  1. I agree with you on his offensive post game...However, in the NBA as a big...he's more likely to contribute as a defensive rebounder/post defender/shot blocker...They aren't gonna consistently toss the ball inside to a rookie and "watch him work"...offensively he's got alot to learn...he has the tools no doubt...I think he'll be a great option on the offensive block real soon...maybe even in the latter part of his rookie season...But, right away, he'll be a defensive presense in the post and on the boards
  2. I think his ultimate meaning is yet to be determined... However, immediately I think he helps in the area the Hawks lack most... Defensive Rebounding and Post Defense.. Our presence there was basically non-existent and I think he helps in those areas immediately. Eventually(maybe even later in his 1st season) he gives us some offense on the block...but, that will take a little time. He needs to be Dennis Rodman for us...that's what we need him to be!
  3. You've got to be getting??? I think this board is being Punk'd??? You want to give up all those quality player...and for what Odom- Good player but fragile, not better then Marvin even right now Head- Combo guard, not a point guard...So, you wanna trade a quality (cheap) Big for a backup combo guard??? Matt Barnes- Needs to stay in Golden State, he a great fit for Nellie's system...he bounced all over the place before that.
  4. That's the word I got from a friend that works for Apple...i love gadgets so i couldn't wait for the next one...he begged me to wait. He said the next one will be better in terms of internet speed and MMS etc. Also AT&T got exclusive rights to it for the 1st 6 months...most every other major carrier will have it after that.
  5. No way Lenny comes back here...I just don't see it??? What's the connection between Belkin and Lenny? Marvin/Lue for Ridnour/Wilcox would have been a horrible deal for ATL... Mark my words...Marvin will be a 20/8 player in the NBA for a long, long time...I just hope he's wearing a Hawk uniform.
  6. No...and, there's a newer improved version due out in a couple of months... Internet is really, really slow...there's NO MMS...etc. etc.... I say wait for the improved version.
  7. Dude, you can kill the name calling... And again, your points are way off...Destroying a team isn't easy...getting someone to take your bad contracts is not easy (ask Isiah Thomas). Those names that you gave are player that, at most, are only marginally better then the players he drafted...Deng Iguodala Or he passed on a player that plays the same position as our only all-star and one who plays 40 mins a night (Roy) And, I'm not even going to mention Yi...he hasn't even played one single game. As far as Lo and Speedy...News flash Diesel...Free Agents aren't jumping at that opportunity to come here...Neither was his first choice.. I think he's done a good job in most circumstances at drafting and Free Agency...Marvin is the wild card...if he's a star...BK will be a genius...if he's a dud...BK is an idiot for not taking Deron Williams(already a star) and Chris Paul(well on the way)... Stay tuned Diesel
  8. Half of the stuff that guy wrote was off...Avery Johnson??? He meant Anthony Johnson...2 years left on Amare's Deal??? Amare has 4 years left on his max deal. To quote Vecsey is a waste of time IMO. I don't agree with everything BK has done in his tenure thus far...and I'm sure he'd admit to making some mistakes himself. However, he inherited a really, really bad roster with a bunch of bad salaries...he was able to purge them all while trying to assemble championship pieces...not easy to do...not to mention doing it with an ownership that has handcuffed him in ways none of us will ever truly know about. I think he's put this team in a position to be contenders year after year...and we have more tradeable assests then just about any other team in the league...that's leverage to go out and barter for what you need to fill out the roster.. Things are still incomplete in terms of a grade for BK and the biggest reason is Marvin. If Marvin turns out to be the player that just about every executive in the league thought he'd be...Then you can't fault BK for taking him over Deron Williams and Chris Paul...If he doesn't and he's a bust...then that move is the only one IMO that will truly haunt him as a decision maker.

    Darko Time

I only recognize about 2 or 3 of those summer league names??? Where in the heck did they come up with those guys?
  10. It's not always about talent when the player is unrestricted... One: It's a way to get the player more money and more years. Two: Cancel out other teams that are vying for their services also... Three: It would allow the team to get something in return as opposed to just letting them walk and getting no compensation. It's not just about "giving away" talent... In the Hawks case we have somewhat of a glut and a two for one for Darko while matching the salaries would be Great...I'd ZaZa and AJ for Darko and sign him to maybe a 5yr/30mil deal (6 mil avg. per) Replace one seven footer with a much better one while also unloading one of the pg's that must be moved anyway. Thoughts?

    Darko???

