  1. Is it my imagination . . . or has the scuttle butt about Harrington being traded gotten quiet. Since there have been a couple trades go down, all the talk that involved Al has gotten quiet.

Is it the old line that the trades that really happen aren't talked about . . . or do teams know that BK wants to keep him??????

  2. Given this input from the owner, it would stand to reason that any trades before the deadline would be for draft picks or other young talent. They've defined the direction they are going, now what would fit into that plan if they trade Al? Gotta wonder if they stand pat until this summer for a SNT.

We won't have to wait long to find out now. Peace

  3. this is a post from Realgm.com:

I had a very brief conversation with one of the Hawks owners about Mike Woodson. I will not divulge the owner as it was at the game and I'm not sure if the 2 minute conversation was meant for a message board. The gentleman was very nice and listened politely to my concerns about Woodson.

    Here is the gist:

When the Hawks hired Woodson they wanted a young coach who would "play" the young players. He said that veteran coaches were too concerned with their record and often would go with veteran players who would be better in the short run. They wanted a coach who didn't care about his record that would just go with the young guys. (As we have so many young guys I am not sure that a veteran coach would have much choice but whatever).

Second, he called Woodson a "rookie", then corrected himself and said "sophomore"...he said that he makes some mistakes just like a typical rookie, uh, sophomore head coach.

He said that we are on pace to double last years wins...but they weren't happy about 26 wins but yet it was double last year...(He made it sound like they were happy about doubling the wins but made it clear that 26 is still bad...played both sides).

He said that BK defends Woodson to the hilt...BK says the record of the Hawks and their performance is much more related to the GM, not the head coach (I don't buy that)....said that BK dealt Woody a hand and Woody has to play it. He said that Billy thinks that Woodson is like a sacrficial lamb because he had a bad team but expectations were still too high. (I don't buy that either).

He said that they wrestle with some of the same questions as the fans. He also said that he agreed with some of my concerns but disagreed with some others. That was about it.

My take is that our finish this year will determine Woodson's fate. If we play reasonable basketball the last half then Woodson will keep his job for sure. Billy Knight defends this guy to the death and it would take a collective and determined ownership to over-ride Billy Knight. There was no mistaking BK's love for Woody.

He was very nice...said that I could chat with him anytime I see him at Philips. I will wait until another losing streak.

    Anyone want to translate?

  4. Miamie Hearald reports:

Expect the Hawks to talk to Miami about impending free agent PG Tony Delk, who's pushing for a trade because Atlanta hasn't played him. Riley has said he wants a shooter if he adds a veteran third point guard.

Would be nice to get Semien? Doleak? Both big bodies.

  5. The critical issue for this team is that they mature and learn to play together. That has happened slowly over the past 6 weeks. They've lost a bunch of close games that makes it hard to see how they've grown at times, but it's starting to show. A lot of it is a natural learning curve with the new additions. Hopefully they will start to put together some 2-3 game winning streaks. It's been great to see the excitement on the bench too. With a little bit of confidence they could start to turn the corner. Given where they've come from this year . . . . the devastating loss of a team member, they've done fairly well. Hopefully the worst is behind them. Also appears Joe J. is emerging as a leader. That could be a huge step with so many young guys on the squad. A little bit of confidence could do wonders.

  6. Crusing through the message boards of other NBA teams that are potential trade partners for Al and they seem to hold him with higher regard than many of the posts here. Chicago, Golden State and others see him as an important addition to their teams. Sounds like too many posters are selling his value short?

The grass is always is always greener on the other side of the mountain. (unless BK is the GM)

  7. Harrington Trade Looks Inevitable

    29th January, 2006 - 4:14 pm

Denver Post - Atlanta forward Al Harrington is expected to be the next big name moved before the Feb. 23 trading deadline. Atlanta loves Nuggets injured forward-center Nene, but don't expect Denver to give in. [READ]

RealGM had a brief blurb about Al. Sounds like things are heating up. Peace.

