  1. from The Athletic Kawakami: The Warriors need to make changes; here’s a guide to what could happen now - The Athletic • It’d probably be an upset if Andrew Wiggins is still with the Warriors after Feb. 8. He remains a popular member of the team and nobody will ever forget what he did to help them to the 2022 title. But his game just has fallen off a cliff from the start of this season; this whole Jenga puzzle broke apart when the established starting lineup staggered out of the gate this season and nobody’s more responsible for that than Wiggins. Also, the Warriors’ payroll would look a lot better if they could move the $84.6 million he’s owed over the next three seasons. Would Dunleavy and Lacob sign off on adding Moses Moody to the deal just to get a team to take Wiggins’ salary? Would it take adding a future first-round pick? I doubt the Warriors want to subtract talent just to discard Wiggins, but it might come to that. • Wait, they could trade from their group of young players when the Warriors need to get younger? Yes, I think that’s possible because there are likely no stars here. The Warriors’ youth wave has helped at times this season, but it seems clear that Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis are, at least for now and maybe into the future, mostly complementary pieces. The Warriors will want to keep most of them, but they don’t need to keep all of them.
  2. His value long-term contract means he is worth more now than he was when Hawks gambled/overpaid for shorter-term control.
  3. Seems to me that if to The Knicks is where he goes then he may have got an agreement to say where he can get traded when he signed that extension - thus reducing the trade worth to the Hawks, and another example of terrible GM-management of the team's resources when they overpaid to get him. I expect the info Sothron will provide after the trade may be related to something like this.
  4. I would also want Alvarado included. I admit to not knowing how good the other young players mentioned here are.
  5. Just want to point out that I wanted the Hawks to draft Halliburton - knew he would be great. - He lasted until 12th pick in 2020 draft. Hawks took Okongwu at 6.
  6. Dejounte's reaction (and proof I learned from above helpful post) and The Athletic Bounce coverage "Only Hawks Fans" is too hot for Twitter Have you heard of Only Fans? Whoa, that’s a weird question to ask by work email. If, um, you haven’t heard of it, let’s make sure you’re not searching what it is on any work devices — maybe enact some incognito mode. We'll call it, uhh … a social media platform? One in which many people are paid to be naked or otherwise. What does that have to do with the Atlanta Hawks? I’m glad you asked! Yesterday, their social media team posted a hilarious video spoofing one of those 976 number commercials from the '90s, but its premise had an Only Hawks Fans slant. We had the Harry the Hawk mascot on a bed, being … sensual? I guess. All the while, it was a promotion for the In-Season Tournament. I laughed and thought it was well done. It became even funnier that I found out about this video because Hawks guard Dejounte Murray quote-tweeted it with: “MANNNNNNN DELETE THIS S***!!!!!!!” We live in a very progressive and open society, Dejounte. But we must be fair. Maybe it was inappropriate. So, I watched it again and went to the website they made for this (don’t worry; it’s safe). To be fair to Dejounte, he’s in the site’s promo picture, and I saw the Hawks are giving away a commemorative ticket and the blandest In-Season Tournament T-shirt imaginable for their two home games of group play. However, I watched the video again and still laughed when they whispered, “Hot five-on-five action,” at the end. Sorry, Dejounte. This should not be deleted. And where were you when the NBA announced a Skims partnership? Thankfully, this didn’t distract the Hawks in Mexico City, where they beat Orlando 120-119. Trae Young had 41 points, and Murray scored 16.
  7. NBA channel using the crap Orlando announcers made this not seem very 'national' at all. I thought the channel might send their own team down for this one - and no Lauren in the studio. Boo. Hate that the NBA League Pass forces me to watch the home team broadcast when on the NBA channel.
  8. Just realized I don't know how to insert xeets/tweets on this forum - Trae's response to the Hawks video above.
  9. Apparently KAT had a much better game in a win against Denver last night, and was guarding Joker.
  10. copying this here For those with a The Athletic subscription, the comments from Twolves fans in this article about their collapse, are all ready to trade KAT regardless of any return. (They still have a beat writer, unlike the Hawks.) Anatomy of another Timberwolves meltdown: Anthony Edwards, KAT, Chris Finch and a bad loss - The Athletic

  12. I am in the keep JJ corner. (saw him included as a trade piece in a post above)
  13. No AJ or JJ - Hunter and Bufkin or walk away
  14. Well I really learned something from that post and appreciate thecampster going to the trouble.
  15. Team Kat (also note my first forum post, earlier in this thread, was not a grovel for updated info or anything like that (Rather a story about winning Hawks season tickets during the Hubie / John Drew era.)
  16. New member, just joined, wanted to say thank you to all the contributors that make these insider threads and this forum so interesting and entertaining. I tried to join several times in past, always got an error and any emails I sent went unanswered (as I recall). Been lurking for years, now retired, so around even more. When I lived in Atlanta, I once was attending a game on my then-wife's corporate seats, entered a drawing for season tickets, then a week or 2 later, I was again at a game in those comped seats when the barrel was rolled out to half-court and my entry was pulled out - winning me season tickets in the Omni. My brother had just gone for beers and was heading back down to our seats when he saw me at midcourt receiving the prize and wondered: What the Hell? This was during the 79-80 season, as I recall, or maybe 80-81 - Coach Hubie Brown, assistant Fratello, scorer John Drew, Tree Rollins, Dan Roundfield, Eddie Johnson, Charlie Criss. etc. Unfortunately, poor record, Hubie fired, but I lived 5 minutes away so it was easy to head over to games after work. Glad to finally be a member here! mj.
