  1. Yeah rap music is far more sophisticated than country musicPosted Image .

That is an idiotic response, but I'm not surprised. I never mentioned rap as an alternative. Even folks in Tomball do not associate Atlanta with Travis Tritt even though he is from here.
  2. I'm fine with it. Let's just say it's not what runs any viewers off. LOLI like the image montage that accompanies it. I haven't seen the Fox Sports productions (like FS Carolinas' Bobcats games or FS Tennessee's Grizzlies games), but my hunch is FSN does a similar intro, quite possibly with the exact same music.~lw3

It is the same for the Bobcats but that is Charlotte. Charlotte is countrified. Atlanta is more sophisticated than that music.
  3. T.I.J.S. - is a story written in advance of a young man's life.

This is no disrespect to the man - Ivan Johnson - but he does have a checkered past and has exploded onto the Hawks scene and performed very well. Few of us know much about Ivan other than the fact that there were early "issues" and that he is basically banned from going to Korea.

Now don't get me wrong - I wouldn't give a hoot if I were banned from going to Korea - but I think you have to actually do something to attain that honor.

So - this is T.I.J.S. - The Ivan Johnson Story - written (predicted) in advance.

We all like being a bit of the voyeur...and Ivan is the perfect candidate. What is in Ivan's future?

    1. Ivan has proven himself as a quality player in the NBA and shoud get a $2-3M contract next year as a free agent.

    2. Ivan has proven himself as a borderline "nut' with aggressive tendencies.

So - not to really phuck with the guy - what do you predict for Ivan's future?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++

I'll start it out - I predict that Ivan will have a hard time with the off-season. It will allow him too much time to get in trouble...and the agents will be all over him...and eventually he will take advantage of that time. My guess is that Ivan will be bailed out of jail just in time for the NBA season.

This post is prejudiced, offensive as well as ridiculous.
  4. A Hawk win would push Boston two games away(and 6th seed) from homecourt. Boston would then tank to the 6th seed. Boston would rather play Indy without homecourt than Atlanta.

  5. Yes I agree. Bring him in slowly and hopefully he could provide starter quality minutes by the second round. Unless these first rounds are condensed like the season (I doubt it), the first round has been two weeks. So the hope is to see him in two weeks sparingly and see him ready in four weeks.

  6. Wow, some of these responses are insulting, some are just lame.OK. The "GDC" (Get it Done Crew) featuring Ivan (9 to 5) Johnson, Wille "money" Green, TMAC "is back", Jennaro "dontchaknow" Pargo, "Mad Rad", Marvin "what's really going on" Williams, Twin, Stacks and Damp.

  7. Here's my thought in the matter. It's true we need an offensive goto guy... preferably in the post. However, against Chicago... come on.Those guys were money from three and they bashed our heads in on the boards. It speaks directly to our weakness...We lack a big man that is an offensive force.Even when we have Horf, he's good for rebounds, but offensively, he doesn't play in the low post and he's not consistent enough to make low post scoring something other teams have to defend.Going forward I would like to see us acquire a guy like Kaman. We also need better coaching.Where is Mike Fratello? We're still the same team we were 6 yrs ago because we still have the same coach. I know Woody is gone, but it's hard for an Assistant to come in and have that much of a different voice than his head. Especially when he was the coordinator of the offense.Where we need better coaching is in discipline and toughness.

Riles and Phil were assistants.LD is doing a very good job.Sund brought in the best bench we have had.Injuries are our problem now.
  8. Interesting. It was a Great win. However, had we lost many would have called for LD's head. Interesting was keeping Mac and Rad on the bench for the entire forth quarter and 4 overtimes.Coach's decision (or indifference) aside, there should be a lasting bond with those 8 players that brought the win home.MacGrady is the only true Superstar (former et al) time in this league and I would rather see him involved more.

