawks all the way till the fat lady starts to sing. Go Hawks!! Just My opinion

Thats what iam talking about. The fat lady hasnt sung, i live my life like sports- I never give up until the game is done. If we go down, go down fighting..............FLY OR GET THE HELL ON!- HAWKZ 4 LIFE

  6. :beathorse:

I knew we should not have traded him

    I cannot stand this team

And?............i keep hearing everyone talking about his scoring, but what about his defense? Thats the real question.Besides how iam i to question PROFESSIONAL scouts and coaches.? Like as if anyone of us worked in the NBA

  7. Lights, Camera, and REation! Let's BOUNCE BACK . They had a day off, I see the hawks coming out with great energy on both sides of the ball. We match up well with the lakers, so it should be a win. GO HAWKZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!:clapping: " LETS GO DEFENSE"!

  8. Would you rather him go 5-20 and keep shooting when hes off?

Joe knows when he is on and when he is he puts up big numbers. Plus he shouldn't have to try so damn hard to get in the lane and make a floater while his team just stands there..

Their are other players on this team who can put up Joe's numbers like Josh, Al and Jamal. But when something goes wrong who do we blame? Joe Johnson

Its not Joe's fault he got that contract. If you were in that position would you have told them no i dont want max money?

And Joe isnt the only big contract on this team. Josh and Al have some long and decently hefty contracts for themselves.

Joe Johnson is a great player that gets way to much blame then he should. We all know he isnt Lebron or Kobe or Durant. But he is the best player on our team.

You guys talked about Bibby getting us to where we are today as far as playoffs go. If you look further back it was Joe who got us here and almost shocked the world against Boston.

I think if the Hawks trade Joe we would be a 8 or 7th seed team. Too good for a draft pick. Probably to many big contracts for a big free agent knowing our management.

Thats just my opinion. Now please dont kill with me with negative reputation.

Your so right on this one. Joe playes hard on offense AND defense, and all the other four on the floor with him just stand around.

  9. What part of "melting pot" do ya'll not understand? Atlanta is just that. You can walk the streets of Atlanta and ask where their from and 9/10 chance their going to say " not from Atlanta. Its not just hawks games, it happens at falcons games as well. And add in the fact that atlanta has a bunch of " banwagon fans", very few die hard fans. So don't blame ASG for the fans.

  10. If we don't stop the pick and roll( the thunder are very good at this) then its going to be a long nite. This is what i want to see out of captain kirk, to see if he can help this team against pick and roll. Because teams have killed us in the past when they use it. Even with KD35 playing and the " stat-filler" not, i see us winning this game. PS...I dont care how many points we win by, a win is a win! GO HAWKZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Now com'on my fellow squawkers, we all know why bibby said what he said...........He feels bad. Why you ask? because he's seeing how much better of a team we've became since the trade, need i say more.?.............Now on to the real matter at hand. Things just got a little more harder for the hawks. With this move the heat gets a PG, but not just any PG our former PG for three and a half seasons. And if you don't think he won't tell them our tendencies, think agian. It's gloves off now, bibby sees ring. And i don't blame him cause bibby deserve one................................................BUT NOT THREW US HE WON'T. GO HAWKZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Everyone is fogetting that it's the second of a back to back in DENVER, so the hawks really need to grind it out and don't get into a up and down game with this team.I see zaza, powell getting good min. And i also see collins startin to help out with NENE on D

  13. The real Zaza is most likely the one you have seen on the regular do nothing this year. He has had 2 to 3 good games all year and has been in the regular rotation for the most part because of our lack on depth up front. He has really been a sad player for the last 2 years. He complains a lot for someone that does not produce also. I don't like Zaza's attitude or play. Hopefully he can get traded this offseason. I would much rather be using that almost $5 million next year on Dalembert, Tyson Chandler, or some other above average defensive minded C.

Keep in mind he was our starting center 3 yrs a go. And out of all of those palyers you named NONE of them are known as a great OFF. rebounder. ZAZA is. And finding a good OFF. rebounder is rare. Kevin love leads the NBA in OFF.rebounding with 4.7 in 36 MIN, ZAZA had 6 in 20 MIN.

  14. 20 MIN, 12 REB-6 OFF REB, 1 BLK and a whole lot of HUSTLE. Thats the real zaza i know. He was playing like the old " p-diddy" zaza. His offensive rebounding and his hustle is what makes him an asset to the team. GOOD JOB ZAZA ! , KEEP IT UP.

  15. This is a big game for us. Not only is it on ESPN, but it's a good way to measure us as a playoff team going aginst another playoff team. If we bring the same energy on D like we did in Golden state ,then i see no reason why we can't win. GO HAWKZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. "I felt that we really made an effort to contest and challenge every shot. It's a little frustrating for me, because I wish that we played like this all the time. I hope there's no looking back now. We saw how we can play. Now we have to be able to keep it up."

-- Al Horford on the Hawks' defensive performance. "I'm not concerned about whether he makes or misses shots. . . . The biggest threat [from] him is when he utilizes his speed and his quickness, and when he harasses people defensively. That's two straight games where I've thought he's done a really good job with his energy."

    -- Larry Drew on Teague.

    By Geoff Lepper, for NBA.com

FINALLY, THE -HAWKS -HAS COMEBACK -TO THEIR OLD SELFS!!!!!!!!!( in the rocks vocie) Where has this team been? don't know or care. Iam just glad we're playing like the REAL atlanta hawks. look i know i sound like a broken record, but the facts are the facts. The hawks make up with their lack of size with being HIGHLY ACTIVE AND SCRAPPY ON THE DEFENSIVE END. Keep it up hawks and i see no reason why we can't make it pass the second round. GOOD WIN,BETTER EFFORT!
