So what, we lost Horford a guy who didnt really want to stay. So let him GO!
What we Have:
What we Know:
What we Need:
What will Happen NEXT:
Hawks will probably move Thabo or Splitter soon to strenthen the roster.
Projections:
If we stay healthy, and we get improvements from our young guys then look for us to battle for the #3 spot in the East
Ownership did a great job this offseason, In the end Horford wanted to leave.
Hawks offer to Al Horford topped out at $136 million over 5 years, sources said.
6 minutes ago, WraithSentinel said:what a huge epic fail from this franchise. they try to be cheap with Horford and it backfire. then they had to resort to getting on their hands and knees begging like fools and Horf just told them to get lost.
Cheap? Please we offered him 5yr/136mill... He turned it out Down...
Good Job Ownership! i now have more faith in you after this offseason
1 minute ago, JayBirdHawk said:I'm not cool with letting Al walk this year, then Sap walk next year. Not good basketball sense.
(FYI - paying Sap at 32 is also not an option)
Here's a question - can Sap be extended? @hawksfanatic
SAP will be gone next season...hence why were exploring trades with him. Horford does throw a huge wrench into those plans by bolting.
9 minutes ago, JayBirdHawk said:All I see is lateral movement with that lineup. I've always said I wanted Dwight WITH Al AND Sap, not in lieu of either, and on top of that no Teague. So it's essentially Teague and Horford for Dwight - that just doesn't sit right with me.
I don't want to let Al leave for nothing, that's just too good of an asset, particularly with so many teams wanting him. (I was OK letting Josh leave for nothing).
Put it this way, we are better off with Al in the lineup than not.
Calm down people...If Horford wants to walk...let him go and move on. Good job on ownership to atleast making a huge effort this offseason. I must say I'm not use to Atlanta actually making noteworthy moves. After the free agency period subsides, I would expect ATL to make a trade for an impactful small forward and backup PG help. More moves will be made before October people. Calm Down...

Looks like our Ownership group went all in this Free Agency...Now it's up to Horford.
Go Hawks!

Luxury Tax is probably the concern for the owners. Dwight will bring in the ratings if he stays healthy, b/c the media loves the coming home story. BUT, if we get into the Luxury tax and don't win, then we are no better off.
The silver lining is Milsap will opt out next summer anyway so it will be Luxury Tax for one year....We will learn a lot about our new owner in a few days. He has built a new practice facility, but is he also willing to enter luxury tax threshold for a team.
Depends on how well THJ and the two rookies step up next season., plus if our Bigs stay healthy
THJ has more upside that Bazemore...We saw in flashes last season...Let me play!
GO BLUE! and GO HAWKS!
YOUR MOVE ATL...CELTICS FLYING TO ATL TO SIGN HORFORD
Just now, RWF said:Your implying Horford stays. We have to see 1st. I don't want to lose him for nothing.
I would think if he wants to leave then we invoke a sign & trade so he can get that 5th year....
16 minutes ago, JayBirdHawk said:We have about $6 mil left after Al's caphold and I've figured $22 for D12, so if Splitter is traded that's $14 for Baze.
I trust in Bud's system. It's proven with the development of Caroll and Baze. We have THJ, Prince, and Bembry... I think we are set at the Small Forward Position.
Horford is the key...We have to keep him away from Celtics.
2 minutes ago, RWF said:Forget Baze.
If he wants to leave, sign and trade Horford to Thunder for Sabonis and what the hell ever. Or if he wants to go to the C's, get Jaylen Brown.
Jaylen Brown can't shoot and please tell me you watched the draft? We have two SFs already. Baze is a great team player, but smart money is he takes the 70m contract that teams are throwing his way...
Horford and Dwight.......could that resemble Tim Duncan and David Robinson ?

May the Odds be forever in your favor Horford!
6 minutes ago, MrYellow said:Why is everyone so focused on sitting Korver?
Can't you read the stats?
The playoffs alone prove Korver should come off the bench as THJ is more athletic and can create his own shot better than Korver. But in any case if we have this dominant front court, then open 3pt shots will come regardless of who starts at the SG spot.
Let me first start by saying I'm not a fan of cry baby Howard, nor paying Horford the Max. But it is time for the Atlanta Hawks to really roll the dice to prove to it's fans and to the league that we are serious about winning a championship....I realize this move puts Milsap coming off the Bench like Iggy in Golden State. Imagine us playing a platoon system, bringing these two back together will bring intense excitement to the media starve Atlanta Hawks, plus if healthy we basically stake our claim to the ECF and maybe then we can give the Cavs a good series.
PG- Schröder / Jarrett Jack
SG- THJ / Korver
SF- Thabo / Prince / Bembry
PF- Horford / Milsap
C - Howard / Splitter /Muscala
AND YES WE LET BAZEMORE WALK...and Move Korver to the bench
Ton of rumors out there circulating.....we are definitely trying to package the our 1st rounders to move.....probably targeting Brown or Bender.
Depending if Bud sees any benefits in bringing in the Spoiled Dwight Howard back home, then a trade for SAP (+ filler) is very likely to Toronto for Derozan.
ALL Rumors by NBA sports analyst who are bored now that the finals are done.
PG- Dennis
SG-Derozen / THJ
SF-Bazemore / Brown
PF- Horford
C- Howard
3 hours ago, JayBirdHawk said:True, but if our PG, PF and C play up to their capabilities their non impact would be felt less.
It is time to trade Horford!
6 hours ago, macdaddy said:As long as Bud is here I don't see a massive overall. I think we'll keep tweaking and keep continuity.
Same ole Hawks if we don't try to shake things up......How many years will we accept mediocrity..
with that said I think we make moves....Korver maybe gone too
9 hours ago, Trout7 said:I don't think we would win more with Blake Griffin.
Yes, but the marketing team /owner would love it financially and it brings star power to our team at a slightly younger age.
8 hours ago, JayBirdHawk said:What do you considsr a decent contract for Bazemore?
The Hawks will probably just let Bazemore walk and sign Harrison Barnes to an offer sheet. We can't pay Al Horford a max contract, if we do the Hawks will be a perennial 4th seed in the East.
I expect a lot of movement this summer for Atlanta.
The Hawks management obviously loves Horford, Korver and Bazemore, but I would be surprise if the Hawks keep those 3 together. If i had to choose i would say Bazemore stays on a decent contract; but at this point it makes no sense to sign Horford to a big contract. He is a great guy, good player, but if you Max a player it better be a superstar.....I wonder if the Hawks break the mold and try to pursue Blake Griffin for Horford (sign & trade deal) or something similar.
If the series doesn't go 6....Does it make sense to keep together a team that is 2nd or 3rd best in the East? The business side w/new ownership probably points to NO.
GO HAWKS, but change is near...and I expect Horford to be GONE>>>>>>>>
Bazemore still pisses me off

The Market dictates the $$$. ...3 teams actually offered him 4yr/ 72million....So it's not like Hawks Management pulled a number out of a Hat.
