I agree with you.  It makes sense for them to shop Trae around in either case.  If they are actually considering trading him, you have to see what kind of value you can get back.  If you want to trade Murray, it's helpful to drive a narrative that you'd rather keep him, to make sure you're getting other teams' best offers.  I'm guessing we will keep Trae and get what we get for Murray, but I do genuinely believe there's a possibility we move forward without Trae.

For reasons having to do with the Centennial Yards Entertainment district, there is no chance they trade Trae (I don't care either way) but it's obvious on that front unless he specifically "asks out" like Dame did eventually.

However, I think it's clear they will test DJM's market again and I hope we can change the rest of the roster up.

  2. I’m really sour on NBA writers and so called sources after the last few years. I can’t believe any of that trash anymore

the process of scenario creation and rinse and repeat is continuous trash cycling.

These so called sources will have you spinning in 5000 directions before the actual real truth is put out by Woj

  3. Trying to convince me that Hollinger has sources is ridiculous and reaks of bias pushing by posters here looking for Trae to get traded.

Honestly I don’t care who gets traded but this team sucks big time at defense. But trying to tell me Hollinger is connected and more than just a columnist is fan fiction itself.

Why the Warriors, Bulls, Hawks and Kings face tough choices after Play-In Tournament exits - The Athletic

    Some snippets:

    • John says the Hawks could return all 12 players with contracts for next season, sign Vit to a NBA deal, and fill out the rest of the team with the likely 10th pick and stay a hair under the luxury tax.
    • He also says that league handicappers, whatever that means, believe that Young is more likely to be moved than Murray.
    • He says that trading young for multiple smaller deals allows them to push themselves back from the tax line and also sets them up to give Jalen Johnson a big extension.
    • John Collins trade exception expires June 26th, but he says Atlanta could use this exception to generate one of similar size in a Young deal.

I think he significantly undersells the continued improvement of Jalen and Onyeka.

He has been outrageously wrong on many things for many years.

Another source that thinks were more likely to trade Trae.

John Hollinger is not a source. He is as much of a source as Jeff Schulz was. He was and always will be a columnist.

Starting Hunter and CC is a hard pass for me. I'm intrigued by Miles but you aren't doing anything to fix the biggest weakness from this year.

Keep Hunter, but off the bench. Let CC go or come off the bench.

Hunter and Capela gotta go. I agree

Bogi is not our starting SG.

    Trae-SG-SF-Jalen-Center

Trae and Jalen are the only starters for next year we currently have. We need better defensive players at the other spots.

Aye Hawksquawk wouldn't be Hawksquawk of we let simple errors and miscues slide, amirite?

But seriously though, MIL defense sucks so what's IND's excuse.  Pacers whupped them all regular season.

KG if you're team is great on offense and sucks at defense you are likely to get exposed in the playoffs

Really?  In what way?  We score 125 … the other team still scores 130.

We literally have watched this unfold for season after season..

Tell me ya'll.. how many times we had 135 scored on Charlotte but Terry went for 40 and they scored 142.

I'm telling ya.. ya'll got your head in the sand.

Literally what offense talent are we going to add to this... that is literally stupid for a front office to do.

Add some freaking defenders man... how freaking hard is it.

As long as you always scoring at an elite rate, you are also generally set on defense.

    NO

above average scoring and average to above average defense gets you in the top 4

    elite scoring doesn’t mean squat.

you think the pacers are a threat to win the finals? No way

  9. LOL at the advanced stat geniuses.

it doesn’t take a rocket scientist that we we lose so many games to having a porous defense.

no advanced stat metric combing offensive and defensive stats will give you that.

we are near the bottom of the league in defense every year since 2020.

whether it be personnel or scheme.. watching games daily you will see opposite team random scorers get hot and them hit corner 3’s consistently.

GET BETTER DEFENSIVELY, WIN MORE GAMES

advanced stats can go in the trash

CBS Sport floated out trading Young for Ingram and some picks.  Thats interesting because the Pelicans don't have a true point guard and Barkley mentioned it during a recent telecast. I looked at that and saw a better plan (because its more doable). I believe neither the Hawks or Pelicans would want to move off Ingram or Young. That plan would be to trade DJM to the Pelicans for Herbert Jones and Dyson Daniels. The numbers say it would work with the Pelicans receiving DJM and the Hawks receiving Herbert Jones and Dyson Daniels.  Picks can be worked out obviously.  The strength of THAT trade would be the Hawks getting length and defense from Jones and Daniels and scoring from Jones.

I still think the Pelicans and Griff are the ideal trade partner for this offseason...

Anything centered on DJM and including Herb Jones would be great...

We keep Trae because of 27/10 and Ressler needs to sell tickets.

DJM for Ingram + picks seems realistic and could help both teams.

But my preferences would be Mikal Bridges, Jaylen Brown, or Herb Jones....just don't see any of those 3 being traded.

For double extra credit, I'd draft Dalton Knecht.

    this is a good plan

I been after Mikal badly. Perfect fit for us and he’d be happy as well because the Nets aren’t as far along as we are as a franchise.

    @theheroatl I’m feelin ya!

Exactly.. or maybe Jaylen Brown forces a trade.. those racist Boston fans don’t deserve him

Except that they didn't.  The offense was significantly worse, and the defense was buoyed by the fact that they were either bad offensive teams or team's that had nothing to play for (Boston).

    This is true.

i still think the best route is stick with Trae and use DJM to get more defense. Sign and trade for defense across the board.

dump Bey Capela and Dre for better defenders

    Out:

    Bey, Dre, Capela, DJM

    In:

Starters for Defensive Center, Defensive Forwards (OG or Trey or Bridges or Herb types), start Bogi at the 2 and use Kobe to back him up. Sign Delon Wright to backup Trae.
