  1. Should the Hawks take a chance and make a move for Artest. You've got to believe that the Pacers want to move him with his attitude problems. If you go to the Pacers official team website, Artest is no even listed on the roster or in the stats. He fits the B.Knight mode of athletic defensive type. The only problem is that he would probably take minutes from the Josh's. I say yes we should go after him this off-season.
  2. You can just look at Kwame and see that he has all the physical tools to be a big time player. If he would have went to college for four years and entered the draft this year, he would without question be the No. 1 pick. I think several teams will try to sign him and I hope the Hawks get him. He needs a new start and a coach like Woodson to teach him. Some players mature quicker than others and Kwame could mature in the next couple of years and be an all-star.
  3. Carlos Boozer of Utah. Boozer could actually play center in the east.
  4. I heard the interview also and I don't think Herb Brown is very high on Bogut or Chris Paul. He said the Hawks need three things this offseason: 1. A "taller" point guard who can run the team, not necessarily score alot. (Deron Williams) 2. A center who can rebound, run the floor and block shots. (S. Dalembert, K. Brown) 3. A pure shooter to better free up the low-post scorer Al Harrintgon. (?) One thing that he mentioned more than once was building this team around DEFENSE, which is a word that doesn't come up often when you talk about Bogut & Paul.
  5. I know we desperately need help up front, but I don't think Bogut has the athletic skills to star in the NBA. I think Paul fits a run & gun style better which fits well with Childress, Smith & Harrington. Yes we need a big man but that can be taken care of via free-agency or trade. I also love Wayne Simeon from Kansas and I would love if we could pick him up in the draft somehow. PG C. Paul SG J. Childress C K. Brown PF A. Harrington W. Simeon SF J. Smith
  6. Salim Stoudamire- He put on a shooting display once again this weekend with 37pts vs. Washington. Unbelievable! He is also a better ballhandler than I thought. He is a better shooter than Ben Gordon and we see how Gordon is contributing to the Bulls. I think Stoudamire will be a mid 1st round draft pick when it is all said and done. If the Hawks get the Lakers 1st round pick I wouldn't hesitate in taking him. Wayne Simeon- Continues to show he has impressive offensive skills in the low block and he is a very good rebounder. I think he would give the Hawks flexibility with playing Harrington at the 3 or 4 position. If he's around with the Lakers pick, it would be a tough decision to make between Simeon and Stoudamire.
  7. According to reports, NBA scouts love Andrew Bogut (6'10", 240lbs) of Utah and he could be the #1 overall pick. He has a very good low post game and is a great rebounder. He is very experienced having played on the Austrailian National team. He would definetly fill a need for the Hawks but just about anybody would. I say we draft either Bogut or Splitter and throw a lot of money at Joe Johnson. Obviously we would still have holes to fill, especially at PG. Line-up PG- Lue, Ivey, Draft Pick SG- Johnson, Childress C- Bogut, ? SF- J. Smith PF- Harrington
  8. Boone has shot up the charts on most draft boards. He has good size (6'10") and looks like he has grown since last season. Big time rebounder which the Hawks could really use. He's really bright also, he scored a 1200 on his SAT's. Plus we could use another player named Josh!
  9. We need to spend whatever it takes to go after Joe Johson from Phoenix. He is having a great season and he is a restricted FA at the end of the year. They have dished out big money already for Q. Richardson & S. Nash so they will not throw big money to Joe. With our number 1, we should draft either C. Paul for PG or T. Splitter for PF.
  10. The Hawks are a young team as it is. They cannot start out next year with a rookie point guard. This rebuilding stage cannot last for years. One guy to look at is Earl Watson with the Grizzlies. He is a free-agent who puts up good numbers for the minutes he gets to play. He started tonight for the Griz and put up 19pts and 9 ast. We should draft a big man with our number one and also sign or trade for one using Walker as bait. Kwame would be my target. The other option is to use Diaw at the point exclusively.
  11. K-Mart is not coming to a team with 4 rookies and a bunch of nobody's. The Hawks are going to have to overpay for younger players and hope they blossom. My #1 target would Etan Thomas. I really like Thomas because he is very physical. He produced good numbers last year for his minutes and because the Wizards just took on Jamison's long-term deal they probably will let him ride if he gets a semi-large deal from the Hawks. I like Swift's athleticism but I am concerned about his basketball I.Q. He seems to just wonder around the court. Would you trade J.Terry to Seatle for V. Radmonovic who could probably play PF in the east?
  12. If we stay put, I think the logical choice is Childress. He is better athlete than most people think. I like the fact that he is a very good rebounder for his size which shows me he understands the game. At #17, we will need to go big, I hope that K. Humphries is there. I would trade up using our 2nd rd picks and future #1's to get Humphries. Our main targets in free-agency should be Marquis Daniels & Etan Thomas. Line-up: Terry, Daniels, Thomas, Diaw/Childress, Humphries
  13. When you look at his size, left-handed shooting stroke, passing skills and his great shooting percentages, Luke Jackson reminds me of Chris Mullin. One exception is that Jackson is a better athlete than Mullin. Jackson would be a bigger name if he played on the east coast. I think we should definetly consider Jackson at #6 if we keep the pick.

