We didn't pay Bazemore to be this mediocre and I don't think it's on him... His best games this season were when he played majority of the minutes in the SG spot. Bud knows what he's capable of but yet he hesitates to change his lineup because Korver provides "spacing". Imma huge Korver guy but if he is only gonna give us 5 point in the starting lineup on 20% shooting sit his ass and give him right around 10 min per game so he can run around against undisciplined 2nd units and jack 3's. It's not a hard case to solve. Korver has to sit ASAP!

Doesn't matter what position Baze plays. He can't shoot or finish at the rim consistently, and has bad defensive habits.

  2. We could have acquired him a year ago for nothing, so I doubt there's interest. I'm big on Harkless. He strongly improved his perimeter defense and shooting as he earned playing time in POR.

We won 73 games and a championship in the last 2 years?

People dislike when top guys go to loaded teams. It's like they can't do something, so they go find a place that can do it without him, just to put his face on the cover of it. If that makes sense.

...except when it benefits their team.

  4. Well now we need a replacement for him and a SF ... Gotta be someone out there that can play some solid backup minutes

I still like the underwhelming but efficienct blue-collar option of James Johnson.  He can play the 3 or 4; he's currently buried on Toronto's bench.

  5. We don't necessarily need to acquire a full time starter, just someone who can step in and defend, rebound and stick to the system on offense (not Smoove or Swaggy P). I like Wes Johnson for the right price, but there's still other options.  Danny Granger, James Johnson and Moe Harkless are all buried on their depth charts.  K.J McDaniels is still available (RFA).

  6. I have a hard time rooting for the tanking to be honest. I wanted it before the season so we could have gotten a star. Rooting for it now is like being excited that you landed a date with Kirsten Dunst after you turned down a date with Kate Upton.

I find it interesting at the disconnect on both sides of this:

    (a) I wanted to tank before the season and got over it by rooting for the team to win and now struggle to want to see them do anything but win.

    (b) A lot of people who thought that it was impossible to tank with Al Horford and youth/junk think that tanking with Millsap, Teague, Korver, DMC, etc. is perfectly natural.

Tough to logically reconcile those positions on either side, I admit. My head says we should lose and get on with adding a player of value but I have a tough time letting go of wanting to validate the original "go for the second round" vision for this team.

I assume we are tanking, unless Bob Sura gets signed to a 10-day.

  7. Its not Smith's fault, we all know he is an idiot. It the fault if this lame duck coach. There should never be a game where Smith has as many 3 pt shot attempts as Korver. There is no accountability...none. Giving this dude max money would be much worst than Joe.It's sad, but, this is what he is, just not mature enough to be counted on to lead this team.

At some point as a pro, you need to realize what is best for your team and stop trying to "prove the haters wrong" or focusing on making an All Star team. It hasn't registered in his elementary mind by now; it never will.I agree with the accountability part but I think the coaches are being told what to do and have their hands tied by ownership/management (see D. Wilkins aka #1 Smoove fan).
  8. He definitely has to go. His low BBIQ hurts the team..

Yup. He's not smart enough, or unselfish enough to box out, rebound, give the ball to a guard, run the floor, get in the paint, set a solid screen or crash the boards. The 3 pointer at the end WAS his fault, since he chose to spot up there instead of being in the paint where can and should DO WORK.
  9. The problem with the Hawks is they have not had a leader on our team in almost a decade (or longer). A leader would lead by example, set the tone, hold each team member accountable for their roles/responsibilities on the court.

Smith thinks it's his team, but Horford is the ROCK and real leader. Horford, Teague and Korver all lead much better than Josh ever will. Josh just doesn't get it. While he's launching perimeter junk shots, whining to the refs and attempting Magic-esque passes trying to "prove the haters wrong", the team players are taking care of business and picking up his slack.Cousins wouldn't need to be our leader right away. His combo of size and skill cannot be passed up, if available for Josh. Al and Cousins would be a nightmare for EVERY team in the league. If he ends up elsewhere in the East, he will destroy us for the next decade.
