Official Game Thread: Hawks at Bulls -- Play-In Game 1 of X!
givemesome1ce1 replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
Trae was terrible (but a lot could be excused by the injury) he got better as the game went on but was still horrid. Dejounte had a great first half but was Coby White completely cooked him on defense. Bogi was terrible on defense, but had a decent offensive game. Capela was getting cooked on defense, but he had an okay offensive game. Hunter may have been the worst player in this game. Hunter showed literally no physicality on defense and was garbage. Absolute no show. Wes Matthews and Garrison Matthews should not be our best perimeter defenders tonight. But overall….Good loss for the Hawks. This is the loss that will finally make them wake up and realize what they need to do. It’s been obvious for years that this roster needed a shake-up. Trae and Dejounte simply DO NOT WORK AT ALL! Every line up that involve Trae and Dejounte together is terrible (except when Bogi is involved). Time to trade Dejounte so he can flourish somewhere else and we can have a shooting guard that plays actual defense. Time to move on from Hunter because it’s clearly obvious that he can not handle any amount starter minutes and I would rather Bogi who’s been a way better impact on the bench than Dre ever been in his career. Heck, even Bogi can go for the right price because his health is waning and his defense is awful despite his incredible offensive value to this team. Time to do the right thing AND BUILD AROUND TRAE AND JALEN! Get a wing that shoots and defends AND LETS GO!!- 373 replies

Official Game Thread: Hornets at Hawks -- The Home Finale!
givemesome1ce1 replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
You know it’s funny to see people in this thread say and support that we just have to worry about next season and basically forget about whatever happens in the play-in. When I said that literally a month and a half ago, I got so much flak and now I got people agreeing with me lol. Anyway, I’m fine with the hawks punting this game. There are people that are probably mad that the hawks lost to the hornets again but considering that the hawks are trying to get into the playoffs, all of their guys need all of the rest they can get. The 9th-10th seed match up has been set for weeks, so I’m fine with just punting the last few games. We were always gonna be below .500, never gonna be above 8th at best. We just blew too many opportunity because of either poor play, injuries, and other factors. It’s a shame but it is what is.- 190 replies

The game was basically over when UConn literally ran pick n roll four straight times and Edey looked absolutely lost. I can’t have my center doing that. He could be a back-up but not here. I would rather have Clingan who did a really great job as the game went on. I would love to get Clingan on this team but sadly he may be drafted too high for us at this point.

you got to keep Vit on this team. He’s becoming a better shooter AND a better defender. Literally one of the main reasons why this offense is where it’s at right now. He’s so good it’s unbelievable

Official Game Thread: Celtics at Hawks (Monday)

I said it before and I’ll say it again. It is crazy how good the defense could be when we play only ONE SMALL GUARD at a time instead of two for majority of the game. Yet for some reason people still want to act like Trae is the biggest problem with this defense. If we run a normal guard rotation with Trae, this team probably is a lot better on defense. I dont understand why so many people don’t get this. Look at the numbers AND the eye test proves it.- 346 replies

I still believe if I want a center in this draft…it would be Messi or Clingan. He’s just too slow for me and he really doesn’t have any actual moves other than going to the rim (I don’t care about videos that show him shooting doing pull ups and stuff for the draft, we all know that literally doesn’t matter when it’s literally the in game stuff that matters). He wouldn’t fit Quin’s system which needs mobile big man play. I think some people see 7’4 and think instant fit and the reality is that it probably won’t be that way for this team.

Coach Mike Brey: Talks State of the Hawks and plan for next season
givemesome1ce1 replied to JayBirdHawk's topic in Homecourt
People don’t want to admit this…but Murray is starting to look more and more like a 6th man that should come of the bench. Stats showing Murray going down like this despite him being in his prime is not good at all. I know everyone keeps saying “we gotta wait to see if we can get good value for Dejounte!” But that’s how the hawks FO got John Collins’s value so low to begin with because the hawks front office kept waiting and waiting for an offer that never came. We don’t have the assets to trade for another front court player unless we A. Trade Dejounte and or B. Trade our young players (which we don’t want to do considering how hyped some of them are). At this point the hawks need to just take the L and move on, trade Dejounte and get it over with. The Trae and Dejounte backcourt will never work unless either of them becomes significantly taller or becomes way better defenders. That’s not happening anytime soon.
