  1. I can see how this sustaining and loyalty works.   Sap could have easily gone to Orlando, teamed up with Harris and been a very decent team... probably a playoff team.   However, he took less money to come back.

    Shades of Ginobili.

Thats a good point. You are correct. My problem is, ADD a big time superstar to what they already got. Pay the luxury tax IF they can. If Sap took less money, isnt that MORE money the Hawks couldve used somewhere else???

  2. Seeing has how Cleveland, Lakers, Spurs and everybody else can FIND ways to go over and beyond the cap...................here is a suggestion for Hawks ownership, who will find a way again NEXT year to say they have no money............trade the WHOLE bench for Boogie......................lol

  3. Well, seeing as how Coach Bud felt it was more important to help his former mentor clear salary so that the spurs could HAVE that continuity instead of figuring out a way to entice Aldridge to the Hawks...................

Garbage article because Sekou know what is up................

OH!! Sekou forgot the article about how Cleveland is doing the same thing, with their wanting to sign Joe Johnson. Funny how certain teams manage to FIND ways to go over the cap, early bird, late bird, luxury tax, etc. etc. but other teams cannot.............the NBA is a joke............

  4. In all fairness, Antić's impact also showed up in film and not just analytics. For all reasoning, Wes Johnson has been below average analytics player for his whole career. Antić in Atlanta has been an above average one even with increased minutes.

5.7 points, 3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. THATS the only stat that matters with Pero. Analytics is for bum players to justify them being on a team............

You but Johnson in that starting lineup for the Hawks, and he is a allstar. Put him in the hawks SYSTEM, and they going to the NBA finals....

  5. As they are, the Hawks STILL dont have the ability to beat Cleveland. Sign Wesley Johnson, and things change in the East. In fact, if Thabo comes back from injury, and plays BEHIND Johnson, i see the Hawks running away with their Division again and meeting Cleveland AGAIN in the Eastern Conference finals.

Coach Bud said the Hawks problem was more a problem of lack of scoring in the playoffs, vs lack of interior post play. What he is saying is in their SYSTEM, it purposely is slanted more toward out scoring your opponent, vs, interior defensive play. I see his point and agree.

When Kyle Korver stopped  producing, that was the end of the Hawks.......

Soooo.........Bud went out and got Hardaway. Johnson would be the icing on the cake.........

  6. Some of the hate on this board for a guy who is probably more athletic than ANY current Hawk and plays MONSTER defense, on a BUSTED Laker team. If DMC can come here and play like a allstar, Johnson would come here and play like ALL NBA.  Its like fans in Atlanta are allergic to athletic players, but defended to the end thru analytics the stiff that was Pero Antić..........lmao. You cant make this stuff up.........

  7. Wesley could definitely start for this team. Whoever starts at SF is gonna be spot starter anyways. Just because he starts doesn't mean he has to average 30+ minutes a game. I would prefer Timmy Jr. off the bench considering we need some scoring there. Korver needs to start slow this season judging from all the surgeries he has had to endure this offseason. The more I think about it the more I like Korver and Timmy Jr. off the bench at times with Splitter/Tavares controlling the paint. Their spotty perimeter defense will be hidden because we have an anchor in the paint now.

I agree. From what i saw of him, he CAN start for this bunch at small forward. I see more potential there than when they got DMC.

  8. Thank God we didn't offer more than $12 a season for him. He's good but he can't consistently out the team on his back or get you points when you need to go to him.

It was all good on the board with Carroll earlier in the day. There are a hundred " good luck to Carroll," " best wishes to Carroll" posts in the thread about him leaving..Now that he exposed the Hawks for the frauds they are, now its " forget Carroll"...............

I told yall the Hawks aint serious about winning championships.....................

  9. And I was just warming up to a Splitter/Horford frontcourt.

    Millsap at SF?

This SAP signing has me rethinking this whole off season also. I was cool with the Tiago signing, because dummy me, thought the Hawks was gonna go hard after a small forward. But nah, i dont know WHAT they doing now..........

