Keep in mind that in the playoffs, everyone is going up against a good team. It is unreasonable to expect every star player to go nuts against teams with other stars, every game.

Josh Smith is a great weak-side defender, but sometimes has a hard time with the guys he is matched up with.

Plenty of 4 year players drop in the draft, I don't see anyone trading up ahead of us for Law.

It doesn't matter what compelling arguments may exist for rigging the draft, the fact is that it is impossible. There are too many professional hands on the project. The reason it isn't televised is because it isn't fan-friendly, no one wants to watch an accounting team checking through every calculation before ok'ing the process.

The lottery is audited by a team lead by a managing director from Ernst & Young, there's no chance that it is rigged. There are too many hands on the process for it not to get out, and everyone has far too much to lose to risk cheating.

There's no way that either of those guys would have dropped to the second round with last year's group of players based on what they showed this year. Also, while Salim is a great gunner off the bench, he hasn't shown the ability to play any semblance of defense, handle the ball proficiently or create for others. His character concerns definitely hurt him, but that isn't the only reason he dropped to the second round.

Chris Ellis only played 20 minutes a game at Wake as a senior, and averaged just over 5 points anr 4 boards a game. He has an above average 3-point shot for a big man, but fell in love with it and would rarely enter the post. He has the genes but never developed the skillset required for a big man in college, much less in the NBA.
