You've still yet to refute or oppose anything that has actually been said in this thread.
You’ve fallen into the trap. Get out while you still can!

When the Hawks win tonight, what happens to the Janet Jackson concert slated for The Farm that same evening?
That and Taylor swift all get pushed back a day! And teenage girls and parents riot .

A game. A series. Whatever. If they don't shoot better, they won't win a dang thing
Down 3-1...hello... anybody home? This is not that shooting team so that plan will fail almost 100% of the time. Even your precious Trae Young can't shoot. He is a below average outside shooter period so if he has one of his typical games and Quinn goes all in on the shoot it Trae offense, we are going to lose by 30. Having said that, Trae can have one of those rare games that he use to have and drop 50 but it seems like those days are long gone.
Excellent post! We can lock Trae in to go off for 60 tonight and carry us to a W. Thanks for that!!

I have no problem with DM getting suspended. But Tatum needs to be treated the same way for cursing the refs out and then popping off the ground, walking straight at the ref and shoving him aside. Much more contact with Tatum. Neither play was a live ball situation.
This is all I’m asking for.
A little TIC but I’m surprised Trae isn’t suspended for that “flagrant” on Tatum.

When do they announce Tatum’s for shoving the ref out of the way?

Turner seems like a good option until you look at his salary. I don't want to fill the center position with 35million per unless they are a serious offensive threat.
His salary drops to like 20 mil per after this season.

This is what we should’ve looked like the previous 2 games … at least on offense.
It’s amazing what happens when guys hit open 3s and the entire Celtics defense can’t collapse. It then opens up the paint for Trae/Murray to cook.
It wasn’t the Celtics mailing it in on defense like BumGm would have you believe. They had a bit of a Sophie’s choice situation on D.
also love targeting horford. This was classic horford for me. Getting best off the dribble. Clap. Getting bodied on the boards (I see you Tristan T). Clap. Love it when he’s playing like that but not in our uni.
Now our defense did just barely enough. But we still have a number of mental lapses that led to an easy - my guess - 10+ points in layups.
the Celtics will absolutely come out with their hair on fire. If we can stay in the game by half … they may start feeling some pressure. lots of encouraging takeaways with plenty to still clean up. The biggest is guys have to hit shots when trae or dj find you.
one last comment. You know what I want to see the start of game 4? Y’all ever see Lebron talk about Kobe opening the game in the Olympics running through Gasol on the screen to set the tone? I need that from Bey. I’ll pass on Dre cause I don’t need him giving up an easy foul. But I want to see Bey put Horford on his ass. Hard. Maybe the refs will focus more on his moving screens too.

Yeah I’m out on Towns. I don’t see him as the difference maker to get this team over the hump. Doesn’t solve a number of our issues.
especially when you account for what we have to give up for him.

Their defense is built to stop trae. Weird for him being overrated.
they are daring our guys to shoot 3s. And the game plan is working. Sigh.

Bey is struggling like Kevin is in the playoffs. You aren't gonna get many open looks when teams know you are lights out at them
Here are some numbers to dissect …
When the closest defender is within 4-6 feet / then 6+ feet (per nba.com), these guys are shooting from 3 (attempts per game) …
Bey: 50% (1 attempt) / 0% (2.5 attempts)
Collins: 50% (1) / 0% (3)
Hunter: 33.3% (1.8) / 56.8% (3.2)
bogi: 50% (3) / 20% (2.5)
JJ: 0% / 0% (1.5)
Murray: 36.4% (5.5) / 25% (2)
trae: 0% (2) / 37.5% (4)
I’m not sure the issue is we are playing a defense that can recover at some elite level. The issue is - Collins/Bey/Bogi/JJ/Murray are getting roughly 11.5 wide open (according to NBA.com) 3s a game and making 1 of those. What happens if we hit just 50% of the open looks? An extra 12+ points a game + we cut back on easy transition points given up on long rebound run outs.
Almost 30% of our 3s taken so far have been wide open by someone not named trae or Hunter. We’ve made <10% of those.
trae needs to stop being careless with turnovers like it’s a preseason game + try more on defense. But how about when he or Murray find you - the guys make open looks? Not asking to make contested fadeaways - no. Just make 50% of the gimme 3s we are supposed to. That could be the difference in a 7 game series and a sweep.
let’s hope the role players find their footing at home like we frequently see in the playoffs.- 3