Real GM is reporting that Rashard Lewis had agreed to sign with Orlando and as a result they will allow Darko to become and unrestricted FA!!! He'd be a great get for the post...I wonder if they'd be willing to work out a sign and trade??? If so: What kind of deal could we put together...I'm thinking something centered around Shelden or ZaZa...I'm sure they want a Big back??? What's the consensus?
  12. LOL... That's pretty funny actually...no disrespect intended...I've seen other posts that were similar to mine in response to things you've written that didn't illicit that kind of response... But, do what you must Diesel p.s. Don Mac was a beast...does look fruity in that pic though...must admit.
  13. I may not be the most knowledgeable b-ball man as I'm an ex pro footballer... But, I believe that to be the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board... And the only other stuff that even comes close was written by you as well.
  14. I think that's the dumbest thing I ever read on this board!
  15. For all of the Falcon Fans here: Check out their new website!!! I think it's really, really nice. Very well done!!! Falcons Homepage
  16. The Owner: Paul Allen!!! Just the Co-Founder of Microsoft and one of the riches men in the entire world!
  17. Shelden will be a good player...maybe like 10 and 10 But AL Horford is like Karl Malone! Book It. He's a winner, he understands the game...and he's very athletic as well. Much more so then Shelden. I like Shelden and AL on the floor together... They are anything but mirrors of one another Now, Shelden may be traded...Shelden and just about every other player on the Hawks roster is VALUABLE...u can get something for him...wether it be to pick up a draft pick or fill out the roster. The Hawks have more bargaining chips then just about any other team in the league...Therefore you always have options to help finalize your roster.
  18. I think we need to dump some salary and get a VET pass first PG that can make an open shot on ball rotation or out of a double team. With that said...what trade or free agent options do we have?
  19. Positions don't matter... Skill sets matter more then positions do Magic Johnson was a very skilled passer and ball handler so that's what he did for his team on the floor...he was taller then both his "shoot guard" and "small forward" but they didn't have the passing skills he did! It's about what you bring to the table...what your skill set is...I've stood next to Ben Wallace...I'm 6'4" and he's not THAT MUCH taller then me...but, he's got the skill set to center or post position on the floor. Skill Sets Folks...that's what it's about! Playstation or No Playstation!
  20. Lorenzen Wright is #42 So, I don't think they'll be retiring that number for Kevin Willis...I don't think he deserves that sort of honor anyway The reason Smoove isn't wearing it is because the year he was drafted he originally chose 42 then we signed Kevin Willis to be a back up Center and he gave the number to him and took #5 instead.
  21. Some are already touting the 2008 draft as the "Year of the PG" somewhat like the Marvin Williams draft year... O.J. Mayo Derrick Rose Ty Lawson Are the top three... If for some reason(and I think Acie Law IV will be a very good pg) Law doesen't work out...we've got the pieces to move up into the lottery next year and maybe get that long awaited PG??? I think the only "big time" center prospect next year is Hibbert...and maybe the kids from Stanford and Florida.
  22. The Press Conference has been put off until Monday...which is after the 1st... I wonder is something is still in the works here?? I know BK said we'd be keeping the picks...but, if so, then why no press conference Today?
  23. Is a PG Period. But, above that he's a winner! He did WHATEVER he had to do to win ball games in college. In most of the games I saw he was a floor general...playing good D and setting up his teammates...His supporting cast wasn't as strong so the assists numbers weren't always there(had many games with double digit assists though)...At the end of games he would will his team to wins while scoring about 1/3 of his points!! The only thing Acie and Salim have in common is they shoot left handed from outside. THAT'S IT! Acie has good size...he's a good and willing defender and he's what you need most at PG...A Leader!!! Great Pick for the Hawks to follow up another great pick!! AL Horford...he's gonna make alot of people eat crow...You can't really look at his stats as much on a team like Florida IMO...They had 3 players picked in the first 9! Nobody was going to have off the chart stats on that team...If i'm not mistaken they all averaged between 12 and 14ppg??? AL by his teammates admission was the BEST player on the team...Like Acie he did what he had to do to wing games at Florida...which on most nights for him that meant dirty work on offense and defense...In the National Championship game he was the 2nd best player on the floor 18 and 12 that night I believe??? People with think twice about cruising down the lane now(what the hawks need)...He is the best low post defender in the draft(what the hawks need)...He's got an alreay pretty good and still developing post game and he's pretty good to about 17 feet...He and ZaZa will make a great tandem at CENTER in the East It's seems as though the Hawks had to keep their picks and In doing so they got the two best players for what they need!!! I give BK and A+..he got two of the most NBA ready guys...high character guys...high basketball IQ guys...leaders...and winners the draft had to offer We all wanted a veteran big-time move and we may still get it??? It's a long summer.
  24. ESPN is reporting that he's headed to GS or JRich??? MJ is trying to get the 'Cats into the playoffs next year. If they re-sign Wallace and stay healthy in the front court.... Looks like they're on the rise up there. P.S. I Think we hand an outstanding draft.... Remember I said that Acie Law will be a STEAL and Al Horford is already a BEAST!!!
  25. Picks In Play : NBA sources say that as of this morning the #3, the #5 and several picks in the bottom of the first round are available. Yi Jianlian is rumored to be going number three, but not to Atlanta. The Hawks are expected to draft Yi and trade him off later for a later pick and possibly future compensation. If the Hawks do indeed keep the pick - because there is a real discussion taking place with the Hawks and the Suns - that could involve Yi and Marvin Williams heading to Phoenix in a Shawn Marion deal. Hawks sources say there are about 25 different scenarios being tossed around, but the Hawks actually keeping the player they draft at number 3 seems slim. If this is the case? What team/teams covet Yi most? And, who would/could/should we get from them?
