  1. WOrst case (maybe best) we don't get anyone of merit and somehow end up with Wiggins next season (after a LONG season of losing) .... pairing him with Al would be awesome.

Pairing Dwight with Al is awesome. I wonder if DF really wants Dwight. I wonder why Dominique was not there. This "change the culture" thing is kinda creepy. Has 'Nique been put away for this culture change? If it happens that DF did not really go after Dwight, this era is going to be long and painful. Because a slow route in the NBA is painful. D12 means so much for this franchise. DF need to recognize the attendance and the tele broadcast. No one is interested without a star.

  2. It's the same Time Warner that gave the Mets a network deal. The Turner/Atlanta connection hasn't been relevant since the 90's.

I believe you missed my point. The entertainment opportunities in LA are in Atlanta, with less BS. I program from start to air in Atlanta is cheaper and quicker here, would reach the same viewers.

  3. I doubt it was their first meeting. Dwight having played many times at Philips and spent time in the arena after games, all the owners have met him. It is good to have the money man there, fore Dwights money men were there also. Bud gave philosophy and looked into his eyes. I do believe Dwight wants Josh there and it was ASG's opportunity to respond to his desire. After second thought, there was no need to bring Lou and Al out there for the meeting. Dwight and Lou are boys, Al is the consummate teammate nuff said.I'm sure they shared the new facilities and the push for investments.

With Dwight money will not be a problem organizationally, investors will be knocking down the door.

And remember the Hawks play in London this year. That's another million coming at Dwight's way just by being there.

  4. I hope people will accept a rebuild if/when Howard decides ATL is not the team. Ferry/Bud is in control of the team, not Howard or the fans/media. They know what a respectable franchise looks like.

Top franchises seize the moment. Dwights only come around every 4-5 years. This is That moment. This is the D12,Al,Josh and Lou moment. This is Atlanta's time. Ferry better recognize.

  5. Time Warner Cable is having discussions with Dwight Howard being given his own show if he re-signs with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The NBA has no issue with Time Warner Cable being involving in the Lakers' pitch, but no extra compensation can be promised, according to a league source.

Time Warner is looking for additional content as part of their monster deal with the Lakers.

"They could simply be presenting ideas about how they plan to cover Howard and the Lakers in the future," said the source. "That's allowed"

Oh Time Warner. That would be like "Turner"? Turner with all of their programming in....Atlanta? Is their an agreement in place with Tyler Perry? How many studios in the metro area? Movie Studios, recording studios, tele and advertising studios. BET films here. Outside of LA and NY Atlanta is the entertainment destination. That is what the talking heads won't say.

  6. I really don't like the lineup of Smith/Horford/Howard offensively. It's great defensively and talent wise, but it lacks chemistry and balance. I don't see that ever evolving into a championship roster. I'd hate to have two divas at the expense of Horford, I think I'd rather go another route if that's our option.

I think Dwight Howard, if he's actually analyzing this from as basketball perspective, knows Josh's game well enough to see the liabilities the pairing would create. Houston's Harden/Smith/Howard lineup, with Parsons as well, does show very solid balance on the other hand and has championship potential. As much as I like Asik (I know some don't, but I like his game), I don't want to help the Rockets out with that deal. Makes them too good and shows a defeatist mentality on our part.

I disagree. No one (Dwight) will be doubled without paying a high price, because of Al's 15-18 ft jumper. So Dwight without being doubled in the post is close to automatic, he just needs two moves and work on his free throws. Just as Duncan, high post Dwight and pass over opponents to Al or Josh (Josh has already perfected that lob) for points. It may be the best front since Parrish/McHale/Bird.

  7. Josh was the Hawks MVP last season and you folks call him crap. We were competitive for the 4th seed with him, without him we were in the lottery. Josh is in LA. I hope Ferry is smart enough to bring Josh, Jeff, Lou and Al to the meeting.

PS. I hope Dwight and Josh don't read Hawksquawk cause your hate speaks loud.

I understand what you are saying. Bud would probably have to convince Josh a 6th man role like Manu's is in everyone's best interest. Manu got paid very well to be a 6th man btw.

    Now that is ridiculous.

  8. When I saw your avi and the first two letters of your post, I thought to myself, "what does the Dungeon Family have to do with anything?"

I seriously doubt we get either and at this point, I don't even want Dwight.

You may not know, Dwight is a "Swatguy". He was reared on the fields and gyms of Adams Park, John A. White Park, Sandtown, Ben Hill. He is as Atlanta as 3000, Ceelo and what flavor is mentioned. His folks are Strong in the community. But really cause you don't want him here, why bother?

  9. I like McCollum a lot. However, if we do not trade down my targets are Larkin and Giannis. Those two are the big risk big reward type guys that are worth the investment. Shane is a winner beyond reason and Giannis potential is off the chain. Giannis is the physical rarity you want.

  10. With the changes in Boston, Rondo may be available. As they should have a new fresh face, Trade Horford and Teague for Rondo and Jordan Crawford. Fill the void with Jefferson as a ....PF. Al Jefferson is not the best defender as a center but should defend at least as well as a PF. Al is very active and scores as well as any PF in the league if featured. He definitely scores better than Horford and may be had at 10mil per. With that give Dwight the moon, stars(dat be Tyler Perry stuff and JD) and a SF. Hawks have said they will go into the LT. Being as it may, sign Josh or Iggy also. In short, I'd move Horford for Rondo knowing I can get Jefferson.

    Rondo

    Lou

    Iggy

    Jefferson

    Dwight

  11. Smoove = SNT for Picks.

With a new coach, I would try to build around Horf. I would reup Teague and Zaza. I would also bring back Devin. I would let my draft picks do work

    Franklin

    Hardaway Jr.

    Dedmon

    Kadji.

    Free Agents:

Tony Allen = 8 to start

Hickson or Andre Blatche = 8 Million to 6.0 Million start.

Kaman = 6 million to start.

Wesley Johnson = 5 to start.

So my team looks like this:

    Kaman, Zaza Dedmon

    Horf, Hickson

    Johnson, Hardaway Jr.

    Allen, Franklin,

    Teague, Harris, Lue.

This team is not a marquee team. We don't make people think about great star players. We're more like Indiana.

OK, I SnT Josh and a #2 pick for a SnT acquiring Hickson and Wes Mathews. I want young talent so no Tony Allen (unless 4yr/22mil.)

If Plumlee is there, get him. Qualify Teague with no extension, draft Shane Larkin if available. Resign Korver, Zaza and Ivan. Go HARD for IGGY.

    Team looks like this:

    Teague/Lou/Shane

    Wes/Lou/Jenkins

    Iguodala/Korver

    Horford/Hickson/Ivan

    Zaza/Plumlee/Ivan

    fillers:Scott, Mack

  12. I won't doom and gloom too much but I will say that I want us to land a star whether through trade, free agency or the draft.

I love our cap position because we can offer something other teams can't - not just max money but the chance to join forces with another star. That is a FA draw that we will destroy if we sign Jefferson/Tyreke etc. I am, however, skeptical of our ability to leapfrog Chicago, Indiana, etc. by going with the Teague/Jefferson/Tyreke road but that is a doom and gloom post for another day.

We have the tale of two teams right now with one with Chris and D12, while the other is the "build" without them. Getting the dynamic duo would be great, it is what we want but it is remote. I'd rather have young talent on the cusp than aging vets that will eat up the cap( Jefferson, Ellis). The two picks in the first round is an opportunity. I am hoping for Plumlee and either Franklin, Larkin, Schröder or Antetukounmpo. As for FA, Iggy maybe.
