That's, hands down, who I'd pick if I wanted the team to implode.

Say what???? We are obviously on very different ends of the Beverley spectrum.

Again - buying into a role of being a vet that does not get a lot of playing time ... exactly what some of the guys on this team need. Trae would absolutely have to sign off on having someone like this around tho lol.

"Man, he's special," Towns said. "He’s special as a player, as a person. You know? He’s a winner. And he breathes winning and it’s great that his competitive juices fly that much because it pushes you to another level. He’s one of those guys I’ve always seen from afar, you hate to play against him and you would love it if he was your teammate. I couldn’t have been more right. You love playing with him, you hate seeing him on the court against you because he’s such a pest and he’s annoying as hell. He’s one of those dudes. Whatever you say he lacks in size, or he lacks in skill set, or whatever he totally makes it up by being himself and being the energy you need a leader to be." - KAT

"He's been the most influential player in my career so far," Zubac said. "He pushed me to work hard and I learned how to be a true professional."

"It's just the way he works every day," Zubac said. "He's being professional, and it's the way he prepares for the game. Since I got here, he's been pushing me to do the same, to be locked-in and focused." - Zubac

Outside of a handful of players, by all public records that I have heard or read, former teammates have nothing but positive things to say about playing with the guy.

If you had to pick one?

Greg Swartz from Bleacher Report has listed Jevon Carter, Patrick Beverley, and Reggie Jackson as potential targets for the Atlanta Hawks backup PG role. “Atlanta has quietly become one of the deepest teams in the NBA, with two potential All-Stars at guard, a load of wings after the trade for Saddiq Bey and a frontcourt that somehow still features John Collins. The Hawks can't afford to be big spenders in free agency but could use a veteran point guard behind Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.”

If he buys into the role. Pat Bev and it’s not even close for me.

Yeah, I can't see us moving DM other than in a package that is designed to help us win now like a trade that ultimately ends up with Bridges here.  I do have questions about the fit between Trae and DM so I hope Landry is at least exploring the art of the possible even if he isn't actively shopping Dejounte.  (DM wasn't as effective defensively with both of them on the floor as I anticipated and it remains to be seen if the "my turn, your turn" was more a reflection of Nate or of a limitation that prevents them from collaborating more effectively.)

That’s where I am. If Quinn believes he can make it work - I’d like to keep Murray.

if he doesn’t or thinks there is a better fit - then he would support making a move for a win now player … not something that won’t make us better.

Well, you have to remember that Trae makes players better.

    He’d make bridges better too.

Trae - Bridges - Hunter - Collins - OO is a  team that could do some damage, and compliments each other very well.

+ the additional cap space with bridges versus max/super max brown.

Trade proposals for the Rockets’ fourth pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

    Atlanta Hawks

Rockets receive: Dejounte Murray and John Collins

Hawks receive: Kevin Porter Jr., Jae’Sean Tate, K.J. Martin, the No. 4 pick in 2023, 2025 and 2027 first-round picks

    https://theathletic.com/4550522/2023/05/25/rockets-nba-draft-pick-trade-2023/?source=weeklyemail&campaign=602288

Looks loosely like something I mentioned a week or so ago, but that Houston package was getting routed to BKN for Bridges.

  6. Who needs more? Would you do this?

Hawks In: Mikal Bridges / #21

Rockets In: Dejounte Murray / Clint Capela

    Nets In: Kevin Porter Jr. / #15 / 2024 & 2026 BKN FRP / 2025 BKN FRP Swap Back

    Trae / Mikal / Hunter / JC / OO

DJ / Green / #4 or FA? / Bari / Sengun or CC

Dinwiddie / KPJ / Cam / DSJ / Claxton (all aboard the tank with their FRPs back ... although I think this team is sneaky competitive).

I wonder what Trae's real value is if the Hawks struggle to win more so when Dre was out vs  when Trae was out this past year. 🧐

In imaginary land. You build a team around Dre. I build a team around trae. Let me know who does better.

sometimes playing devils advocate is pretty silly.

  8. For our 2nd …

    1) Reece Beekman. Nothing overtly stands out, but watching him … he just seems like he’s going to be a standout backup PG. Tyus Jones archetype. He seems completely capable of running the second unit at a high level with good D. I believe he could have a solid 10+ year career.

    2) Daron Holmes. Didn’t measure “great” for a center. But I think He has enough size/athleticism and good enough hands to be a really steady back up 5 in the league for a long time.

for 2nd rounders that’s all I could ask for. With that said, I really like Reece in our spot.

"Here lies the wretched one.  He was a real one ...."

(I can see them trading $wAG if it nets us a difference-making 5.  Your saving grace may be the fact that there's not really one on the market as far as I can see.)

Honest question  - who is a difference making 5 in the modern NBA?

Embiid and Joker (who aren’t available) and … ?