    Looking ahead

Kris Humphries almost went pro last year out of high school. He is averaging 22.5pts and 10.5 boards a game for Minn. as a Freshman. I believe he will move up the draft boards as the draft nears. Very strong and athletic.
  15. For all of you B. Diaw lovers, have you noticed the numbers that Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels put up for the Dallas summer league team in LA. Howard average 21Pts/8Reb in six games. Marquis Daniels from Auburn was used at the point and at 6'6" 200lbs he was scoring at will. He was averaging 25Pts/5Reb/4.5Ast. midway through, but I can't find his final stats. I know he went for 38Pts in one game. Daniels went undrafted. While our scouts where in France, two guys that could have really helped us where right here in our backyard. By the way, has anyone told Diaw that the object of the game is to put the round ball into the piece of round steel attached to the glass with the painted square.
  16. Your statement that "Diaw is the glue that holds the pieces together..." is hilarious. Have you seen his stats for there finals. In game#1 he lit it up for 7 Pts. and in game #2 Diaw came back to earth and scored a big 4 Pts. We can really use his 5.5 pts per game next year. The Hawks continue to take chances with draft picks (D.Johnson) instead of taking players that can help this team win immediately. Howard can flat out play. He does all the little things. Mark Cuban stated that they (Mavericks) were trying to trade up in the teens or low 20's to pick Howard. Of all the teams in the NBA, the Mavs know the foreign talent better than anyone and they still went after Howard. B. Knight said that he has seen Diaw play in person only twice. To me, no way I take that risk on Diaw. When the Hawks drafted Diaw, Jay Bilas of ESPN didn't have Diaw in the top 15 players left on the board. I hope Knight enjoys his trip to Paris because that is the last trip he will take on the Hawks dime.
  17. Look up his stats. He shot less than 35% from the college three point line.
  18. Bogans is twice the shooter Hansen is. People are mistaken if they think Hansen is a great shooter. Look up their stats.
  19. What a joke! We draft a soft (and I mean panzzzzy) player who can't shoot in Diaw. This guy doesn't even start in the French league and you people have him starting in the Hawks back court. Josh Howard is a proven leader and very solid. We worked out 55 players and then draft a player we didn't work out. Has Knight even seen Diaw play in person? Then at 37 we pass on English who can flat out light it up for Hanson who is 25yrs old and can't shoot either. He made only 30 three pointers last year. Good by Billy Knight, what a joke. Good by to the Hawks, I give up.
  20. Jones was listed as one of the best shooters in the Chicago camp. He has good size for SF (6'8", 220lbs) and if you look at his stats he seems pretty good defensively with regard to steels and block shots. One added bonus is that he is an academic All-American with a degree in Finance. He will most likely be available at #37.
  21. Josh Howard will be taken in the first round and we had him in yesterday. I also believe Dante Jones and Carl English have shots at being taken in the first round. Just because these mock drafts don't have them there doesn't mean their not worthy. I believe several of the European players will fall into the secound round once all is said and done. The other answer is that the Hawks don't want to give away who they are interested in since the draft is so wide open. At #21 I believe I would take eithe Boris Diaw or Josh Howard. At #37 I would hope English is available.
  22. After hours of research I am concluding that Carl English, Hawaii, is the man the Hawks need to get and we most likely can get him with the 37th pick. English excelled at the Chicago camp this past week. He has size (6'5", 200lbs) athletic ability, ball handling ability and good range on his shot. He had 98 three-pointers in college last year while shooting a good percentage. English is intelligent (all-academic team) and could easily start at the 2 position for us next season. According to an article I read, he is scheduled to work out with the Hawks. Two other guards that I am intrigued with are Marquis Daniels, Auburn, and Derrick Zimmerman,MSU. They are both extremely athletic, can handle the ball and play great defense. Both should be available if we get the 42nd pick.

    Draft

I believe Diaw is a very good fit for the Hawks needs. I would pick either Diaw or Josh Howard at #21. Diaw can handle the ball, dish the ball and play defense. Howard continues to get better each year and he has all the intangibles. At #37, I would look at either Mario Austin for a big body or possibly Maquis Daniels or Carl English. Daniels and English have point guard skills along with good size.
  24. If I where the GM of the Hawks these are the players I would be looking at: PF- David West, Mario Austin, Brian Cook SG/SF- Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels PG- Chris Thomas, Troy Bell, Mo Williams I think the Hawks could actually get two quality players due to the overall depth because of all the foreign players. One guy who is intriguing to me is Marquis Daniels from Auburn. If you saw him play in the NCAA Tourn. against Syracuse then you know what I'm talking about. Daniels is extremely athletic, can handle and pass the ball and he plays great defense. He probably will be available with the 37th pick unless he shows off at some of the workouts. I think the Hawks can definetly add some depth with potential future starters with this draft.