  8. Article on ReamGM about Chi Town looking at Al as a free agent.

“Obviously, they’re one of the top teams on my list as a free agent,” Harrington said. “They’re right there. This house is definitely going to be a situation I’m going to look at in free agency and if it’s a fit, I’ll be here.”

    If we don't trade him . . . .

  9. Seems like there are a lot of things that don't add up:

***Not putting Smith in when it counts.

***what's the deal with Delk. Play him or trade him.

***You can't tell me there is NOT A SERVICABLE BIG MAN OUT THERE IN FREE AGENCY that could help us. And they pick up Thompson who is a bum.

***Batista played hard the other night, made things happen, got some rebounds and then back to the bench.

Makes me wonder if they want to lose. It makes me crazy. I keep thinking every day I'll hear: Woodson fired.

Makes you wonder who is running the ship?

I like the Muscleman idea. Peace.

  10. This came off of RealGM. Deal gives us a pg and center?

    What do you think?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or if Milwaukee does not want Harrington,

    Indy trades Artest

    Indy receives Harrington

    Atlanta trades Harrington

    Atlanta receives Williams and Gadzuric

    Milwaukee trades Williams and Gadzuric

    Milwaukee receives Artest

  11. Well said. The loss will likely stir up trade talks again. Saw this one on RealGM.com, pushing Gordon as a pg.

I am a Heat fan and a long time Nique' fan. Beforrae you jump down my throat on so called trolling on your board, this is a legit trade which has nothing to do with my Heat.

    Bulls Trade

    Ben Gordon pg

    Daruis Songalia PF

    2nd rd draft pick

    for

    Hawks Trade

    Al Harrington SF/PF

I think this trade addresses two key positions for the Hawks. Ben is going to be a great pg he just needs the time and to start. Can you believe that he does not start for the Bulls. I know Hinrich and Duhon are good but Gordon has superstar written all over him. I see a great future between Ben Gordon, Joe Johnson, and eventually Marvin Williams. Songalia gives you guys a big to add to your bench. Or trade out him with Sweetney. Either way this is a no brainer trade for both teams. Al addresses the need for a more proven scorer for the Bulls, which they are looking for. Thoughts.

  12. Sometime next week, the Hawks will be working out MaJic Dorsey, Derrick Zimmerman, and TJ Cummings all who play in the D League.

For what? Is one our guards hurt or something?

I really have no clue, one of the three point guards is a friend of mine, and he called me yesterday to inform me this would happen. Maybe they just want to check these guys out incase a trade opens a roster spot.

So that means, we maybe trading one of our guards, if this is true

Anyone know anything about these guys?

    Peace.

  13. Trade rumors circulate furiously

The NBA rumor mill shows no signs of slowing down now that the league's trade season is in full swing. The latest has the Hawks and Nuggets talking about a possible deal that would send Harrington to Denver for point guard Earl Watson and injured power forward Nene.

There's also a scenario where the teams would be involved in a three-team deal that would send Harrington back to Indiana and volatile Pacers forward Ron Artest to Denver.

"I don't comment about rumors and speculation," Hawks general manager Billy Knight said Saturday when asked if there had been talks with any of the teams mentioned.

Harrington, who said he doesn't "have time to speculate about speculation," is in the final year of his contract and will be one of the most coveted free agents on the market this summer.

"The NBA is full of speculation and rumors. Always has been and always will be," Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe told the Denver Post. "I wish there was something exciting [out there], but there really is nothing happening."

Vandeweghe was scheduled to attend to Sunday's game but remained in Denver to man the phones with all the trade talk swirling.

Nene tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the season opener but had surgery and is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery.

"I have no comment on things I have no control over," Nene told the Post. "My recovery is on schedule, which I am happy about. I'm going to keep working hard."

Nene, a fourth-year pro and 2003 All-Rookie team pick, will be restricted free agent this summer. Watson is in the first year of a five-year, $29 million deal and the Nuggets are overloaded at point guard.

Watson declined to comment but has said that he was open to a trade in hopes of earning more playing time. He is behind Andre Miller and Earl Boykins.
