  1. I'm mainly addressing this to the Hawks' insiders, but what is happening in practice that isn't happening in the actual games?  From DJ's comments, it sounds like the team is working well together in practice.  What is being changed during the game, and why?  Is he saying that he's allowed to be more of a playmaker in practice, but not during the games?  Has Trae been playing off-ball more in practice?

I’m not sure what is happening in practices that isn’t happening in games.  Not sure if that is weird but it is curious.  You’d think Snyder would be visibly upset if he had someone practicing to do A and then in games they went and did B contrary to his instructions.

Agreed.  Makes no sense why Quin is practicing one thing, but implementing another during the games.  I would really like to hear DJ give more detail on what he was talking about there, although I'm not sure if that will ever be shared in public.

  3. Way too much of an oversimplification.  Snyder wants his players to take open threes when the opportunity presents itself.  The rationale being is that an open three should be a high value shot... analytics have shown that.  It's not worth passing up an open three for a potentially "better" shot, since so many things could change the calculus and ruin the possession... bad pass/dribble for a turnover... allowing the defense to collapse on a drive to the basket for a tough contested two, etc.  I don't think Quin would advocate taking a contested three when there's a wide open two available, however.

I agree with the philosophy, but I've noticed that sometimes the players will still chuck up a bad three even if they're technically open, because they're either off balanced or not set.  Bogi can be real guilty of this.  With how pretty his stroke is, there's no way he should ever be under 40%.  It's certainly a responsibility of the player to be ready to take an open shot, but there will be times when your momentum will make you off-balance, or you don't quite catch the ball cleanly, etc... in those instances, I think it's a poor choice to chuck up the shot even if you're open for that moment in time.  I don't know if Quin is yelling at players if/when this occurs, but I would disagree with him if he is.  I would be surprised if that's the case though.

The rumbling that a Belicheck hire comes with removing Terry Fontenot is what pisses me off the most. The GM has done a phenomenal job navigating Dimitroff's cap hell and rebuilding a roster with talent. The coach failed, but TF never had a say in that hire, and then you let a coaching candidate determine his future? And you potentially lose a respected young GM who did everything you asked of him because BB wants full control? No way, Jose. The first black GM in team history gets treated like this, in a city like Atlanta, and you think the fans are going to rock with it?

Definition of tone def. Falcons are trash if they push Fontenot out the door for Belicheck.

I'm with ya on this one, Red.  That's my greatest fear about a BB hiring as well.  I think TF has done a great job so far, and am really excited to see what another coach can do with the roster he has assembled.  I don't mind having BB as coach if that means TF stays and can still do his job, but I'm really worried that Blank is gonna give BB whatever he wants in order to lure him to the team.  I have no doubt we'll end up in the mud like the current iteration of the Patriots if BB assumes personnel control.  But a BB-coached team with TF as the true GM could end up being really damn strong. **fingers crossed**

Why was Quinn yelling at Bogi on that play? Multiple guys didn't run back on defense.

It happened so quick, but it looked to me that Bogi was the only one that had a chance to get between Okoro and the basket, but didn't even make an attempt to do so.... and turning it over on the very next play didn't exactly help either.

Finally the Siakam saga is done.. good riddance

Basically that is more expensive than the Murray trade so I don’t wanna see sh** from some posters here about overspending to the spurs

Protections on the two Indy picks will determine what the actual value is.  But if they're unprotected, then I would agree with you... I would be extremely surprised if that's the case though.

my guess: we get the picks, tank the rest of this season and use the picks in the offseason to bring in someone.

Is the current iteration of the trade at least better than the initial one you guys were hearing?  If they made a big stink about so many teams being interested and then end dealing DM for junk, I'm going to be extremely irritated at this FO.

ESPN and Hawks app show 6 fouls.

This is on Quin, he should recognize that JJ was playing defense to not foul. That's where OO in lieu of CC would have been helpful in OT, particularly with how OO played him all game.

Sticking with the starters just because is fool hardy.

I stick up for Quin as much as anybody, but for the life of me I can't understand why he didn't play OO more to close out the 4th or in OT.  If the opposing team has a center with size that OO cannot handle, then I get it, but that was not the case with Orlando.  OO was playing great, and I agree, could have made life much more difficult on Paolo than JJ having to play soft due to foul trouble.

It's already been established that Trae doesn't want to mess up his long range shooting %.

He made that one, but why mess up his shot% on an attempt that most people can only make like 10% of the time.

Because it's not about personal stats, but about trying to win the game?  There's zero downside of trying to chuck up a shot before the buzzer sounds.  To be fair, as KG stated, a lot of players choose not to put that shot up... not just Trae.  It's a minor point, but one that annoys the hell out of me.

I’ll hold out hope for something Trey Murphy + 2027 MIL FRP. 100% prepared for less of a return than that.

@Sothron did mention talks with NOP not too long ago that were centered around DJ and T.Murphy/H.Jones.  Soth, can you blink twice for us is this is the backbone of the deal being discussed now?