Not worth arguing with someone so ignorant to how facy and the cap work

Evidently the Hawks dont know either because brah, there is not ONE championship banner hanging at Phillips Arena.......

  10. It isn't that simple.  You can't just pay someone more than you have cap space for unless you have "full Bird" rights on them.  If you sign outsiders, you can't go over the cap at all.  Luxury tax or no luxury tax.  It's not an option.

But WHY does Atlanta always find themselves in that situation?  See, Dwayne Wade KNEW the Heat was serious when he took his pay cut, because the Heat was going HARD after  Lebron James. You think that Sap and DMC wouldnt have done the same thing for the Hawks if they was looking HARD at adding one of the top tier free agents??? I believe they would have.

You got to sell the free agents that you mean business about that chip. Offer the max if you can, but if you cant, at least you got them somewhere in the ballpark to accept less because you going hard at that chip.

  11. What would you have done to make things work?

I already said it. Dump contracts and go straight into the luxury tax with max deals for Sap, DMC and Aldridge or Green, etc. Whatever it took. NBA players are not stupid. They know the serious players and the ones who gonna just get by, like the Hawks have always done.

  12. They were interested in Aldridge and he took them off the list.

And what does that one play have to do with anyth....wait why am i answering this nonsense?

I wouldve took them off MY list too if they didnt give me any indication that they was serious players. Money talks.............

  13.  Man, im gonna say this over and over. If the Hawks were SERIOUS about championships, we wouldve heard news that THEY were looking at Aldridge, Gasol, Green, etc. etc. etc. Same ole, same ole. Ferry did the SAME thing. Carroll and Millsap were nobodies. Ferry had a CHUNK of cap space to work with.

I GET the building around a SYSTEM. I GET IT. Thats not the problem. You STILL need PLAYERS. As great as the triangle offense is, it STILL needed a Michael Jordan, a Kobe Bryant, a Shaquille Oneal, etc. to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. We saw that in the playoffs, you STILL need SUPERSTARS. Yeah, it was a feel good story. I loved it. A team of castoffs winning 60 games, etc. but they got DESTROYED in the playoffs. Even if Thabo was there, they wouldve lost.

    Have yall forgot:

    Tooeasy.gif

If boogie Cousins dont come thru that door in a trade, or Green, etc.  its the same ole, same ole 40 plus year Atlanta Hawks not winning a championship, wait till next year, we building, blah, blah, blah.........

I wouldve sat DMC and Sap down WITH MR. big mouth Ressler who CLAIM he gonna spend money, and told all of them, we gonna sign you and go HARD after Aldridge, Green, etc. You ADD to your stack, not take away. I wouldve been dumping contracts left and right to make all that happen. Every NBA analyst on tv has been saying ALL DAY that THIS off season was the off season to over pay your free agents, because of the new TV contracts coming out next year will make these max signings look like chump change.

Everybody can do something: Miami, Cleveland, Clippers, everybody can figure out how to pay everybody except the Hawks. Ressler aint spending no money. He gonna spruce up Phillips or get a new arena, increase the value and sell them within 10 years. He is about INVESTING. He shouldve been the FIRST owner out there kicking down top free agents doors, to make a impression in the NBA that the Hawks are serious, but they not.

  14. Find me the "holes" in this roster (10-deep):

    PG - all-star, Jeff Teague - backup - Dennis

SG - all-star, Kyle Korver - backup - Tim Hardaway Jr.

SF - Thabo Shef. - backup - Baze

PF - all-star Paul Millsap - backup - other players as assigned depending on rotations

C -  all-star AL Horford - backup - Tiago Splitter and Mike "Moose" Muscala

That's not even counting Mack who is a great emergency guard.

People aint stupid. They know thats not gonna win the East. In fact, Toronto has just stepped in front of the Hawks. Hawks are about a 4 or 5 seed right now.
