Nobody wants to see this team in the postseason. They stood toe to toe against the Celtics. The East has been put on notice.

Two best games of the year in the same week??? Get DJ some rest even they have to punt the next game. I would love to see them take it to the Bucks though. I wouldn't be mad either way.

Too many guys standing around and watching. Can't be afraid of the moment. This has been an issue for a while.

Celtics are experiencing death by middy. DJ is sautéing these guys.

Hawks looked a little tired in the 4th. Just hold on for five more minutes.

Please just get one more stop. Just one.

Dre with 2 missed freethrows...noooo
I gotta call it what it is. A choke. Still time to make it up though.

Trading DJ for what was offered during the deadline would've been a travesty. Do NOT give him away!!!!

I figured out who Scoot is.
He's Haywood Workman 2.0.
I feel bad for Scoot. He looks like he lost his mojo. He looked like a can't miss prospect with the Ignite. Having a Trae Young like rookie year at PG isn't normal though. He just needs time.

Windler is kind of impressive so far.

Kinda wanting to see Scoot have a good game even if they get blown out.

I'm hoping Trae doesn't rush back. For one, he should get completely healthy first. Secondly, at whatever point they lose, be it play-in or playoffs, his return (if he does) is going to be blamed for it and I don't know if I can stomach that stupidity.

Ok you want make Trae the center of the universe and every decision is first and foremost, what does this player do for Trae? Ok go right ahead. To me that's not worth it. Im willing to bet the overwhelming majority of NBA general managers would think that's not worth it either.
I'm willing to bet most GMs would do whatever it takes to add an NBA Championship to their resume'. If you have a guy that can get you a Championship, you build around him. The Hawks have the advantage of having done it before with immediate results.

That's kind of my argument. Maybe DJ isn't quite as good as Trae, but maybe he's not as limiting either. It seems like getting the fit right around Trae isn't easy. We need a certain type of center, a certain type of wing, etc. I'm not just not sure Trae is worth that type of all encompassing roster construction where every decision has him in mind. If the right Trae trade is out there, and that's a big if of course, I would strongly consider it.
So, we have a player on the roster that can take this team to the Finals with the right pieces around him, but it's not worth it because that player happens to be Trae Young??? What? The Hawks were a Trae ankle injury away from being in the Finals. Milwaukee had no answer for him, and the Suns certainly would have had no answer for him.

Here's how I see it. I can win a title with Trae if I got the right pieces that fit Trae.
I know I can't with Murray unless he's just one of the right pieces. Because of that, Murray is a lot more open than Trae is. Sure, give me Devin Booker but otherwise, naw. I really want Ant Man.
You build with a guy like DJ, but you build around Trae. The Hawks did it in '20-'21 and the results were immediate. The Hawks were not a super team by any means. Heck, the guys they put around him weren't even All Stars. There's no reason that can't be duplicated. For some reason, management completely abandoned what worked.

I hope he stays.. Our role players wont be happy if he's moved..
I'd honestly rather keep him over Trae..
Fixed. Just say that. You've been hinting at it nonstop every time the Hawks win a game without Trae. Just let it out man.
And no, I'd still much rather keep Trae. My memory isn't that short. I love DJ but he isn't on Trae Young's level. The Hawks saw enough from Trae in year two to at least attempt to build a team around him. Pop didn't even consider doing the same with DJ, even after his All Star season. Again, that's not a knock on DJ, but there's no question who I'd build a team around.

Nique made a great point about how Vit sparked the comeback. He's a steal if he can consistently knock down shots. He's the type of glue guy every decent team needs off the bench. Very versatile game.

The Hawks are a VERY dangerous team. The Clippers AND the Celtics while being decimated by injuries? Nobody wants to see these guys at full strength in the Play In or the Playoffs. This is the BEST win of the season and well earned.

It doesn't look like the Hawks are running much of an offense.
