  1. With a pool of over 400 NBA players to look at, THIS is all we come up with??? Why not try to find a young player who is not getting any playing time and see what they can do? Danny Ferry is a joke and has no vision or imagination. No trades at last years deadline, no trades over the summer and then this joke at the deadline this season? This upcoming draft is not that strong outside the top 5 players, so don't expect much help from the draft. I am done with the Hawks, they are a disaster!!!
  2. This season ended when Horford went down, so I am not saying we need to make a deal to salvage this season. Players like Turner (25yr) and Osik (27yr) are in their prime and would give us HOPE for the next few years when matched with Horford (27yr) and Milsap (28yr). Right now I see NO HOPE. With where we will most likely be drafting this season, we will be looking at adding a player that is years away from being a major contributor like Turner would be, see last years draft. The Hawks are so irrelevant right now.
  3. Our team is in a tailspin, our roster is depleted and worst of all our team is irrelevant with the Atlanta fan base! So do something about it! Teams are trying to get rid of quality pieces and we seem to be mentioned as possible trade partners for all trades yet nothing seems to happen. Take a chance, trade our draft picks if needed. Who wants to wait on some 18 or 19 year old kid to develop overseas? At this pace, we must be waiting on Lebron to retire before we make any meaningful trades. Evan Turner and Omar Asik are quality pieces, just to mention a couple. Add them to Horford & Milsap and let's see what happens. Maybe someone would actually watch a Hawks game then!
  4. We are really thin at the 2/3 spot, even with Carroll. I think Jenkins is better suited to provide offense off the bench. We need another starter to compliment Korver. Any ideas? Would probably have to acquire via trade. What about Austin Rivers, a lot of guards in Nola.
  5. We apparently discussed trading Josh to Philly for Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes earlier this year. I would look at that again in a sign and trade.PG- Jeff Teague, Shane LarkinSG- Evan Turner, Lou Williams, John JenkinsC- Spencer Hawes, ZaZa, Jeff WitheyPF- Al Horford, Dejuan Blair, Mike ScottSF- Kyle Korver, Corey BrewerDraft Larkin and Withey. Larkin is a great athlete and clutch shooter. Whithey provides def help with his shot blocking skills.
  6. Josh Smith is our most tradeable piece other than Horford and we definitely want to keep Al. Looking around the league at players with comparable salaries, we could get a nice piece or two in return. Center: Omeka Okafor is a defensive rebounding center that would allow Al to move the PF. His salary is perfect match for Josh. Forward: David Lee of NY is a better rebounder and scorer than Josh. A sign and trade for Lee is possible. He is former teammate of Al. Guard: Monta Ellis is a big time scorer. His salary is a match with Josh. He most likely will be moved because of the emergence of Curry. He is injury prone however. I still believe Teague can play the point also.
  7. While I think Josh is a good player, he has terrible fundamentals. He does not play defense when his man does not have the ball. He does not block out. He could lead the league in rebounding if he played harder with better fundamentals, but he wants to rely on his athleticism alone. He is a great shot blocker but not a great overall defender. He is our best bargaining piece in the off season. I would move him in a package for either Bosh or M. Ellis.
  8. Toney Douglas is the perfect compliment to J.J. Douglas handles the ball well enough, can spot up for 3, he can finish on the break and would be a big upgrade on the defensive end. He had a great season in the ACC with not much help.
  9. While I think Bibby has helped the Hawks since coming to Atl, it is obvious that he cannot guard at a high enough level. I think we need to look in other directions for our future PG. All of these guys are potential restricted free agents this summer; Nate Robinson, Jarret Jack, & Ray Felton. We need to be more athletic and either one of these guys would fit.
  10. Portland has alot of talent on their roster that we could deal for. I would love to get Aldrige but we would have to give up a ton to get him. Other options would include Channing Frye who put up good numbers in limited playing time. With Oden coming back his time will be even more limited. They also have two shooters, Martell Webster and James Jones that I like. They also have Jack who is an Atlanta favorite and a very good leader.
  11. I just wanted to actually see what could have been on paper one last time: PG: Chris Paul SG: Brandon Roy C: Al Horford PF: Josh Smith SF: Joe Johnson 6th: Josh Childress
  12. We don't need a defensiver SF. We need a SF that can shoot the rock. We were just about dead last in every offensive catagory in the league last season. Those of you that want to trade J. Chill, do you actually watch any of the games. He should be starting at SF ahead of M.Williams. Chill does everything better than M.Williams; ball handlding, defense, passing, rebound, shooting for a high percentage. We all know why Marvin starts!
  13. Allen pumped in 26pts a game last year. Jeff Green won't average 26pts if you added his next two seasons averages.
  14. After watching the Hawks draft two more young players, they realized that they are going to have to pay a fortune next year for the top 5 pick they will be getting from the Hawks! Knight is an idiot. If you are not allowed to make trades then quit!
  15. Maybe Conley Jr. should be the pick after all. They are very similar in stature and style of play. Obviously Parker is more advanced at shooting the rock right now. Conley Jr. can penetrate and he is a heck of an athlete. Just a thought.
  16. Looking at the NBA stats it is easy to see where the Hawks must improve to be a playoff contender, just about every offensive catagory known to mankind!! Dead last in points per game & 3 point pct., and 28th overall in FG pct. Who can come in at #3 and make an impact. I am not a Conley fan. I think Critty has more upside but he can be had at #11. B. Wright shot 65% from the field at UNC as a freshman. Could he be similar to A. Stoudamire?
  17. Priority One: Trade for Gasol or L. Aldridge If we can't trade for either, I think we should draft Brandon Wright. I know he is not a center but he could be something special and we can't pass on him. I think Sheldon can play center, especially in the east and Wright could play backup to Josh S. & Marvin. I bet BK really likes Critt. because of his size and athleticism. PG. Critt. Speedy SG JJ Salim C Zaza S. Williams SF M. Will J. Chill PF J. Smith B. Wright
  18. You are probably right. We would have too much money locked up in PG with Speedy & MO, so that probably wouldn't work. I still think Gasol would really help and then use #11 to draft a PG.
  19. Pau Gasol from Memphis via trade, using the #3 pick and whatever else, and we need to sign Maurice Williams away from Milwaukee. Williams ave. 17.3 pts and 6.1 assist. Gasol ave. 20.8 pts and 9.8 rebounds. No rookies at #3 & #11 will put up close to those numbers. Line-up: PG M. Williams SG J. Johnson C. P. Gasol PF J. Smith SF M. Williams
  20. Still a great draft for the Hawks. Hibbert is huge and fills a big need. Law is ready to go, Crittenden could be special in a couple of years if we can wait. The Chinese player is intriguing at #3 but we would have to move a forward or two via trade.
  21. I know we need a PG and a big but at pick 18 or so you are probably not going to find someone who could step in and start in the NBA at those positions. Almond has a skill that is NBA ready, shooting the rock. He can contribute right away. He is not a project.
  22. With the Indiana pick we should look at Morris Almond from Rice via Atlanta. He has put up big numbers this year (26.6 pts), amazing shooting percentages. He could back up Joe, or we could move Joe to the 3 for a bit and play Morris at the 2. Grabbing Morris could allow us to trade Childress if needed also.
  23. Gasol would be a perfect addition with Joe. We need a low post player. We have the pieces to get it done along with cap space. We don't need anymore young players (except Oden). I guess the question is, under the current legal constraints can the Hawks actually make a trade? Who knows?
  24. Marvin is a great kid but I just don't see the upside. He is not a dominant athlete or shooter. He will be very good but how long can we wait, especially considering we have the two Josh's. Jack would fit well with our group and be a leader on and off the court.
