He will bring us a ton of fans. There is a large Asian population in Metro Atlanta and I can tell you from experiences that they love their Asians athletes... Especially ones that are borderline "stars". Hype or not... Bad contract or not. Ferry needs to make this deal happen. Clever marketing.

    Some pieces in place

Atlanta's roster could look barren, but where it is in regard to the other suitors is probably being overlooked.

Al Horford is signed through the 2015-16 season, and putting Howard alongside another All-Star big man would immediately give the Hawks one of the most dangerous front lines in the NBA. After all, Budenholzer has first-hand experience working with two big men in the post. He joined the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant in 1996, a year before the Twin Towers era of Tim Duncan and David Robinson began.

Additionally, the Hawks have perimeter scorer Lou Williams in tow for another two seasons, and will sign deadeye shooter Kyle Korver to a four-year deal.

It's a lot of info we already know but we cannot give up on this yet Hawks fans, there's still a chance.

  3. Dwight Howard respects Jose Calderon's game, per a source. He thinks they'd play well together since Calderon is a good facilitator/shooter.

I'm told Dwight Howard and Jose Calderon are interested in playing together. Calderon may wait for Howard to make a decision before signing.

It's no coincidence that when Dwight Howard to Houston rumors started heating up, there was a subsequent Jeremy Lin for Jose Calderon rumor.

    Last Team: Atlanta Hawks

    Age: 27

    Position: PF

    2012-13 Per-Game Stats: 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 blocks, 1.2 steals, 17.82 PER

    Type of Free Agency: Unrestricted

If Josh Smith were required to attack the basket, post up or pass the ball on every single possession, he'd be one of the 10 best players in the NBA. He has that much physical and defensive talent.

However, Smoove has this strange notion that he's a top-tier jump-shooter ingrained in his brain, no matter how many times Philips Arena showers him with groans when he clanks another shot off the back of the rim.

Assuming your stomach has recovered from viewing Monta Ellis' shot chart, take a look at Josh Smith's, once more courtesy of Basketball-Reference.com. It's even uglier!

At least Ellis' red Xs fall behind the three-point arc, rather than populating the area of the court notorious for low efficiency. The long two-pointer is the worst shot in basketball, and yet it's the one that Smoove likes the most.

It's unacceptable for a player as physically talented as Smith to shoot over 300 times from 16 to 23 feet over the course of a single season, especially when he makes only 32.9 percent of the attempts.

Sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that Evans, frustrated by the state of his negotiations with the Sacramento Kings as a restricted free agent, is determined to leave the organization and plans to sign an offer sheet with the New Orleans Pelicans on the first allowable day.

One by one we will keep seeing the free agent pool drying up. If we can't at least get a B level player I've lost hope in Ferry.

  6. A buddy of mine that has to ride MARTA to go virtually everywhere saw Billy Knight today on one of the trains. Wonder what he's doing around town... I know he goes to Dream games sometimes. Guess he still lives down here or something. If I saw him out somewhere I'd probably cuss him out.
