I'm confused, as I think I read camp say that Gallo has a say in what we guarantee him, even though the guarantee would be for more than the $5m... not saying camp is wrong, just saying that it doesn't make sense that if you want, you can just cut the guy per the contract and pay him $5m... but if you want to give him more guarantee and then cut him, he has to agree to it.... what???... I mean, it wouldn't be the first time something about the NBA CBA seemed nonsensical, but it is nonsensical.

It's difficult to imagine why Gallo would balk at this... he's getting a higher buyout than required in his contract, and just being bought out means he gets to determine where he wants to land. And at his age, you want to control that, of course.

So, I'm skeptical that that's the explanation for the current holding pattern. But who knows. Not me.

If he knows the hawks really want murray. Why wouldn’t he hold out and force the hand to increase his guaranteed $ as much as possible?

im with you - idk if that’s all it is. But that would be my guess as to why he would … should that be the situation.

It gives us a good prospect and a 20-25 1st rounder. A couple of rotational bigs. I don't know if we can do better.

I know we can. It’s called keep JC if this is the best package we can get …

not interested in A guy who could not crack the rotation of a fringe play in team and a mid 20s FRP l.

He should make teams better then if he is what you've described but he didn't and hasn't.

His net rating is one of the 3 best on the team for anyone that played a reasonable amount of minutes.

maybe the spurs as a whole got worst, but he still did his part WHILE taking a huge step up in his role. Losing a demar Derozan can do that … shocking I know. He was top 4 last year in + - for them and was within .5 of being top 2. to act like he doesn’t impact the court favorably is an interesting stance.

Haven't we seen this movie already? And I'm not saying KH can't improve on his defense and playmaking. Bogi's constant injuries makes him unreliable.

Since drafting Trae, we've have gone into EVERY offseason saying we need someone that can:

    1. play defense next to Trae and on the wings in general

    2. Handle the ball and run the offense next to Trae so he can have more CnS opportunities

    3. Alleviate some of Trae's offensive burden

    4. Be the outlet when teams trap Trae

    5. Run the offense when Trae sits

We shouldn't let another offseason past and it has not been addressed.

I’m struggling with how we can balance these issues and not gut the team/overpay for a solution with what is currently available at the rumored price.

Dumb means " can't speak vocally". Next,  the 1980's era of NBA basketball is when the NBA LET teams play physically.  Totally different style of ball.  How could Phil complain when hard fouls and all around physical play was the norm through out the league.  In fact, back then, guards didn't go into the lane without getting punished.  That was a no no.  Trae wouldn't make it out of one game back then without being physically pummeled.  Try one of them floaters of his back then.  Nah, that wasn't happening. Thats how they rolled back then.

We gonna pretend that MJ didn’t average nearly 1 FT more than trae back then (comparing career #s)?

he sure found a way to get to the FT line at an elite rate when refs all swallowed their whistles back then. I’m sure Phil never once complained about it tho.

  6. I’ll add his defense is way behind Klay (as a jr). But a lot of his issue is not an athleticism fault. Given all the time he missed in HS + at Duke due to injury, a lot of those problems are solvable with good coaching (really raw), watching tons of film and of course - live reps.

slow feet could be an issue , but maybe he gets some more burst back with health + professional training.

  7. Still not a huge fan of the pick - but I’ll be optimistic and recognize the potential he has … particularly if can get 100% healthy and stay that way.

Optimistic view: Minus a difference in build (aj is stronger) - pretty similar profile/strengths/weaknesses coming out as Klay Thompson.  But AJ is only 18.  So I’ll keep my rose colored glasses on for a little longer. Klay was more refined coming out tho, but that is to be expected as he was a junior.

  8. How about a 3 teamer …

    Kev + 16 to NOP

murray + j rich + hernangomez to atl

    j Collins + 8 + cha FRP to SAS

NOP gets a player they covet, stay in the first and shed grahams contract.

SAS gets an equivalent offer of what Jrue got … bad salary (graham which they can use 20/25 to move on from), jc (worth at least 2 mid FRPs), 8 (worth 2 mid FRPs) and a future mid FRP.

atl gets their guy and rounds out the roster with some ok bench pieces while keeping Oo + JJ keeping the Squawk happy. And far enough under cap with option to add a FA PF or move OO into that role. Still leaves option for Ayton SnT while staying under LT as well.

this day is like early Christmas to me. Gimme all the rumors.
