Thank you Jesus!
We are all aligned of who we should get.
Sarr is the only clear top 3 talent so you take him

We really need a top 3 pick. History shows that within those top 3 there is good odds on a starter/all star.

Manifesting good vibes for a top 3 pick today. I'm hoping we stack our roster with lengthy wings...
Time to revive the BILLY KNIGHT MODEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This mock has Castle at #3 https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2024-nba-mock-draft-uconns-stephon-castle-makes-big-jump-after-strong-ncaa-tournament/

I don’t think Orlando is going to gut their roster

So the pelicans had negative defenders in cj, BI, Zion, and Val but finished as a very good defense on the season? How that happen if their top 8 is riddled with negative defenders
You’ve already made you’re decision on a BI deal and his fit before even seeing him play in the uniform so there is no changing your opinion regardless
On the Squawk there is always 1-5 that are permanently opposed to a media conjured deals and they very much make it known as if we as a group have any say. We go through it every time.

Like KAT, Siakam, and all the other linked names before... Ingram is a clear upgrade for this roster. It still doesn't address defense but it's still an upgrade.
That's basically the consensus. As for DJM and OO... I'm ok with them leaving as long as there is a defender attached to BI like Dyson and FRP.
I think Dyson, the Lakers Pick, and BI, and a lotto protect first = DJ and OO

Yeah, IMO Castle is the guy if he is there at your pick and Risacher, Sheppard, and Sarr aren't there

I was thinking maybe Giannis might want to come to Atlanta this off-season
I think since Jrue left the vibe is off

Right now, we likely have Trae, Bogi, BI, and JJ. Draft Edey and that fixes most of our troubles. Sure, defense will take some time but we should focus on a world class offense that can score 3 levels like we did when we bad Kevin with Bogi and one that can score easy buckets which we have never had in Atlanta. Only St. Louis with Pettit
If we are smart we do the complete opposite of this, except keep Trae.
We need Trae, JJ, Risacher, Kobe Bufkin… and a butt load of defenders

I think you have it backwards. His defensive potential could be great with development and experience. His offense is a mess and he doesn't play winning basketball at all. While could he, possibly but you would be taking a risk you aren't sure you will see the reward.
Holland? Holland is nowhere near a defender. His offensive game is average to me. I wasn’t saying it was either/or
-
While Ron Holland would be a great offensive potential (Jabari Smith like)... He has a long way to go before he is a defender that is worthwhile. I'd rather have Risacher or Castle if we don't get the high lottery
Also, can't deny Reed Sheppard due to the Kentucky product history

Had written out a bigger message, but it’s important to remember accurately. During the 27-11 streak and ECF run we did NOT play Kris Dunn much. Delon Wright and Rondo were not even on the roster, traded Rondo for Lou.
Solo played a ton of minutes, but Capela was DPOY level. He got injured and lost his burst. The guards were not defensive players at all. Front line was unlocked Capela, Collins, and Solo. But Capela was like an MVP candidate for a stint. He carried the defense and was even a more fit roll partner on offense.
When his injury hampered him we became a .500 team. We never replaced that production.
The defensive statistic is based on the whole season. Our defense was very good before the trade deadline.
The bit about Capela is true but Snell, Solo and Rondo did play a big part in the first half of the season to help the defensive statistic.
Granted, we haven't seen any defenders on this roster as good as them besides maybe Kobe (very raw) since then.

That team was pretty special second half of the season, but we've been going backwards and the rest of the league has been going forwards.
If you notice, we substituted defensive players for offensive players.. thats why we went downhill.
Kris Dunn
Delon Wright
Solo
Rondo
Tony Snell
We had the 12th ranked defense that season.
That was outrageously different than what we've seen since then.We then were then
21st in defense in 2021-22,
then 26th in 22-23,
now 28th in defense in 23-24.
Our offense is
13th in 2020-2021.
6th in 21-22,
3rd last year,
top 5 this year,
OUR OFFENSE GOT BETTER AND OUR DEFENSE GOT MUCH WORSE...
THAT IS WHY WE LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!There is so much debate here, this player this, this player that, quin does this, quin does that, traes the problem, dj's the problem... nobody ever gets their head out of the sand and demands why our defense has consistently sucked and why it's not getting fixed.

You have no idea how drastically better we would be adding
Herb Jones
Jarrett Allen
and possibly getting a Marcus Smart or Alex Caruso
That would be REAL INTELLIGENT GM'ing around Trae and JJ- 4

Scoring is what he does and this is truly horrific (SSS granted):
This is not what we need from our co-lead scorer:
This is not real good as a partner with Trae:
This is terrible:
This seems very ill-suited to the offense that I assume Quin wants to run:
Does this align to you?
Given his contract demands, I'm out on Ingram. Not in the sense that I won't cheer for him if we trade for him and he lines up in a Hawks uniform but in the sense that I can't really see a scenario where it doesn't end up being a mistake.
I've said before that DJM and Ingram are extremely similar players. That is a problem even if Ingram fits better with Trae by virtue of his height. Fitting better isn't necessarily fitting well and I don't think you can double down on trading for an All-Star who is a bad fit with Trae and expecting the kinds of results we all want to see.
This is Siakam discussion deja vu……

Based on how the NBA is.. Risacher is who I would take #1
i think the success rate of talented lengthy wings is much higher these days

This is the TYPE of player the Hawks need. Someone that has a big impact on the game without scoring.
A Herb Jones. An Isaac Okoro. A Johnathan Isaac.
I 100% agree. We have no dogs that hound teams defensively.
we have a team full of players worried about getting their stats.. whether they make it obvious or not.

Those who say trade the pick or it's bad.. This is the literal first time we have had #1 and you think they are trading it?
Wow... I feel like some of you haven't graduated elementary school
