  1. What do you guys think about this deal? Hawks #1(Bogut) and Harrington for last year's #1 pick Dwight Howard? Howard would improve our defense. DH would be a great addition to Chill, Smooth and Lue. Would Orlando do it?
  2. Kwame played 40 minutes and got to the free throw line zero times. That's too soft for a big man.
  3. I think we can forget getting the Lakers pick this year. The Lakers's remaining schedule is a lot tougher than Denver's. LA has 10 home games and 15 road games. Denver has 15 home games and only 9 road games. Since the Lakers don't play well on the road and Denver wins at home, it don't look like LA can make the playoffs. Not only do the Lakers have more road games, many of them are against good home teams: Spurs, Suns, Sonics, Kings, Mavs, Heat, Grizzlies, Wizards & Nuggets. Meanwhile, Denver has a much easier ride. Their only tough road games are at the Suns (twice), Spurs & Grizzlies. It's not gonna happen this year unless Kobe goes absolutely berserk.
  4. Walker is so good that he lead Atlanta to the worst record in the entire NBA.
  5. The Hawks now have a 2 game lead in the race for worst record in the NBA. That's a good thing.
  6. 2005 will now been known as.. The begining of the Tom Gugliotta era
  7. ANY Walker trade for a 1st and cap relief is a good one.
  8. We thumped the Nets on the boards 46-35. That's good to see. If the Nets don't go 7-11 from 3pt land, we win this game.
  9. We are competitve on the boards tonight. Josh Smith is really starting to help. But there's still a problem area Hawks Centers Drob/Collier have only 2 defensive boards in 32 minutes. That's way below NBA standards!! OUR ROSTER HAS A CENTER PROBLEM. ONE OF THOSE TWO HAS TO GO.
  10. 3-14 teams need talent and youth much more than they need inspiration from 42-year old centers. We're not good. We're winning 17% of our games. Forget trying to improve from 17% to 22% winners by making bad players perform a little better. Instead, we simply must get some better players. Kevin Willis is a wasted roster spot! KW adds nothing to our future and prevents us from using his spot to audition future talent. I love the guy, but it's true. Period.
  11. don't forget it was BK's trade of Rasheed Wallace that got us the draft pick for Josh Smith Kudos' to BK! Let's do it again at this year's trading deadline.
  12. Even if JB doesn't work out, the thing is.... We should be looking at YOUNG players instead of 42-year old players. If JB doesn't work out, then we'll bring in another young rebounder. It that guy doesn't work out, then we'll bring in another young CBA guy. We can't waste a roster spot on 42-year old Kevin Willis. Now don't get me wrong. I love KW! I love Kevin for what he did for us in the days of Nique & Doc. I'll always remember him as a board warrior with the heart of a champion. But those days are gone. We need to evaluate young, improving talent. Period. No point in wasting a roster spot with KW that could go to a young gun rebounder. That's the way I see it.
  13. Jackie Butler is the high school PF we were hoping to bring into camp this year. He's now playing in the CBA. Butler is 6'10" 260, is strong and can really wipe the boards. http://tinyurl.com/6kp6l http://tinyurl.com/62nye I say give Kevin Willis a handshake and a smile and send him on his way and replace him with this kid. In a couple years, he could be a force in this league.
  14. I don't think we'd want to pay Tariq Abdul-Wahad 7 million to be a backup or hang out on the injured list. This guy is always hurt. Checkout Royal Ivey's stats..they are near the same as Harris. Here's a link that shows Ivey ahead of Harris. http://tinyurl.com/5ugtu Tariq Abdul-Wahad is signed until 2006 with a bad contract. I wouldn't mind having Harris at point. Not at all. But not at the expense of taking on a bad contract and losing Diaw. cheers,
  15. I don't think the Boston Celtics or the Dallas Mavericks agree with that. Why has AW been traded twice in the past couple years?
  16. mule said, "Walker can hit the three, but not free throws? Maybe we could ask that he take his foul shots from beyond the circle instead of from the line." lmao at that one!
  17. I'm all for releasing Kenny Anderson and signig Troy Bell. We also have a problem a center. Drobs and Collier are both soft defenders. We can't have 2 softies in the middle on the same team. One of them has to be let go and replaced with a defender.
  18. Just a little good-natured ribbing What are you doing watching TV from 1am-6am? Don't you have a job? :>)
  19. During the 2004 draft, Dallas traded a future 1st to Utah for Pavel Podkolzine. I believe there is an NBA rule that prohibits trading 1st round picks 2 years in a row.
  20. WowoWowoW 3-3 shooting with 3 boards and 2 assists. All in only 7 minutes! Nice start Chilla!!
  21. another bad Diesel trade. Grant is done. He has 3 more years on his terrible contract, but he can't play much anymore. You really wanna pay Grant 14 Million in 2005 and 15 Million 2006??? Holy Schnikes! That would kill our salary cap flexibility, which is our greatest asset. Rush can shoot the 3 real well, but he isn't good enough to start at the 2 or 3. Too many turnovers, can't dribble, suspect defense. I think Butler has some game but he doesn't rebound much. We really don't need another SF. Butler would only take away minutes from Josh Smith/Al Harrington btw..who would we cut to clear a roster space?? ---------------------------------------------------- I'm watching you Diesel. Always watching. THE DIESEL MONITOR
  22. Completely agree Iman. One of the keys to getting more draft picks is keeping cap space available for making trades. If we can use cap space to grab a pick or two at the trading dealine, it makes all the difference. Last year we added Josh Smith to the team by making one of those deals. At this point, I think we have a better chance of getting a superstar by landing a top 3 draft pick than via sign or trade.
  23. I stand by my original assessment. It is time to play the kids as much as possible. Royal Ivey, Josh Smith, Josh Childress, Donta Smith, Al Harrington. We need to find out what these kids can do I understand that this must be very painful for some to stomach. Very painful indeed. It would probably result in a couple of horrible 15-25 win seasons. Pain aside, it is the right thing to do. It would give us a couple of very high draft choices. It would give us great insight into the talents of the kids. When it comes time to decide whether to resign them or let them go, we'll be able to make a better informed decision. It's no use to try and make the playoffs with a team that has no chance to win a championship. We've been down that road before and we know exactly where it leads. We were at that point last year which is precisely why Billy Knight decided to rebuild.