Turnover … 10 - 5
pts odd … 5 - 13
pts in paint … 18 - 38
turnovers and letting them run layup lines is the difference so far. Where is some pride? We need someone to bring a different mentality to this team.
I want Pat Bev to accept a backup role and get this teAms head right. Royce O’Neal and Crowder both high up on that list too.

No it wouldn't. Bradley would run out of Atlanta, asap. Trae don't just dominate the rock, he got no off ball game so Beal ain't seeing much coverage difference and then the defensive load would be 10x greater than when Wall got washed on that end for Beal.
And this my friends explains the Trae Young experience
… let me finish that sentence for you. And this my friends explains the Trae Young, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Joel Embiid, James Harden, and the list continues, experience.
No single player is winning a championship by themselves.
If Al horford is a better player because of … reasons. Then I surmise as is Delon Wright. We should have given him the max and let trae walk.
i feel like I stepped in the twilight zone in this thread. And with that. Best of luck. I’m out on this one. Sheesh.

I don't like the switching defense for this team. I think the Celtics are good at Dialing up the switch that they want. I think that's their strength. If we're not in a pure man to man and we're playing through.. .I would like us to be in a good zone.
They are too good of shooters to go to pure zone or go man to man and not switch. Mix it in - sure. Otherwise they will rain 3s on us. Now our switching needs to be better. They had way too many layups from laziness and ball watching … gave up an easy 10+ we shouldn’t have.

Trae / DM / Hunter / JC / OO
trae or DM / Bogi / AJ / Bey / JJ with a a little CC mixed in (100% of the time Williams is on the court).
Need more shooting and wings that can switch on the perimeter this series. CC should get 20-24 minutes a game, but we need more OO.

We’d have to trade up, but I’m big fan of Taylor Hendricks. His ceiling could be the best of Jarred Vanderbilt / Jaden McDaniels with better offense.
If Sensabaugh shows up to the combine down 10-15lb and shows well athletically… he intrigues me. But if he is still 235+ that tells me all I need to know about him, and I’d pass.

This is what happens when you brick open shot after open shot.
long rebound run outs and our defense doesn’t get set.
celtics just about daring everyone not named trae to take a jumper. And it’s working.

An Onyeka/Brooks pairing seems like a great fit.
that’s a shame about Ben. Other than health (mental + physical), I think he would’ve been a perfect compliment to Trae. Hope he can get back to the player he was, but back/nerve issues are never a good sign.

I went with Royce. I could also see Jae. I think Quin probably recognizes we need someone like that - both on and off the court.
-
Not sure why HOU would want Capella given they have Segun. Neither can play the 4. I imagine they ultimately look elsewhere for better fitting pieces should Harden come.

The nets are a dreadful matchup for us as they are currently constructed. Sunday afternoon matchups are typically dreadful for us.
we played maybe a collective 2.5 good quarters. Yet we still won …
with 99% confidence we lose this game with the former coach at the helm.
that is improvement. That’s what I want to see day to day.- 5
Who would be the best partner for Trae on the Hawks in the NBA?
in Homecourt

I get the injury risks involved - but seeing a 1-2 of Trae + MPJ would be fun to watch. Bombs away! Surround those 2 with some quality 3D type guys … good times.
Trae / Hunter / MPJ / DFS / OO
I’ve beaten the Siakam drum for probably 3-4 years now, but he turns 29 soon and will be looking for a 4-5 year max. I have concerns there.
would love mikal, but he isn’t attainable.
