  1. I’m guessing we sign 2-3 guys to min contracts (or close to it) to round out the roster.

then around the deadline - we make a trade to skirt in under the LT line. As much talk as there has been about being ok with paying it, I think they want to avoid it 1 more year given the raise Hunter will get after this season.

  2. I hope we sign rife + bo cruz or ibaka

unload harkless at the deadline to get under the LT if we so choose.

    trae / holiday / rife

    murray / bogi / aj

    hunter / holiday / harkless

JC / jauncho or ibaka / JJ

    cap / oo / londale

Don’t want to mortgage even more of the future for KD who may or may not get us there. Could get injured. Could pout and want to leave. Could do anything.

Trading Harkless for a 2nd rounder wouldn't create the full million. Remember that's another roster spot you have to fill. Vet min average is $2 million. So yes it creates some salary but we're going to operate over the LT this year barring another trade.

Are you sure those #s are right? I need to pull it back up, but based on my rough math in my head (which I’m sure is oh so accurate) I was coming out to around the 1.1 from that tweet (including AJ).

Edit: I’ll jump on the computer once the little fella is asleep and stranger things is on then do the actual math.

Marks is wrong....You have to count Griffin's cap hold.  12 under contract but the rookie contract counts even before signed.  1st round selections are holds until the player signs, is traded, or released.

I could be mistaken, but if we get someone to take Harkless. that would give us enough $ to sign Rife + up to~4M and change while staying under the LT?

  5. KVon -

you will absolutely be missed. On and off the court. Best of luck to you. I hope you carry the kings to be the 15th best team in 2024 or 13th in 2025 and you get an opportunity to show your game off sir.

    thanks for the memories.

  6. Initial reaction was not positive. But from a macro view it’s probably fair value. The pick is probably going to convey in the 12-16 range in 2025. So we get a pick back.

Holiday and harkless are both downgrades, but they help round out the bench and it frees us up of a lot of long term salary. Makes sense on the business side.

but agreed with you all - this may be a sign of a follow up move. Bogi + hark + cap + sac pick for gobert?

if there isn’t another follow up move. I’m still ok with it. Good to have more vets in the locker room.  And frees up space in future years.

  7. I just enjoy that there is even a debate over the likely 12th man-type role he will have.

for a vet min - what were the better options again? That were willing to sign here?

he will be solid for the role he was signed to play. Just read about his season in PHX and it seems like he started tapping into more of a playmaker role as his assist #s jumped. Which should make pero happy … isn’t that what you want out of your PGs more than some dynamic scorer?!

But if we go after Bam, than we have to trade OO and I think Miami will not like that

Say what? A front court of bam+oo is elite defense and bam has a jumper. The future is bright with that front line.

with that said. We aren’t getting bam.  Round at the roster and let’s run it as is … I was a Simmons apologist pre-murray. Now he can stay up in BKN.

Edit cause I had to add … trae/murray/Hunter/oo/bam. Lookout …. That’d be fun.

  9. It’s not just either or.

it’s capela or ayton + $5-15M less for other roster spots or gobert + $19M less for other roster spots.

capela fits what we do, is a good locker room presence and a good center. I’ll take him all day - money just confirms my choice that much more.

  10. Put me in the camp that would like to keep JC unless someone offers a deal that we would be dumb to pass up on.

hopefully we can stagger his minutes this year with cap like we will Murray and trae. If he can get 18-20 minutes a night with a guy like OO (who may have a little more range), he would be happier with a likely larger offensive role with the paint not being as clogged when he is on the court. Plus he will always have trae or Dejounte out there to take adv of the PNR. So many options. Is it opening night yet?!

I think if we want to avoid the tax - bogi is the one that ends up going, unfortunately.

Where are all the Squawkers that were having 'the sky is falling' moment last night...oh it's the Falcons/Watson situation.  They were already bringing out the pitchforks for Schlenk. :laugh1:

I 100% was mentally preparing myself for super max level disappointment.
