You don't think Boston has a chance?
Nope. Dallas plays defense and Boston's key players don't have the closing ability of Kyrie and Luka. After the Hawks traded Luka, I wanted Kyrie. It met negativity on this board from a very few but I knew what Kyrie brings to the table. When Kyrie was with Brooklyn he stepped back and let Harden run the show. In Dallas he has took it upon himself to be the leader and it shows. I say Dallas in 6 games.

Kyrie about to win a championship with his second team.

(a) ... that was the beginning of their rise to the NBA's upper tier?
(b) ... that was a complete one-off, and that team more than the two others predictably was destined to go back to the hamster wheel?
Just curious to hear opinions.
That Hawks team that went to the ECF a few years back with Trae and Nate McMillan.

Luka and Kyrie showing out. I wanted both of them at one point or another on the Hawks. Kryie one of the best pure scoring guards ever with a monster mid game and Luka just unguardable because of his size and passing ability in the backcourt.

Hunter would be a star playing with the Pacers.

Kyrie had a very good interview after the game. He explained how he became the leader of the team and how they would have team meetings and he would help with the younger players.
He said being eliminated from being able to play in the playoffs last season was unacceptable so he took it upon himself to be the team leader to prevent it happening again this season.

Not saying Indy is out of it but damn they pissed away a golden opportunity to control the series. If they win chances are Boston’s sphincters get super tight in game 2 on some UGK sh!t. Who knows why Carlisle didn’t foul to prevent the three among other late blunders.
The Pacers aren’t gonna all of a sudden start forcing themselves to the line, Boston is gonna continue to get those lucky ass offensive boards off threes, and Myles Turner’s Kyle Korver impression has to regress soon. At the end of the day the Celts have the best player in the series by a wide margin which usually wins out.
I can respect that Jaylen and Jayson have never fronted like they’re tight nor had any beef spill into the media all these years that I know of. I think Jaylen has always thought he’s better than Jayson who’s passively like gtfoh fool.

I don't care we missed out on Siakam. That wouldn't have been enough of a game changer for us.
I mean, the Hawks can't sign every superstar in the league. If Trae is the guy folks say he is then he shouldn't need more than Siakam and Johnson.

Seems that my choice in a draft a few seasons ago is going to the finals in the east this season. Haliburton has looked pretty good so far. Still haven't decided who I want to win it all this season. Who do you have??
I like Halliburton. He went under the radar with me. He is a very good player. He reminds me of Murray but has a better jump shot than Murray.

Had the exact same thought watching the game last night. Indy gonna regret not getting game 1, imo.
Up 3 with 10 sec to play and the ball. All you gotta do is inbound and make a ft. Call a to if you can't get a clean inbound. Just dumb.
I remember when folks was clowning the Pacers when they was down 2-0 to the Knicks. The Pacers play basketball the correct way. They will be ok in this series.

Teams with high powered offenses and swiss cheese defense (like the Hawks) are living on borrowed time in the deep playoffs
When was the Hawks in the playoffs? You got to be IN the playoffs to be living on "borrowed time".

One of the things I like about a potential Sarr/Young pairing is like Jalen Johnson the Hawks can run their offense thru Sarr. I'm not buying into anyone saying that Sarr has to work on his offense. The dude already can ball on that end. With Capela you just had the pick and roll. With Sarr, he can set the pick and read the defense and step back and pop. Pick and pop. The ball is in his hand and now you have options. Sarr has point guard attributes. He essentially becomes the point guard. Trae can run through the defense and back out to the wing. The defense doesn't know whether to defend the roll or stay home with Sarr. Meanwhile you got Jalen on the wing waiting to cut or step out. Its soo good the Hawks are gonna mess this up.

I didn't know about the Ressler part. That means that he isn't willing to do what it takes to produce a winner.
Yeah ... I thought I would never come to this point. But if they piss off this offseason, I'm not spending money and hours upon hours following the goings-on with this team.
Why give the effort if they're not gong to?
Look at it like this. Again, this is not a knock on Trae. You look at Dallas. Luka had a higher "usage" percentage than Trae Young this season. Kyrie had just a slightly lower "usage" than Trae. The team assists is near the same. The difference is defense. Where Dallas was middle of the pack the Hawks of course are near the league bottom. The other team I want to compare is Indiana. Not much better than Atlanta defensively but they are the top team in the league in assists.
That means the Hawks have two choices: Improve the defense or improve the team assists by removing Trae and Murray from their dominate roles on offense. Sarr is the answer for the defensive route. The second route is where its gets complicated. Since the Hawks are not gonna surround Trae with a Brandon Ingram for instance on offense, the offense itself has to change. Trae has to have the ball in his hands. Thats HIS game. This is the reality of what the Hawks have on their plate and they know it which is why they are considering moving off of Trae. Its cheaper to build a team with a bunch of assist guys over bringing Ingram, Siakam, etc. or somebody of that caliber into the fold. Ingram and Siakam can demand the ball from Trae but they bring price tags. The Sarr thing is very interesting. Its no telling which way they are gonna go. It wouldn't shock me if they trade down into around 10 in the draft to save salary and get picks and or role players.

@Vol4ever also noted that Ressler wasn't willing to pay him, so why would he want to come?
The Hawks ain't for real. I've been harping on that since Ressler bought the team. This ain't a knock on Trae Young but as long as Ressler and Steve Koonin have Trae to market they are gonna double talk and play musical chairs because they are not going to stack the roster with the required talent to win a championship. The alternative is you have to build a TEAM that can maximize its talent. The Hawks being guard centric around Trae and not playing defense leaves the Hawks in a no win situation. The results speak for themselves. What, two, three play-in appearances and no playoff appearance this season. It wouldn't shock me if the Hawks trade their rights to Sarr to avoid having to pay him, Trae and or Dejuante eventually. Its a business. Thats all it is.

Easiest path ever.. No Giannis and Dame and the Knicks with 4 starters out.. lol
Good for them though....
I remember when the Knicks was up 2-0 and I had a family member bragging on the Knicks. When the Pacers started winning the "injuries" talk came up...lmao

He was a nice pickup, but what Carlisle has done with this squad is pretty remarkable imo. They're way better than the total talent of that roster
They play team ball and have very good scorers with a very high assist rate. They had 50 assists vs the Hawks in January and 41 assist in that 157-115 dismantling of the Hawks. I knew they was gonna be a handful in the playoffs.

I don't believe anyone thinks Trae was our shadow GM who called all the shots. I do think there is a potential for a nuanced conversation on Trae's influence. Something more than zero impact on several of our moves.

Most people on this planet are robots. If you think outside the box and think for yourself, you are not liked. Ignorant folks who can't think for themselves get applauded for their fake views but someone like Kyrie, no. Folks hang on the words of "entertainers and comedians" (Katt Williams) with their fake views but someone who really can think outside the box is hated whether its Kyrie or someone else.
