  1. I think the announcers (League Pass) said BK was there as well. I think a trade may be in the works. Maybe with Seattle.
  2. I lurk mostly but have been keeping up, the last 2 games were the first I have got to see since first week of season (League Pass free preview tonight as well), so without getting to see the games I have had little to say, but the last game it seemed to me that Woody has sucked the life and/or confidence out of several players, so I am ready to see him gone.... And ready to see BK able and willing to do SOMETHING to improve this team mid-season.
  3. down aways in blog http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-bl..._winds_blo.html By Sekou K. Smith January 25, 2008 2:50 PM | Link to this Heard a great rumored deal today: Jamaal Magloire straight up for Zaza. The money ($4 million for each guy) works and bringing him here allows you to keep your core intact and add the greasy big man you need to help get this team by in the middle. And the risk isn’t nearly as great because Magloire’s contract is up at the end of the season, so he’ll be motivated to prove his worth and if it doens’t work out, you’re not locked into a long-term deal. Magloire doesn’t play for New Jersey (they have young bigs Sean Williams and Josh Boone they’re going with), so he has to be expendable. But it sounds like a no-brainer deal for both sides. Wish I knew if they were talking … By Sekou K. Smith January 25, 2008 3:01 PM | Link to this I know Mike mentioned Magloire earlier, but I heard it today from a source that indicated Magloire is not only available but that he’s being shopped. Just thought it was pretty interesting.
  4. I have not gotten to actually see a Hawks game since first week of season. For those with DirecTV, the NBA League Pass is having another Free Preview, 1/21 - 1/27. Four potentially viewable Hawks games during that time! I tried to watch online with the links sometimes posted here, but my hughes.net satellite internet connection could not pull the load, sometimes I would get the audio portion but never more than a few seconds of video.. Just thought some of you might not know about this free preview starting today. mj
  5. Sothron - I appreciate your posts and wish you and your wife a total and speedy recovery from your accident injuries. I really appreciate that you came back to this forum with these painfull injuries and even had your wife type in some info for us, and for that you got dragged around and argued with by some here. Hope you find that overall it was and is worth the posting effort.
  6. Here's another who mostly lurks who appreciates Sothron's reportage efforts and finds no reason to argue about them.
  7. I am mostly a lurker here, as I rarely get to see any games (maybe I will get the League Pass if the Hawks ever really turn things around), but as someone who has always valued real highly Sothron's contributions to the information here on this forum, I wanted to express my thanks to both Sothron and Mrs. Sothron for communicating this (troubling, but making sense) information to this forum. That and I want to contribute my thoughts and energies for healing for both of you to recover fully and quickly from your accident-caused injuries.
  8. I only got sound out of that (similar) link last game...which was still alot better than the espn gametracker, but it was also about 15 seconds behind the espn info, interestingly enough. I was hoping the .FR link at top of thread might work better for my (hughes.net sat) connection. Ticks me off that channel 631 shows these games but blacks them out for me in NC.
  9. Clicked it again and now I am getting the audio feed only
  10. I just get a 'connecting to media' status and 'no games scheduled today' Perhaps it does not work for satellite broadband? (Hughes.net)
  11. I can't see Hawks without the LP, but I am not willing to pay for it until I understand how the Blackouts work- LP did not list the Hawks Detroit game and it was blacked out for me here in NC on the sports channel it was on: FSN? I don't want to pay for LP unless I get all telivised Hawks games, no blackouts. Any one know how it works for an NC person with WNC directv local channels.
  12. I am watching the DirecTV League Pass Preview (last night) and it is likely the only Hawks TV game I see this season.
  13. On Marvin from Sekou http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/index.html Quote: Hawks are 2-0 in exhibitions By SEKOU SMITH The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 10/11/07 Miami — Hawks forward Marvin Williams was in the zone this time a year ago. He came to training camp off of a summer-league experience that saw him named the Most Valuable Player at the Rocky Mountain Revue. He was playing the best basketball of his life. He was strong as he had ever been. His confidence was soaring. And in a split second, and the crack of a bone in his left hand, all that flow came to an abrupt end. That broken finger cost Williams the first 17 games of the season — and the swagger that he is slowly getting back now. And while he isn't all the way back to the confident, attacking small forward he was, Williams is getting closer. "I saw glimpses of the old Marvin in the second half [of Monday night's win over Orlando], and I expect to see him from here on out," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said before his team's 106-100 overtime win over Miami at AmericanAirlines Arena on Wednesday night, their second consecutive exhibition season win. "It's so unfortunate for Marvin that his injury happened the way it did last year because when you're at the same stage of development he is right now, every little boost of confidence helps." Williams might have the toughest assignment of any Hawks player this season while working mostly at small forward. Not only do the Hawks need him to be a competent defender at one of the league's toughest positions, they also need him to be able to go back on offense and score 15-18 points a night, every night. That's why this exhibition season is so important to Williams, who finished with 17 points and six rebounds Wednesday night. He knows he has to make up for lost time. "Some people might not take it as serious," he said. "Every second out there for us is a learning experience and a confidence booster. You just want to win as many battles as you can and roll some of that confidence into opening night [of the regular season] against Dallas and then carry it on from there. But every second matters to me. Every second." If Williams answers the call this season, the Hawks have a chance to chase their lofty goals, which include making the playoffs for the first time in eight years. "Marv knows what kind of pressure is on all of us this year," said Hawks captain and All-Star Joe Johnson. "And I don't think it's any secret that we need big production from all of our starters and rotation guys. But with him being the No. 2 pick in the draft, and this being his third year and all, people are expecting him to take that next step." That's a tall order for any player, let alone a 21-year-old just two years removed from his only season of college basketball. Williams, however, is comfortable with that challenge. And after a trying sophomore season — he did average 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds while starting in 63 of 64 games last year — he insists he's ready to get back his swashbuckling ways. "After I broke my hand I went back to the way I played my first year," Williams said. "So for me it's just a matter of being in attack mode at all times. I went to the line a lot the other night and hopefully I can do that again every night, be aggressive at all times."
  14. No TV games ticks me off. Only games I will get a chance to see are the Free Preview of NBA League Pass, if they have that again this year. Hawk's games are blacked out for me here in NC, and I will not be spending the $ for the Pass unless the Hawks storm out of the gate for the first month and I can't resist paying any longer. I really thought 1 or 2 TV games would happen this year, but I should have known the Hawks are still dirt in the League and Media's eyes.
  15. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...hawks_0717.html HAWKS 83, MAVERICKS 77 Law, Williams lead Hawks to second win By SEKOU SMITH The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 07/16/07 Salt Lake City — Acie Law IV's reputation as the best clutch player in college basketball last year was no myth. The Hawks' rookie point guard proved as much here Monday afternoon, leading the Hawks to an 83-77 come-from-behind win over the Dallas Mavericks at the Rocky Mountain Revue. Law knocked down a huge jumper, fed Shelden Williams on a crucial layup and sank the game-clinching free throws all in the final minute of action to lead the Hawks to their second straight win at Salt Lake Community College. "Acie was huge out there," Hawks assistant coach Larry Drew said. "He wanted the ball in his hands and he made the right plays down the stretch to get us over the hump. You couldn't have asked him to anything more than what he did." Law finished with a game-high 24 points, on 6-for-8 shooting from the floor, and added six rebounds and five assists in 29 minutes of action. Williams added 20 points and nine rebounds, his second straight 20-point game, for the Hawks (2-1), who'll take on Chicago Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks played without rookie forward Al Horford, who sat out the game with a sprained right ankle and could also miss Tuesday's game against the Bulls as a precautionary measure.