  9. Bob and Nique have been talking about playoff seeding a lot recently. We aren't there yet, but I think most of us assume we will be there. It seems logical that you want to be higher in the standings, but do we really want to be?Lets say we finish third. We would have homecourt and be playing the sixth seed. We would probably be playing Indiana or Orlando. I like both of those matchups, but we would be playing the Heat in the second round (assuming they finish second). If we finish sixth, it is probably a rematch with the Magic. In this scenario, it is obviously better finishing third because we get homecourt and are stuck with the Heat anyways. What has me really intrigued though, is finishing fifth. If we finish fifth, we will play the winner of the Central Divison. As long as we have a better record we will still get homecourt (so it might as well be the fourth seed). I worry about playing the 76ers, but they have slipped a bit since they dominated us earlier this year. Could we beat the Celtics? What about the Knicks? I feel we could take any team from the Central in the first round (if we can stay healthy). If we win the 4/5 series, we get a rematch with Chicago. Considering the injuries of Rose and how we have played the Bulls this past year, I'd much rather see them instead of the Heat in the second round. So what do you guys think?

You mean the Atlantic Division. If the Hawks are healthy, the only team that I fear is a healthy Rose-led Bulls team. With all players healthy we are a very very dangerous team. Tomorrow against Utah I expect a boost from Mac and Stack. Marvin looks good of the bench too.
  10. Washington got bigs and they have guards that like to penetrate. Tonight will be a fight. We have to deal with Nene, Seraphin, Vessley... Those guys will make this game tough. I don't know about Blatche... I think he's back in the doghouse. We also know that Wall and Crawford will be working to penetrate everytime they get the ball. IF Zaza is still out, we might have to call on Damp?Is Damp in the doghouse or what?

We have begun this most crucial stretch of this season. With 6 games in these 8 days brings upon us an opportunity to define this season. Coach Drew and staff is in charge of managing this journey. I believe he needs to play only the healthy guys and allow the ailing ones to heal. The risk in this is losing games we may win. Well trusting the healthy one's will strengthen us in the long run (playoffs). These pro's gotta grind it out and especially make ways to win against the "under .500 teams. If Zaza is not ready, Damp and Twin gotta step up,
  11. We really surprised a lot of people last spring dominating Orlando and sparing well against Chicago. With these many injuries we have shown some veteran grit when in past we would have folded(in several games) instead. Since we did not make a move at the trade deadline the thinking must be get healthy and run with what we have.Health is the x factor. If healthy we can make a run at the ECF. A good showing for the team ma mean good showings for individuals, means more trade possibilities over the summer.

  12. I believe what we see in Josh and Joe is evidence that we can beat any team, with a full roster. Zaza has been giving us quality play as the starting center. We know Al. Offensively he is a mid-range shooter, a big that can run the court in transition. Defensively he is a very good post defender particularly against any PF. With the ascending high quality bench it has become obvious our starters, Zaza,Al,JoshJoe,Jeff. If we cannot move Joe or amnest Joe, we should roll with what we got. This bench is the difference. The bench is actually the veteran mindset and a changing culture. Josh maturing is mind-tantalizing with his prowess. So, with a healthy Al we are a very very scary team. What we hoped we would be. This soft schedule the rest of the way should provide rest, bench minutes and confidence going into the playoffs. Look, Miami struggles with our zone and Rose maybe continue to fight against his body, this could be the year to "Steal" a championship.

  13. He is not a conventional PG but he is the only starter who can slash in the paint at will. You have to have at least one guy on the floor who can do that........especially when your playing without a offensive post option.

I still think he is a pretty good pro and will only get better. After finding his 3 point shot I hope his focus is on improving his defense moving foward.

It just dawned on me, your definition of Teague's game is similiar to D. Rose in style. I think Teague is fine and ligit. He should continue to improve.

  14. A healthy Hawks team is scary. Only Chicago with a healthy Rose scares me. since we made no moves, I'm looking for Al to get back. If we had made moves (for the future), I would have sat Al til next year.

With a healthy Al, we are trill. We have seen the bench dominate other second strings, we see Josh in Beast Mode (since the snub), we saw in Denver what Joe is capable of.

This is the best Hawk team we have seen since Mookie and the gang.

With all our flaws, only Chicago is in the way if we are healthy and motivated.

  15. That's 10 million PER YEAR and unless they hit an absolutely home run with personnel and marketing decisions there is no way they're going to make that up every year for 4 straight years. I mean we're talking about an ownership group who are freaking out over paying the luxury tax, surely you can't believe that they're going to pay Joe 40 million to play for someone else, right?

I believe the team is for sale. You're not paying attention. I'm not talking about this ownership.
