  1. If ASG let's Childress play in Europe, this will definately prove their character and their commitment in winning. Obviously, "being on the cheap" and letting their best 6th man leave for nothing would simply be embarrassing. We would be set back in terms of growth and our bench would have no depth outside of Childress. Trading J.Smoove in response to Childress' departure would hinder the makeup of our team and more importantly, the chemistry we're trying to build. ASG better get serious in the coming weeks. If they keep dragging out this signing process, the Hawks will be in deep trouble and it all starts with management!
  2. 1. Michael Finley 2. Robert Swift 3. Theo Ratliff (tutor to Robert Swift) Obviously, Finley would give veteran leadership to a young squad. Don't be fooled by Swift's injuries. His production (rebounds/blocks) were on the rise till his knee injury. He's still young, and didn't he jump from h/s to NBA. I would bring Theo Ratliff back for some serious veteran blocking tutelage for Swift and Horford. I just wish Ratill was 25 years old again. I can just imagine the blocking spree of a "young" Ratliff, Horford, and J-Smoove. First team defense!
  3. Would the Hawks be willing to make a bid for Unrestricted Free Agent Shaun Livingston? He's coming back from a major reconstructive knee injury, but doctor's have cleared him to play basketball. It's been nearly a 1 1/2 years since the injury. Having Livingston, Law, and Bibby for our PG's would be interesting both starting and bench. Livingston would have great value if he becomes the projected "Hall of Fame" PG scouts predicted. Livingston Law Bibby http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/n...ers16-2008jun16,0,2121409.story
  4. I bet Horford didn't have any trouble paying for classes or taking out Financial Aid. He could walk into the cashier's office with a suitcase of $100 bills. I remember when I graduated from USC, tuition was $17,000 per semester.
  5. I'd like to know more about the Hawks scouting department. Does the Hawks have their own in-house scouts, do they subcontract scouts from different US / International regions? I'm curious as to who is the mastermind behind all the talent evaluating for the Atlanta Hawks? - A scout must have seen JJ as a blossoming superstar and inquired BK to make a trade. - A scout saw something in Josh Smith and told BK to take a chance where 15 or so other teams passed up on him and had no earthly clue about his potential. - If the same scout positively inquired about the two mentioned above, did he get shafted when he inquired about taking Chris Paul instead of MW on draft night. I know my conclusions sound subjective, but it's a question I havn't seen or read in this forum. I would like to know the experts advice and their take on this issue. Thanks!
  6. I'm a college student and havn't had the luxury of having direct tv or a tv in 4 years. I've be reading about Acie Law. I understand he had a wrist injury that set him back earlier in his rookie season and another injury later in the season. What I'm curious about was when Acie was healthy, was there any glimpses of promise? 1. Was he a floor leader? 2. Does he attack the rim? 3. Was he better as a offensive or defensive player? 4. Is he a fast tempo type PG? 5. Most of all, is Acie worthy of being the Hawks PG of the future? If so, when do you think he'll take over the PG starting position over Bibby?
  7. Say Sund keeps Mike Woodson this year and he under performs. The Hawks release Woodson to pursue another high caliber coach next year. The questions I have is: What NBA team do you envision terminating their coach and the Hawks jumping on the opportunity for hire?
  8. Would Josh Smith value net us either a #2, #3,#4, NBA draft pick?
  9. First, thank you Atlanta Hawks for taking the Celtics to Game 7. Moving on, besides trading players, new coach, new GM, or any of these catasthrophic moves, doesn't the Atlanta Spirit and Belkin have to both agree on these changes? 1. What's the situation now with our management? 2. Any word if any free agents that would consider signing with the Hawks after the hype built around our playoff run?
  10. Has anyone heard what Law, Marvin, and Horford are doing during this offseason? Any news articles? I heard Josh Smith is training in TX with two basketball Hall of Famers. ........................................ If I recall correctly, the Hawks were ranked #1 the first 6 or 10 games at the beginning of the season. ....................................... It's the 3rd year for Marvin Williams, and usually 3rd year players make the most impact for their team.
  11. I was 13 watching that "NBA on NBC" Clip. It's obvious that a pass-first PG in Mookie and anchor Center in Dikembe Mutombo makes a big difference getting into the playoffs. It's funny how the Bulls were a little shaken from our PG and C capabilities. Hopefully, Law and Horford can help us out. Time will tell.
  12. I agree with KB. This trade immediately makes us a better team. For years, the Hawks have been lacking a playmaking PG (since Mookie Blaylock). Can you imagine our defense anchored by Horford and Josh Smith in the Paint? That in itself nets us offensive and defensive rebounds. Not to mention, a duo of blocking machines. Horford and J.Smith bring a defensive intensity every single play. We have Childress and JJ on the wings. Most importantly, we have Andre Miller making plays for Josh Smith. Imagine how much better Josh Smith is with Andre Miller? I swear Josh Smith will have more high light reels on ESPN. Andre Miller makes everyone better on the court. On top of that, we draft Crit at #12. We groom Crit. under Andre Miller, and in a few years, let Crit. become the PG General. Plus, we have depth by adding Carney (6th man). And a #21 draft pick? If you guys havn't forgotten, we past on Tony Parker a few years ago, and Tony Parker was drafted in the early 20's. There's a hidden gem in the early 20's. This draft makes sense for the Hawks. I say pull the trigger! The biggest gamble is if Marvin Williams explodes into the All-Star Scene; however, what matters most, is balancing our roster. BK's ego is what makes or breaks this deal. Andre Miller/Javaris Crit JJ/Salim Childress/Carney Josh Smith/Sheldon Horford/Zaza/Solomon/Splitter
