  1. From ealier post I got the impression that Anderson would not be in a Hawks uniform next year. If he is, your idea may have added merit.

I guess it is too early to expect the young guard Cink we took last year to be ready to contribute?

Even so, a stragic pickup of a FA could be huge.

  2. I think Woody is doing his job with what he has and he has helped a young team grow. However, I don't think he can take them to the next level. Don't see the ability or maturity in him to take the team beyond this young stage. Better to make a change sooner than later.

Don't see BK getting moved on this year. He's in the middle of showing what he can do. Jury is still out?

  3. Although it is too early to tell much from the list, draftexpress.com

has a list of early entries. There are some interesting comments on this page.

They indicate that Bargnani is coming out and is signing an agent.

  4. The longer he drags it out the more leverage he has . . . and the more damage done to the franchise. At this point it would appear his motive is revenge. And it looks like he's going to get his pound of flesh. Don't think he'll ever get control of the franchise because David Stern would move heaven and hell to prevent it.

  5. From another blog.

Saw that you guys were picking him up..

He played here in Sweden two years ago I think, he's one of the biggest ballhogs i've ever seen, he also beat his own teammate in the lockeroom during halftime and he was arrested drunk driving during the year he stayed here.

He's skilled though, he can flat out ball but he isn't a team player at all. He's a great scorer and is a decent shooter on top of that, if he's playing in the NBA i'm sure he could be productive of the bench.

  6. You gotta wonder if Woody is a lame duck for the remainder of the season. His stars are like someone trying to set a new record for the mile and they burn themselves out in the first 3/4 mile.

It could get really ugly the last month of the season and BK is gonna have a hard time protecting Woody. With the owners so distracted by the court battle, who knows what will happen. Worst case . . . . the lawsuit continues, FA are scared away, Woody stays, we lose Al . . . . you get the picture. In whcih case the a$$hole in Boston wins.

  7. Before the Texas game one of the commentators mentioned that Aldridge didn't want to mix it up inside with the LSU bigs. That certainly turned out to be true. If that is the case, he's got a tough road in front of him when it comes to the NBA. He's got the skills and the size, but not sure he's got the attitude that is needed to be a stud.

Makes me take a second look at him at the number one pick.

  8. I think that makes a lot of sense. i think he's a west coast player and he's played enough to show what he's got. Seems everyone was surprised he fell into the second round last year. Your suggestion of Salim and our second ought to bring a second first rounder that could pick up a point guard.

  9. There has been a lot made that he is not NBA ready. It would be a short list of all the guys that have come into the league since they started drafting high school guys. They are all projects.

Info I read said that Bargnani made significant strides on defense this year. Like all young kids he starts out on the God given talent and then has to work to develop the rest. The good news is that he's got lots of God given talent and he's not afraid work hard to develop the rest.

I think he's got great potential.

  10. His natural skills are impressive. The areas that are weaknesses are not suprising for his age and can be taught. Some of his talent can't be taught. Also impressive is what is written about his work ethic and commitment to being a team player. At only 20 you gotta think he's going to put on some pounds and muscle. He was also given good reviews for playing against Bosh last summer. Love to see him in their with Josh, Josh, ZaZa and JJ.

  11. Bargnani is not getting the attention that the guys in the tournament get. But a little research on him indicates that he is a very talented big man. I don't see how the Hawks could pass on him. A 7 footer that has a lot of skills.

After the tournament is over and they have the camp, there will be equal time given to the Euro guys and I fully expect him to in the top 3-5 if he declares.

  12. Last year BK waited until the big names made their splash in FA and then quietly made his move for ZAZA . . . which turned out to be one of the best acquisitions for the money in the league. Who would fit that situation this year? Someone that would be a 'steal' and really meet our needs? Not the top flight FA, but rather someone not on the radar? What's your hunch?
