I'm saying that him being a good shooter would matter more if he was teaching players to shoot rather than picking guys who can. I just think that part is irrelevant to being a gm.
  2. I am am a self proclaimed Marcus Smart hater, but I really would rather have every player I listed. I'm just not a fan of his game.

He's not a coach. Being a good shooter and being able to recognize good shooters aren't the same thing.

    Luke Kennard

Kennard and Bolden would be a fantastic draft. I'd rather have Bolden than pretty much all of the power forwards that would be available at 19.

Great 3 point shooter is a strange qualification for general manager.
  6. The Magic have been rebuilding since Dwight left, let's give them him back. Dwight for Vucevic straight up. Who says no? Besides the Magic of course.
  7. Wiggins, Embiid, Jabari, Jokic, Lavine, Saric, Randle, Payton, Nurkic, Harris, Hood, Clarkson. All but 3 were still on the board when he was taken.
  8. First of all, they wouldn't draft a guy if he new Gm they JUST hired didn't like him. They are interviewing around, by most of the guys being interviewed do show there is a clear vision., and it's assistant gm's who built top 5 teams through the draft. All of these guys already have their draft board I'm sure, and will discuss with The scouts already here and Bud. Hopefully the GM will have the final say. All I've learned from the search is that they are going to look all around to make sure they find the right guy which is the opposite of embarrassing. It shows that the organization is patient and willing to wait for the guy they want rather than try to scoop someone up quick. I'll refer to the hiring of Dan Quinn by the Falcons in February after they had already interviewed all the top names as a great example of how important patience is when hiring top guys in he organization. Don't settle to appease the fan base.
  9. If we are trading for a good player, I want it to be Vucevic. I think he's a similar player to Al and would be an incredible fit here. Orlando might tank, so he could be gettable. I'd be willing to trade Dwight for pretty much anything if we could get our hands on Vuc.
  10. I can see your point, but I also like watching the 3 point shot. As a guy who wasn't big into basketball until the last 5 years, this is what the game is to me. Which is why I think the Hawks have to get rid of Dwight and build around shooters. He's a relic of a different era now.
  11. Good point. We can keep THJ and Ersan for less than it would cost to keep Sap, and hopefully turn that into a good scoring bench in another year or two if we draft good players that can start.
  12. Ressler is about to ask if he can date Portland's owner's wife.
  13. Yeah I know it can work. I guess the real reason I'm hesitant is I can't look at where they have been an assistant gm and point to how good that team was built. So it's the fans that are clueless about what these candidates will do, not the organization. I'd still rather have the guys from the Warriors, Rockets, Thunder, and Celtics before these former players.
  14. Hiring Chauncey Billups could turn out okay, but I don't like it. I'm not a fan of guys who have never worked in a front office going straight to GM. It feels like you are handing a pilots license to a great race car driver. He might be good at playing, but roster building is a lot different. Not that he will be bad, I just don't know. I'm sure all the interviewees are telling them their plan for the franchise, so I guess he wouldn't be hired if they didn't think he knew what he was doing.
  15. The only negative I've seen is he isn't 18 and he wants to play small forward. I don't know how that's a negative. I'm pretty sure he left UCLA because they wouldn't let him play it, but that's not anything that bad.
  16. I didn't know who he was two days ago but now I've fallen in love. As a projected second round pick the ceiling would be almost unheard of there. He's got a perennial All-Star potential, so I would expect him to go too ten or at least in the lottery.
  17. The front office in flux makes me pretty excited. Shakeups at the top always make for a fun offseason as the new guy tries to craft the team his way. I'm hoping for a breaking of the status quo, and I think that this guy would probably want to do that. I do think the Hawks will probably be on track for the lottery next year though which is also exciting because the season becomes less about wins and losses and more about seeing what the young guys can do.
  18. This would be a great hire. Probably the best one on paper of all the guys the Hawks have asked to interview. The Warriors built one of the best teams of all time through the draft. Curry was picked 7th, Klay Thompson 11th, and Draymond Green 35th. Also they got Baze in the second as well as drafting very well for picking last in the first the last few years. They also signed some great free agents like Iguadola before they were a dynasty. I don't know how big of a role the assistant gm had in this, but taking a guy from the team that sets the standard for team building looks great to me.
  19. I love him in 2k. Isn't that enough of a reason to sign him?
  20. This is all I can think of when he is brought up.
  21. He turned 21 in January. Not the youngest of cats, but he'll probably be there in the second round.
  22. Watch out for Jonah Bolden. He's 6'10 with a 7'4 wingspan, is a great athlete, and can shoot. Could be an absolute STEAL at 31 or even at 19.
  23. Swanigan and Morris would be the most Hawksy draft I could imagine.
