Pie in the face… this trade would essentially be the front office admitting failure with our 2022 1st pick and the riskiest trade in many years for the Hawks.
This makes me nervous. No rumored deal suggests any team has to be “all in” to pull the trigger. “All in” means giving up substantial value. It implies risk. Please just focus on AJ, Capela, etc., trades.
Would it be possible to get Grimes (or Okoro) and Wright? We also need a BU 4. Our PLAYOFF rotation would be…
Trae | Wright
Murray | Bogi
Hunter | Grimes
Johnson | ???
Capela | Okongwu
Wait a second… You mean the Hawks wouldn’t rather take on someone’s trash in order to improve the opposing team’s chance of success? No way… I don’t believe it. They must think the Hawks are a 2 on the Enneagram.
Trae/Herb/Murph/JJ/Claxton with Bogi/OO off the bench
Move Hunter (pick?) for Claxton/Royce
Bey/Capela for picks and maybe a big to send to Brooklyn
AJ for Grimes
Pick up Lowry (if he is available)
Trae/Lowry/Mills
Herb/Bogi/Kobe
Murph/Grimes
JJ/Royce
Claxton/OO
RES: Wes/GMat/Gueye/Lundy
This is the idea… otherwise, why did we draft him just outside the lottery? In other words, why draft a player high that doesn’t at least have the potential to be a + starter?
Keyonte George is an interesting prospect. We could do worse than him and two 1sts if it came to it. Not saying I want to take that deal — just that it seems better than the others.
I’m passing on this deal. I want a premium asset for DJ. Claxton is a solid asset — not a premium one, especially with uncertainty regarding signing him to a fair deal.