  13. Will there be an opportunity for Horford vs. Yi scrimmage before draft day?
  14. The Hawks are in the driver's seat here. The Blazer's wouldn't help us out last year when we tried swapping draft picks. Now the Blazer's are asking for a favor. Please keep in mind that our GM Billy Knight is better in trading than drafting. I predict we're going after Aldridge and Portland's 1st next year. We do not have draft picks next year, and in Billy's mind, we have the leverage. Oden will demand to have Conley. We're in the perfect draft position to pick up Conley and it so happens we need a pure PG. The Blazer's are the team that needs to sweeten the deal, not the Hawks!
  15. Memphis will take Conley at #3. You really think Crittenton/Law is worth #4? Unless we trade the #4 again to another team. Again, I have no idea if that's allowed in the draft.
  16. I'll give BK credit for his clever trading abilities. He netted us the 2 draft picks. If we swap Memphis Gets: Smoove + #3 (Conley) Atlanta Receives: Gasol + #4 (Yi) Atlanta drafts Law The Hawks come out with a starting Center and Point Guard and groom Yi behind Sheldon. 3 big time players in a draft. Again, in BK's mind, everything is a smoke screen. The possibilities are inevitable.
  17. As crazy as this sounds, I think BK might pull an upset with the #3 Pick. After the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs, Kobe publicly asked for instant help. Granted that Kobe was a big factor on the Shaq trade, there's a chance that the person with the most value would be Bynum (they have Kwame Brown). I can imagine Lakers, Timberwolves, and Hawks 3 way deal. Hawks Trade: Lue, Childress, and #3 Pick Hawks Receive: Bynum and (?) In turn, Hawks sit tight and wait for the first available PG at #11. I'm telling you, the Hawks will heavily recruit a private workout with Conley vs. Crittenton vs. Law NBA 2007 Hawk Draft. Bynum - Center Law - PG Hawks Starting Lineup Law - PG JJ - SG MW - SF J.Smoove - PF Bynum - C
  18. I agree Bus. Trading up would be a pipedream to get Oden but we'll have no one left on our roster to help him. I think the Hawks Draft will boil down to "rookie invitation match ups". Conley vs. Crittenton vs. Law. Of course, BK will keep everything low profile. For the next month, Hawksquawk will be busy posting trade scenerios. There's so many options we have! I wouldn't be surprised if we trade one of our picks for a young veteran (Rondo or Bynum).
  19. you're right. We're the team with the most trade options and have players with trade value ala Marvin Williams and Josh Childress. We can move up to the #1 pick and trade the barn, or move down. Whatever it is, GM Billy Knight will have a busy phone from many teams looking to trade up. I imagine BK having a chalk board filling the entire Hawks front office full of scenerios. BK's job is on the line and he knows he can't mess this draft up. He has to be the ultimate mastermind this offseason.
  20. What's the knock on Crittenton? Crittenton is 6'5 Law 6'3 Conley 6'1 Not only is Crittenton a hometown Georgia Tech Alumn, but he's tall. He fits BK's ideal tall PG. Has anyone from the Georgia area watch Crittenton play in action. Is he a worthy #11 pick? Again, I would love for BK to have a "Conley vs. Crittenton vs. Law" workout If Crittenton beats out Conley, you can bet that the 3 pick will be Jianlian or Hibbert. Unless BK trades the 3 pick for more valued veteran players to take Hibbert later on. I get nautious if the hawks draft Hibbert at 3.
  21. Bus, would you pick Crittenton at #11?
  22. Between Picks #4 and #10: What teams are in pressing need of a PG? PG: Description 1. Conley: playmaking PG 2. Law: shoot first PG 3. Crittenton: ? Is it realistically possible for the Hawks to draft Conley at #11? What are the other teams scenerios with their PG situations between Picks 4 and 10?
  23. The Hawks have the worse luck with the lottery. How many years has it been since we landed the #1 Overall Pick? Are we the longest standing team who hasn't won the #1 Overall Lottery Pick? A serious question! If we land Ogden, we better pick up Conley (sp?) at 11.
  24. hey coachx...i have no tv, i barely get online unless I have time. Graduate architecture is keepine me busy. From Rhino, Photoshop, Sketchup, Piranesi, 3d Max, it's hard for me to keep up in hawksquawk. I wonder what is going through BK's mind right now considering management issues, finding a new coach, or better yet, BK being on the hotseat? It'll be interesting what will happen when the management issues are resolved and where this franchise will be headed.

I was checking on NBAdraft.net We are currently selecting 4th. If we land a Top 3 pick, the Hawks still keep our 1st round pick from Phoenix (JJ trade)? If this is true, we may have a Top 3 Pick (possibly a Oden draft pick) and a Top 12-15 pick. If everything falls our way, a miracle that we win the Oden sweepstakes. Just for fun. 1. Would you keep Oden or trade the #1 pick 2. If keeping Oden, would you package Josh Smith or Marvin Williams (our extra draft pick or J.Childress) for a Legit PG?
