I like Toine But he cant resurect the franchise. We can get Artest and a 1st for him, or something else. I think its worthwhile because we wont be ablke to capitalize on the Cap room that TOine's contract will provide. Get Artest while his market value is low. We can load Kwame Brown and the #1 Pick and suddenly we are close to a winner Kwame/J.Smooth/Harrington/Artest/Chris Paul (or Jarrett Jack) I see a winner.

In just a year, we moved Cap room. Added Harrington, J.Smooth and Artest, plus with no A.Walker around the 1st pick or at least a top 3 pick is ours. We can add a qaulity Point gaurd, and withthe cap room we can find a way to get a young shotblocking center. Possibly D.Howard in 3 years. Knight doesnt trade away picks thinking lets win 40 games this year. He is a stable methodical executive. He built the Grizzlies and now he is building the Hawks, the right way, taking advantage of good situations and making smart draft picks.

I am kinda wondering about that too PM Dawn was the lamest ----- in Rap back in the day. Not to mention his shitlocks.

I expect 2 more years of high picks then we will start winning seemingly out of no where but by his 3rd season JSmooth will be the type of player AMare Stodamire is. We will be a contender by then.

Any trade that involves us giving up a draft pick is a no go for me. Remember how we sqaundered top picks on Glen Robinson and Lorenzen Wright. I think we should build the right way with smart draft picks. Like J.Smooth.

Why are there sooo many complaints about this team losing. It like my prays have finally been answered. How did the spurs get good #1 Pick, Bulls years of thop 5 picks, The list goes on. We will finally lose enough to have a shot at a #1 pick and within 2 years will be the youngest most talented team in the league. THink J. Smoove, Chill ( I thought he would be a washout but he isnt bad), Harrington, Diaw we at least have role players a future All Star (Harrington) and a future Superstar (Smooth) Remember the 1st year the Pacer gave J.Oneal real PT his number where not even as good as Harrington's

Now that we are no longer wasting time trying to make the playoffs. And now that we ran Pete Babcock out, Billy Knight has us 2 years from a Division championship. And 3 years from a East championship. Imagine Smith/Harrington/Childress A Center drafted in the top 3 and a Point Gaurd drafted in the top 5. With Diaw off the bench and plenty of cap room to get star backups.

Every time I post in regard to rebuilding the team I make recommendations for the next 3 years. GM's plan as much as 4 to 5 years in advance. Many posters here make plans for three weeks to a champion. LOL. I would like to hear what you feel this franchise should do in the next 2 to 3 years to become a champion.

The economy is collapsing because the Bush Administration has shown no fiscal discipline. Instead of investing in education, infrastructure, research in the basic sciences, and renewable energy. The US waste its money on war and nonwroking weapons systems.

Walker is what Glenn "Big Dog" aka "Big Fraud" Robinson could have been if he did anything other than shoot. Walker could put up some good numbers. But I dont see him as much more than filler for this team while they are developing. I cant see him in Atlanta long term.

Childress looks good to me because I thought he was the sorriest excuse for a player ever. He is better than the low expectations I had for him.

Hello Hawksquawk, Although I haven't posted for a few months I have come through from time to time to read. I have to say this site is full of hyper amatuers with no patience. I have for two years said the Hawks needed to build a championship team slowly, through young talent and lottery picks. My approach was implemented when they fired Pete Babcock and hired Billy Knight. When I preached patience the majority of posters screamed about how we had to make the playoffs or the franchise would be dissolved. Posters rambled about trends and claimed everyone from Donyell Marshall to Brent Barry were the answer to our problems.WTF? However this summer I saw a change. Posters started accepting that if we stay out of the playoffs for a couple of years and draft high. Poster started understanding that the top franchises play chess not checkers. Now after one loss. Poster again act like the sky has fallen. I continue to see a number of poster ramble on about second rate centers. I forget one hack who was paticularly popular this summer. Second rate plyers come a dime dozen. Look at the positives Josh Smith and Josh Childress have looked better than expected. And Al Harrington is a year or 2 from stardom. In the mean time we will get 2 more loittery picks. Which means we can add a star PG and a center to a nucleus of swingmen.
